Key West High Students to Experience Dangers of Distracted Driving

Through Virtual Reality

3-D Immersive Experience Designed to Steer People Away from Smartphone Driving
Distractions

WHAT: Distracted driving is never OK. Youre never alone on the road, even when youre
alone in your car. Thats the message AT&T hopes to drive home with students
when its 3-D Virtual Reality (VR) tour visits Key West High School.

The VR experience is part of AT&Ts IT CAN WAIT campaign, launched 10 years

ago to address the dangers of texting while driving. AT&T has since expanded the
focus of the IT CAN WAIT campaign to address other smartphone driving
distractions.

Using the AT&T IT CAN WAIT VR app with the Samsung Gear VR headset, Galaxy
Note smartphone and Bose headphones, students will experience the
consequences of glancing at your phone while driving, in a 3-D setting.

The VR tour was spawned by research from AT&T that shows:

Nearly 4 in 10 smartphone users tap into social media while driving.
Almost 3 in 10 surf the net.
About 1 in 7 is on Twitter behind the wheel.
And surprisingly, 1 in 10 video chat.
