yora de la informacin que contiene procede del
Primer Campeonato Mundial del Gambito Letn, por Correspondencia.

Letn en el mundo. En consecuencia, lo mejor que podemos hacer es se
guir las ideas y prcticas desarrolladas por los mismos.
El libro se concentra en las ltimas y mejores lneas de juego para las
negras. La inclusin de numerosos diagramas sirve a un doble propsito:
por un lado, facilitar la visin de las posiciones crticas sin tener que re
currir al tablero y, por otro, plantear un reto al lector, invitndole a veri
ficar su conocimiento de las posiciones del GL.
Por otra parte, en el rincn superior derecho de cada diagrama se ha
incluido la valoracin que el programa Frirz4 realiza de la posicin. As,
8 1,5 significa que, en opinin de Frirz, la posicin es favorable a las
blancas segn la equivalencia material de 1,5 peones de ventaja. N 0,5
significa que la posicin es favorable a las negras en un valor estimado
en medio pen de ventaja.
E\ lector debe tener en cuenta que precisamente las computadoras y
los programas de juego han permitido que este gambito sea ms jugable.
n la tabla anterior puede verse que entre los tres jugadores slo han
perdido 4 partidas de un total de 121 disputadas! Muchos de los rpidos
utaques blancos, es decir, supuestas "refutaciones" de la apertura que
estudiamos, fueron fcilmente rechazados. As que las refutaciones han
sido refutadas!
Por ltimo, hemos incluido las partidas jugadas con esta apertura por
el gran tctico de Riga, Mijail Tal.
