The awaited moment had come wherein the showcasing of arts, films,

photography and the actual presentation of Panay Bukidnon tribe entitled Mga Tagik
kag Hulak began at JBLFMU hall with the participation of grade 12 students. With this
event we were able to experience, gain information and knowledge through media and
arts as well as understanding culture and the way of life.

The first part of the program was all about the tribe of Panay Bukidnon with the
participation of an actual couple Rudolfo Sandigan Caballero and Rita Caballero who
was the first couple professionals in the tribe. They talked about the state and
customary laws that emphasize their rules and regulation especially when you are a
researcher or a visitor, and you should obey what they will want you to do, as practices
in their place. Also they narrate examples of their epics through chanting, and explain
the traditional reading they have called ungaw, and then we all know that the tribe is
known for their binukot practices. Binukot are isolated in the society and especially at
their place, rather than that, binukot cannot be able to read and write so the only thing
that they do are through chanting and embroidery. Yet todays time they said that they
were not able to bukot anymore for the reason of human rights. And as society
changes they also improve as well wherein the tribe nowadays were able to mingle to
different kinds of people especially foreigners, for the reason that researchers and some
people are having the curiosity and interest on the tribes way of life and living, different
media came across the country were able to deal and experience the way they live. The
result of that, as further explained by the couple, education is what they need in order to
communicate to others, and also to all the members of the tribe as possible, because as
explained by Rita they are having researchers from different places, so the advantage
of education is for them to have no discrimination and not to be intimidated by others as
they can show that they can also manage to be fitted in low land areas. Also when it
comes to arts, embroidery takes place as they just base their artwork on surrounding,
for they describe that real artist imitate nature. Lastly they perform their dance called
Binanog that relates to courtship, like two birds are flying between the male and
female. And when we talk about the GAMABA awardee Federico Caballero as the
head of their tribe advantages and disadvantages occur. The disadvantage is that
having the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan in their place can affects the way they live
before, but with the advantage of having such award able the tribe to be well known.
With their conclusion at the end of their presentation they emphasizes they have just
simple living, thus simple living, simple life, simple problem, going to basic and not
inclined on materialism. They do not call their shelter a house, because it is just a
building but they prefer home because there is life and love.
Also on the second part of the program, showcasing the arts of a visual artist
who just started his career with the plain sketching with the use of pencil, with hard work
and determination of pursuing your dream as an artist and on any career you choose
nothing is impossible. As time passes by his arts evolved on different kinds of genre
whereas he uses oil, paint and different style of making visual arts as well as in making
animations in computers. Art should be appreciate and experience by anyone. Lastly
the third presentation is all about arts through media, such as photography and film
making. Thus we can define photography not just by taking picture and having good
poses to provide a beautiful images but its main point is having the importance of light
as a key factor in photography. Lighting is a key factor in creating a successful image.
Lighting determines not only brightness and darkness, but also tone, mood and the
atmosphere. Therefore it is necessary to control and manipulate light correctly in order
to get the best texture, vibrancy of color and luminosity on your subjects.

In the overall presentation I would say that it is a great time having us students
experience this kind of event, for we were able to understand and gain more knowledge
about different strategy in arts and culture. It is better to experience it live than just
reading books and memorize the things they do, for we can asked question to the
persons behind that successful art and a one of a kind culture and tradition base on the
Panay Bukidnon tribe. It is such a pleasure to be part of this activity.
