Introduction
Hello and welcome to my evidence portfolio , I am Lesage Dibakwane ,in my portfolio you will get to
understand the real reasons that made me become a teacher and how was my first experience in
the world of teachers and a few things that I wish I could improve in the education system of South
Africa and my views on teaching technologies.

About myself
I grew up in a small township called Artridgevil , I attended primary school in Kgotlelelang primary
school were I received my first maths award in grade 4 , that award influenced me to have a
desire for more awards as it felt dignifying to be counted among learners who are valued
and excelling academically
I attended middle school at funekile secondary school where I never made anything
remarkable I was just a normal netball player, I never received any award or trophy. I
attended high school at New eersterus secondary school in Pretoria North, and thats when I
got myself to a whole lot of things such as being a class representative, team leader and a
peer educator and I also received a merit award for being among the top 10 students and
for having 1 distinction
My interests and values
I value Woking with people and sharing the ideas that I have with those around me, I use to
engage myself in school debates, but I never won so I went for drama where I made a fool
of myself when I tripped and fell so then decided to go back to my passion of playing
netball, I was the shorter. And bi enjoy it more than everything else in this world

My life at tut
I never thought that life could be so difficult and fun at the same time, the funny part my
story is how I got registered since I was a walk in. Being at tut has taught me a whole lot of
things about child development and how childrens behaviour change according to different
age trends above all it has taught me how to apply control and exercise power the
classroom, for example I will exercise my power of delegation to delegate the class
representative to mark the attendance register every morning in class

PROFESIONAL DEVELOPMENT
As a student teacher I believe that is important to continually seek to deepen your knowledge of the
field that you are in. New research and technology are being published every day and if we do not
take as much of this as possible, we remain stagnant in our ways. Thirty eight years from now I want
to be a teacher with thirty five years of experience, not a teacher who has been around for thirty five
years with one year of experience. After all I am trying to help children learn.

There are many ways in which to acquire this knowledge. They are all equally useful, through
everyone

Learning style is of course different. From the very first day of school it is important for teachers to
get to know their student. This does not mean only learning their names but also getting to know
them as individuals their likes and dislike, strengths and weaknesses. Not only will this make student
feel welcome and comfortable in the class, but it is to incredibly useful to the teacher. Getting to
know the children in the class helps you determine which learning style to consider when planning
lessons, which topics to cover throughout the year and how to make individual connections with the
children. Student should also be given the opportunity for self-assessment and be encouraged to
evaluate their habits. Attitudes and well-being this can be accomplished through real life activities or
simulation in which students can become involved in a meaningful way.

Teaching philosophy
As a young girl I always dreamed about becoming a teacher because my teachers were able
to make learning so much fun, as I got older school was not easy for me but my teacher
always took time to help me understand what was being taught, my teacher forced within
me a desire to learn, challenge myself and explore, so I therefore want to share the same
experience with others
I was lucky to have a clever passionate teacher as a child that installed a thirst for
knowledge and love for maths and books, she made solving problems exciting and literature
come alive, but more importantly she made a huge difference in my life, I then knew from
that time that I wanted to help others discover the wonders I had been shown
When I was in first grade my other teacher made a profound impact on my life, she taught
me how to be excited about learning while challenging me every day to reach my full
potential .she somehow made me realise later that teachers individually and collaboratively
have the ability to not only change the world, but to improve it and make it a better place to
live in
I began to understand in high school that great teachers have skills that I want to learn.
Those teachers were great communicators who had a command of their subject matter
content. Many of the grate teachers that I have had through my education have become my
heroes and role models I then realised that they were the type of teacher I wanted to
become, above all I fell in love with the chalk board from an early age I remember my 6th
grade teacher use to ask me to come and write on the board
The reason why I choose fet
I choose to teach teenagers because they just easy to talk to in general I could say that I
have my own way of talking sensing to my peers so dealing with teenagers in the future will
not be a big deal and I am not good with kids I just find them difficult to understand.

My teaching practice
I did my practical at New Eeersterus secondary school. When I got to the school the HOD
for maths lit made all the arrangements she directed me to my two mentors Mrs Senona
and Mr magoro, I arranged all the classes with both mentors so that I could observe their
teaching method and classroom management styles. After that I arrange a meeting with the
deputy principal to discuss the history of the school, then everything went on easily, I could
even go to class by myself.
when I went to class alone I faced a few challenges such as having it difficult to maintain a
positive classroom behaviour where the learners are quite and attentive . After lunch the
learners become so hyperactive and naughty, when you give them a class activity they do
not do it and when you ask them questions they do not participate in answering those
questions.
There was once this day where a girl in my class suddenly stood up and started hitting a
boy sitting behind her and that boy hit back, so I then found myself in a level where by I had
to stop the lesson and resolve the conflict between the two students
Rather than that teaching practice has taught me a lot things about being a teacher , it made
me realise that learners tend to look in the direction of the teacher before engaging in an off
task behaviour to check if the teacher is looking in their direction , once the are aware that
the teacher isI watching them., they abandon whatever off task act which they may be
about to engage in or engaged in.

Improvements that I wish to make

Improving the learners cognitive has always been my dream , changing the learners way of
thinking about maths has always been a difficult task for teachers so want them to view
maths with a positive mentality. I want them to view it the same way they view English and
other simple subjects and I also want to improve the learners behaviour by using the power
negative punishment and negative reinforcement to those learners who misbehave in class
for example if a learner shouts in class I will punish him/her to come and stand in front of
the class for the next ten minutes and if that does not work effectively I will just make them
aware of the negative effects of not using the time allocated/period effectively for example
if the learners in class spent fifteen minutes of class making noise I will make them aware of
the fact that they have spent/ wasted fifteen minutes of class making noise while list that
fifteen minutes could have been used to revise chapter two of our syllabus
I will use preventative measures to keep students interested instead of disrupting the class
and I will also use creativity to prepare interesting lessons, I will not talk to the learners for
a full period , I will just create constructive learning experiences where students are
responsible for their own learning .

teaching technologies
The Internet gives students instant access to answers beyond whats in their textbooks. In fact,
todays kids are already familiar with Goggling-it to find answers to questions. The gift of the
internet to the classroom gives teachers the chance to give their students a holistic view of any given
subject while still giving students the guidance to find the right sources. In-classroom internet
research gives teachers the opportunity to teach their students how to assess the quality of the
information they find online while

COCLUSION
In conclusion, my goal is to make the better place one child at a time. I know that I was born to teach
and ultimately I aspire to be model teacher I hope to help my student to be self-sufficient good
citizens and happy individuals. I also seek to instill in them the love of learning so that they can
become lifelong learners. This is how my class will be
