Reason behind selecting the topics of personality:

The main reason selecting the topics is, every day we meet a lot of people. Thousands of people
are familiar to us. Some people are good for us and some are not. By understanding about their
personality we can easily understand about them. This perception may help me to be careful
about some bad people who have strong ID. As a BBA student this study may also help me to
understand about a persons intension which may technically help me, what will be my proper
behavior with that person. I may also understand how is trustable for me or who can be cheat
with me.

I choose this topic for another reason. The reason is I find full of interest. Here I got new
interesting things. After completing my academic carrier it might be helped me a lot especially
for business or making deal.

Discussion about personality:

Personality:

Personality is a long lasting pattern of characteristic that is always stable and individually a given
person. Personality mainly reflects a behavior which is makes us unique and differentiates from
others. For that reason personality lead every individual to act consistently in different situation
and over extended periods of time. Freuds told on his theory that unconscious forces act as
determinants of personality. Unconscious that mainly refers a part of personality that contains the
memories knowledge, belief feelings urges, drives and instincts of which the individual is not
aware.

Finally we can say that our behavior is motivated by the unconscious part of memory by which a
person is not aware.

Example: A person daily stole food from shop. He doesnt think that its not a wrong work. But
stolen is a crime to us. So the intention comes from our unconscious mind which it may right to
ones that not right to others. That is our personality.

Structuring personality:

According to Freud personality consists of three separate but interacting components.

The components are
1. ID
2. Ego
3. Super ego

ID: From the birth Id personality grow into a person. But according to time a person need to
control this kind of personality. ID is related to a persons biological need. ID didnt care about
what is right and wrong, what is legal or illegal? This personality didnt distinguish between
those values it just want so satisfy those primitive drives like hunger, sex, aggression and
irrational impulses. Those drives are fueled by psychic energy which can think of limitless
energy source constantly putting pressure on the various part of personality.
Example: A hungry person walking by a side of food shop. He takes food from the shopkeeper.
He doesnt have any money to pay for the food. So he when find a scope he ran away. The
shopkeeper was very busy so he didnt notice the person
Another example a person lost his job few months ago. Very hardly he didnt find anything
more. The person was very hardly leading his life by sharing bed with his friend. Finally he
borrows some money from his poor father. He took the money behind her bed. When he go to
washroom his bed partner stolen his money and arrange a party. He became very angry and
punishes his bed partner on the spot.

EGO:
The Ego mainly works for balancing the desires of the id. After birth ego is soon develop into a
person and realize the objective outside world. EGO operates reality principle in which
instinctual energy is restrained to maintain individuals safety and to help integrate the person
into society by pleasure seeking id. So ego is the executive of personality which makes
decisions control action and allows thinking and problem solving of a higher order than the ids
capabilities permit. According to situation it takes decision logically to satisfy biological needs
in a logical safe way.
Example: A student is very hungry in the class room. He is not allowed to eat anything in the
class room and he need to fulfill his hunger because his id forcing her. So when teacher is
writing something on the board the student bring some food from his bag and immediately eat
the food hiding from the teacher.

Super Ego:
Super ego motivates us to do activities which are considered as morally proper activities and inspires us
to be like the person we wish we were. Super ego should be developing every person from his
childhood. It is the final personality structure. If we do wrong this super ego prevent us from behaving
in a morally which May improper way by making us guilty. According to Freud the super ego is the
personality structure that harshly judges the morality of our behavior. It represents the right and wrong
of society as taught and modeled by a persons parents teachers and other individuals of society.

There are two part of super ego

Super EGO

Conscience Ego Idea

Conscience: This super ego prevents us to do any wrong work. If we did any wrong work by mistake this
conscience super ego make us feel guilty.

Ego Idea: This super ego always pushes us to do the right things. It always realizes us we are good
person from inside. So we should always good work.

Example: A person is very honest. Every day he goes to office in time but one day he is late in office.
Nobody notice it so he didnt get any punishment. The person became very sad for that reason why
nobody told him anything for breaking the management rules. He felt so much guilty thats why he
punishes him himself. He didnt eat anything on that day in the office. This person contain super ego.

My Experience, learning and feelings:

Firstly, I would like thank my honorable course instructor Rezwana Sultana for providing me
such important information in a interesting way. And this interesting way do really work in my
case. Sorry to say that first I was thinking this course will be as boring as other theoretical
courses but your always smiling face with interesting examples regarding to the topic made this
assumption totally false. I must say this experience is one of my best experiences and it took
place in my long term memory.
I've learnt here so many topics some of them are introduction to psychology, research, dream,
emotion and motivation, learning, memory, personality and so on. This lesson has taught me how
to understand some ones psychology. As a student of BBA department I'll have to work in
business environment where I'll meet with different people and have to deal with them. In such
case, my learning behavior of psychology would help me so nicely.
Though the course has finished, but it generated a feeling of thirst to know about the course in a
broader manner.
