The Present Simple is used:

to talk about permanent situations:


I live in London but I come from Canada.

to describe actions or routines that happen regularly:


I get up late every morning. / He does the same things every day.
She always catches the 8.00 train.
It snows here in the winter.

for a general truth or statement of fact:


Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
Fish dont fly.

for instructions and directions:


To get to my house, you take the first turning on the left.

We often use these words with the present simple:

never, hardly ever, rarely, occasionally, sometimes, frequently, often,


usually, always every day / week, in the morning, on Mondays

Affirmative
3rd person singular
We add -s to the base verb form with verbs like: drink, run, speak, visit,
make, like
He drinks, runs, speaks, visits, wears, makes, likes
He/She/It drink + s = drinks

We add -es to verbs that end in ch, sh, ss, x, o: brush, do, dress, go, mix,
polish, teach, wash, watch

With verbs that end in a consonant +y, we change the y to -ies:

cry, fly, try > He cries, flies, tries

th verbs that end in a vowel+y, we just add s:

We put the helping verb does and not before the main verb. The short form of
this is doesnt.
I, you, we, they

We put the helping verb do and not before the main verb. The short form of this
is dont.
Example: We dont get up at 7 oclock at the weekends.

She doesnt go to the park when its cold.
