harder to be the one to judge
those performance when all of
them are outstanding. it was a
truly amazing experience for
me to be one of the judges at the
event where I got to witness some
very impressive performances
especially our younger
generations. a big compliment
to all the parents, families and
friends who took there time out
to come and support and cheer
on the artists. this shows that our
culture is still alive around the
world. a well organised event by
Manukau TIV Sangam. its was
a tough task for us judges as all
the artists and their performances
were superbly outstanding. the
youngster really owed the stages
with their memorizing voices and
their cuteness. open category was
even more competitive with fusion
of instruments that shows our
indo- Fijian music is improving
with time and resource. However
I would like to highlight say one
thing that there was a time when
young children were not allowed
to even touch musical instruments
leave aside sing or sit among the
singing mandali but that has
changed dramatically over the
years as now parents put so much
effort and priority especially
when raising a family out of the
motherland to promote our culture
and pass it into our children. that
is what I witnessed last Friday
night. once again thank you all
for making it a successful evening
and I hope more of these kind of
events are organised so that our
culture and music lives among our
children.
