Control Measures
All portable electrical equipment must be tested for electrical safety at correct intervals and labelled with the date
of the test
Only qualified and competent persons to work on electrical equipment
All the tools must be safe for use on electric work
Only designated competent persons should carry out the task
Electrical cables and plugs should be regularly visually inspected by the user for damage
Provision of competent electricians
Shock resistance PPE should be used e.g. Rubber gloves, Safety shoes etc.
Make sure Lock Out Tag Out is implemented
Supervision should be provided
Other job related control measures (e.g. Safety measures for working on ladder)
Summary
Always follow the Permit To Work system for any activity in the substation. Safe procedures should be followed including
proper supervision should be provided at all the times to continuously monitor the work. Tool box talks and trainings will be
given on regular basis.
