The Gibraltar Triathlon Association reserves the right to reject any application and to refuse entry to
any team or competitor on race day.
Please arrive promptly for registration, as there is much to do before the race starts:
Each individual competitor or relay team will be allocated a race number on race day, and will be
handed safety pins to attach these numbers. Organisers will additionally use a marker pen to write
race numbers onto each competitors body.
A top must be worn throughout the cycle and the run, with the number clearly visible on the back.
Failure to apply this rule may result in time penalties or disqualification.
Bicycles and helmets, which are compulsory, are to be checked before placing equipment at
designated spot in transition area. No competitor will be allowed to move a bicycle during the
race unless wearing a helmet.
The Runner for each Team must cross the finish line at the correct point, showing their
number to the official timekeeper. If you do not do this, your result may not be recorded.
Team Swimmers or Cyclists may NOT cross the finish line during the race.
All competitors must attend a pre-race briefing on the rules and the route, which should be as follows,
but may be subject to change on the day:
Swim: From a beach start, run/walk into the sea and swim the clearly marked swim route for
approximately 300 metres. Exit the water at the specified point and run/walk to the transition area on
Eastern Beach Road.
First Transition: The Swimmer must tag the Cyclist within the designated Transition Zone.
Cycle: First, properly secure helmet to head. Collect bike and push bike to exit. For safety reasons, do
not mount bike until outside transition area. A line on the road will indicate the point past which bikes
may be mounted. There will be cones marking the cycle route and marshals to give directions (and
count laps). Complete TWO laps and return to transition area. You are responsible for counting your
own laps, though you may be disqualified if you do not complete the correct distance.
Second Transition: The Cyclist must tag the Runner within the designated Transition Zone.
Run: From the transition area run the length of Eastern Beach Road to roundabout at the end, before
running back to the intersection with Devils Tower Road, then turn again for a second lap. After the
second lap is complete, run towards the final section at the end of Eastern Beach Road.
The intention is to time the event from start to finish, giving each Relay Team an overall time for
completing the event.
Competitors will only be allowed to take part if they have correctly completed and handed in, at
registration, the indemnity section on this entry form. For competitors under 18 years of age,
their parent/guardian must sign the indemnity section on their behalf.
If, for whatever reason, the sea is declared unsafe on Race Day, the organisers may stage a duathlon
(a run, followed by a cycle, followed by a second run) rather than a triathlon.
