B. Shop Drawings: Indicate heat exchanger dimensions, size of taps, and performance data.
Indicate dimensions of tanks, tank lining methods, anchors, attachments, lifting points, taps, and
drains.
C. Product Data:
1. Water Heaters: Submit dimensioned drawings of water heaters indicating components and
connections to other equipment and piping. Indicate pump type, capacity and power
requirements. Submit electrical characteristics and connection locations.
2. Pumps: Submit certified pump curves showing pump performance characteristics with pump
and system operating point plotted. Include NPSH curve when applicable.
B. Operation and Maintenance Data: Submit replacement part numbers and availability.

A. Conform to ASME [Section VIII] <________> for construction of [water heaters] [heat
exchangers]. Provide boilers registered with National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Inspectors.

DOE standard listed below applies to gas-fired storage water heaters smaller than 75,000 Btuh input, gas-
fired instantaneous water heaters between 50,000 Btuh and 200,000 Btuh, oil-fired storage water heaters
smaller than 105,000 Btuh, oil-fired instantaneous water heaters smaller than 210,000 Btuh. ANSI standard
applies to larger capacities.

B. Water Heater Performance Requirements: Equipment efficiency not less than prescribed by
ASHRAE 90.1 when tested in accordance with [DOE 10 CFR] [ANSI Z21.10.1] [ANSI Z21.10.3].

This article extends warranty period beyond one year. Extended warranties increase construction costs and
Owner enforcement responsibilities. Specify warranties cautiously.

D. Tank: [Glass lined] [Copper lined] [Nickel (nickel/phosphorus) coating] welded steel [ASME
labeled]; multiple flue passages, 4 inch diameter inspection port, thermally insulated with
minimum 2 inches [glass fiber] [polyurethane], encased in corrosion-resistant steel jacket;
baked-on enamel finish; floor shield and legs.
E. Accessories: Brass water connections and dip tube, drain valve, magnesium anode, and ASME
rated temperature and pressure relief valve.

baffle and draft hood.

H. Controls: Automatic direct immersion thermostat with temperature range adjustable minimum 175
degrees F differential. Automatic reset high temperature limiting thermostat factory set at 195
degrees F Gas pressure regulator, multi-ribbon or tubular burner. One-hundred percent safety
shut-off pilot and thermocouple, [intermittent electronic ignition monitoring pilot and main
flame, trial for re-ignition for momentary loss of flame, shut down of pilot and main burner
in 2-4 seconds after loss of flame,] [and automatic flue damper] [and power vent].

D. Connect natural gas piping to water heater, full size of water heater gas train inlet. Arrange piping
with clearances for burner removal and service.

H. Install discharge piping from relief valves and drain valves to nearest floor drain.
J. Install water heater trim and accessories furnished loose for field mounting.
L. Install control wiring between water heater control panel and field mounted control devices.
M. Connect flue to water heater outlet, full size of outlet. Refer to Section 23 51 00.
3.2 SCHEDULES
