What regulations cover data Collection and Irish Data protection Act 1988 and 2003 which
protection and when do they come into outlines 8 principles of who is responsible for and
force outlines the amount of access etc the original owner
of that information has.

Secondly recent developments as were covered in


the LNSR report European Union Data Protection
Law & Policy dated 26 oct 2016.

And more importantly also Data Protection


Businesses need to act now to prepare for upcoming
changes to regulations, including the European
General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679/EU
(GDPR), which will apply completely ( without an
excuse of ignorance from 25 May 2018. The
regulation has been in force since 24 May 2016,but
will be law on the 25th may 2018.

Main strategies for dealing with Data (1) Process as much data using a pseudonymous
Collected with Owners consent: method so the original owner data will be
unrecognisable to anyone without a code or
password.

(2) store all the data given in an encrypted hard-


drive in a locked environment where only
appointed individuals with security clearance can
access the data - ONLY for use within the
protections of the law and the original use they
were acquired.

Specify data that will be collected exactly Client/ customer Email with Name only :
what data and why you need it
What is the data going to be used for? so as to send them emails about developments in
YouTube/ Vimeo and world of Video. The data will
only be used for the reason it was asked for unless:

How do you plan to keep it accurate, Use an specific email server as the database such a
complete and up to date? proton mail whose servers are in Switzerland and
have higher security level than Google Gmail
How will you let the person know that you informing them on them considering signing up that
have this data? the information will be held simply to contact them
about times they might be interested in with the
option to unsubscribe
How will it be stored? In lines with point 4 of the main 8 listed as points
of required practise - that is will stored - protected
from harm or thieve in safe location where only
"authorised " personal have access as required - on
a need to know basis - in fulfilling the contract
between the data controller and the owner of the
original data that knowingly consented to it being
taken and stored.
How will you keep it safe and secure? Back it up to a 2 encrypting hard-drive which can be
accessed unless using passwords.
How long will you retain it for? Summarising the act as follow - keep it as a
minimum, any such processing takes place
subject to a contract between the controller
and the processor which specifies the
conditions under which the data may be
processed, the security conditions attaching
to the processing of the data and that the
data be deleted or returned upon completion
or termination of the contract.
