BACKGROUND

As an area which has cultural varieties,


Southeast Asia also has tropical climate,
with the attractive cluster of islands and
the sunshine for along the year. The pan-
orama of nature as mountain range, sea,
and the beach which has white sand
and the turquoise water, with all of the
assets of nature and culture, some
countries in Southeast Asia have taken
many advantages of both sectors well,
so it helps the income of the govern-
ment. To learn from other countries be-
comes a crucial thing in developing our
sectors of culture and tourism. We have

to be open-minded and ready to learn from another


countries which have had many experiences and
knowledge. The spirit which is formed is not the be
competitive as the best, but a spirit to collaborate and
create team-work to make each country in ASEAN
become prosperous country.

The number of tourists in Indonesia are only one billion


than Singapore which is 15 billion, Malaysia about 27.5
billion and Thailand about 27.9 billion. Based on the
data, Youth Center to Act for Nation as a youth organi-
zation focusing on the development of the young gen-
eration and taken position on giving debriefing to the
youth to be main actor in running the tourism object in
Indonesia, taking Indonesian tourism to the global and
giving critic and response to stakeholders in Indonesia.

BACKGROUND

ASEAN Youth Cultural Exposure #3 2017 is a cultural exchange pro-


gram in Malaysia. It consists of visit tour agency, youth central activi-
ty, cultural performance, company visit, cultural symposium and
many more.

GOALS

The goals of ASEAN Youth Cultural Exposure #3 2017 are :

Growing up the awareness of understanding each culture

through interaction, friendship, and team work with the
country which is visited in order to keep and enrich ASEAN
young generations knowledge by the inspiring culture
and also tour strategy.

2 Developing a good quality of tourism object in Indonesia,


serving the unique of it, and the harmonizing of varieties.

Getting a balance development of tourism object, continu-
ing, and inclusive to give a significant contribution about
the social condition and economical social to get the pros-
perity of society.

4 To promote Indonesian culture and tourism to the world so


that more tourists visiting Indonesia.

ACTIVITY

Outcome activities of ASEAN Youth Cultural Exposure # 3 2017 are :

Participants learn about culture and tourism development strate-
gy from Malaysia.

Participants will increase the ability to speak in English, Malay, and
Thai language through interaction with the natives of the country.

Participants learn to adapt to new environment that values, way


3 of life and way of thinking that is different from the participants
environment.

There are increasing respect for culture, language, and traditions
of the countries that participant visited.

5 Participants promote Indonesian culture and tourism directly to


Malaysia citizen.

6 Participants will be a "heroes of tourism" of their own region.

The event detail of the ASEAN Youth Cultural Exposure # 3 2017


are :

1. Cross-Cultural Performing Arts


Representatives from every region in Indonesia provide cultural
performances that would be awesome to promote Indonesian
culture to the guests of the three countries visited, even to
institutions such as the department of culture, government,
large companies and others.

2. Visits Tourism Enterprises


Visit the handicraft production center to learn
how to produce handicrafts and souvenirs from
each country, so that participants gain insight
and inspiration to improve the quality of Indone-
sian handicrafts and souvenirs.

3. Field Trip Research and Cultural Race


Exploring the beauty of the culture and natural heritage of Malaysia to enrich
participants with the idea of the development of culture and tourism of these
places.

The panel discussion with an experience and reputable speak-
ers in the field of culture and tourism of Malaysia to exchange

Dr. Loo Fung Ying


She studied piano under Michael Schreider, Barno
Khaknazarov, Larisa Rakhmanova and Lillian Joseph, and
had master classes conducted by Artur Pizzaro, Boris
Berman, Irina Osipova, Julian Jacobson, Richard MacMa-
hon, Olga Malissova, Ng Chong Lim etc. Fung Ying
completed her Ph.D at the University of Sheffield, UK in
2009. She was invited to present her research papers at
local and international music conferences in the area of
performance and ethnomusicology, and had also given
many solo piano recitals at prestigious concert halls
such as St. Martin-in-the-Field and St. John Smith's
Square. In addition, she is also an active composer and
music arranger with the multiple award-winning Dama
