Direct measurement of groundwater movement rate can be performed by measuring C-


14 in dissolved carbon dioxide, as well as by adding a visible dye to a well and
measuring the time until the dye is found in another well. Tritiated water (3H2O) is
radioactive and would not be purposefully added to a groundwater well. Darcys Law
might allow you to estimate the rate of groundwater movement, but it would not be a
direct measurement.
