"A curriculum is more for teachers than it is for

pupils. If it cannot change, move, perturb, inform

teachers, it will have no effect on those who they
teach. It must be first and foremost a curriculum for
teachers. If it has any effect on pupils, it will have it by
virtue of having had an effect on teachers." (Jerome
Bruner)

This course is intended to introduce the pre-

serv ice students to effectiv e curriculum design and
assessment. The course topics include curriculum models, principles and approaches in
designing, deliv ering, and addressing the curriculum.

I t emphasizes familiarity w ith contemporary curriculum policies and framew ork

and their relev ance or planning, pedadogy and assessment at the classroom lev el.

The course in curriculum dev elopment shall dev elop

teachers w ho can adjust and be flexible in designing and
implementing curricula in learning env ironments for
different students in different context.I t can also apply a
w ide range of teaching process skills (including curriculum
development, lesson planning, material development,
educational assessment and pedadogy)

First, I thought of this subject as a one-unit

requirement to this course, but that is not until I w as in
immersion/field already. I myself w itnessed w hat happens
in a 4 corner classroom that made me excited on my profession. And that made me
realize that this subject is beneficial, essential and important not only as a requirement
but also because it giv es us an idea of w hat w ork w e are into so that w e w ill become an
effectiv e teacher.

I personally gained a lot from this Field Study. I learned from the teachers the real
things that happen in a school. I saw the theories I learned being applied in actual school,
I saw the connections of theories, of child grow th, and etc because of this. And it makes
me feel that I am one step closer to being an effectiv e teacher.

Hav ing learned the curriculum and other curriculum that happens in a school, I
w ondered w hat type of teacher I will become. I hope to be a teacher in a child-friendly

and child-centered school. I am excited in executing all the things I v e learned and more
excited on being the pilot of my students.

Foremost I w ould also like to thank the reality the teachers, classmates, and the
institution that I had hold this observ ation. I found meaningful experience being observed
also by my cooperating teacher is w orth a great w onderful experience since through
w andering the sacrifices and hindrances in this
subject I stood as holding myself as a teacher in
response to the observ ation and comments of the
faculty and it helped me a lot ascertaining that
this profession that I take is the right choice. And
as the end of all F.S. and episode as w ell those
experience w ill reflect in time and there w ill come
that the episodes that I took w ill reiterate on my in
serv ice time.

Thoughts: The Episodes are seeds that I sow ed in my premier career, so I really expect
that to know , to gain, to train and to understand w hat ponders most during and after this
profession. And exploring the curriculum is not new to ev eryone the case is that not all
are aw are of it so it is a challenge to be one of the curriculum planners.
