The device has to be

initialized via the USB
interface, if you want to

download parameters
into the device for the
first time
The online device
receives its IP address
The offline configuration
in the project receives
the serial number (BM
number) of the
SIPROTEC relay

Two ways to connect

Try to reach a device Find all devices in

through USB or the subnet

communication

Direct connection Select the IP address
If the device has been

initialized already, you
can connect directly to

the device
Select the IP address
that shall be used to
connect to the device

Direct connection
Direct connection to a
SIPROTEC device from
the offline configuration
Right-click on the device
and select Connect to

device
A warning will appear, if
the serial number of the
online device and the
offline configuration
differs
If the device is not
already available in the
Lifelist (Online access),
it will appear under
Other accessible
devices

Lifelist
The lifelist contains all

available online devices
See directly through
which interface the

devices are connected

Plug & Play Find the devices
If the project does not

already contain the
device, DIGSI 5 can

search it for you
Select the network
interface that is
connected to the device
and click on Update
accessible devices
All online devices within
the local network will
appear in the lifelist

Retrieve device data
Retrieve the device data in

two steps:
1) Basic device information
also suitable for slow
connections

2) Complete process data

code as the online
