Textbook references will be posted prior to the introduction of each topic.

Assignments/ Quizzes:
There will be occasional quizzes (announced and unannounced) and/or
graded assignments. NOTE: Quizzes will be the same for C 343 and
CS 744 students, but CS 744 will have supplementary assignments.

Tests
There will be two in-class exams. An outline will be provided before each
exam. NOTE: CS 343 and CS 744 will have some different questions on
exams.

Final Exam
The final is cumulative, but will be more heavily based on material covered
after Test 2. NOTE: There will be different final exams for CS 343 and
CS 744.

Grade Calculation
Quizzes 15%
Tests (2) 50%
Final 35%

If you are absent for a test or quiz, you must contact me at


amiththompson@qc.cuny.edu and take a make-up by the next class.
Tests not made up will be given a grade of 0.

Attendance Policy
Attendance in class is essential to achieving the course requirements.
Attendance will be taken every day, using a sign-in sheet. Please come to
class on time, as latecomers are distracting to the class.

In the classroom, respect all members of the class and maintain an
environment conducive to learning:
Speak to other members of the class in a respectful manner.
Come to class on time.
Silence all pagers and cell phones.
Ask questions to clarify any topics covered in lecture
Hand in all assignments by their due dates.

Cheating on a test will result in a grade of zero and appropriate action
will be taken.
