On the above date and time officers were sent to a report of a gunshot heard in the area of the 600 Block
of 11th Street South. Upon arrival officers were advised by witnesses that several people were seen
running from the area after the gunshot including a male that was limping. Officers checked the area
however were not able to locate either a victim or a suspect.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. officers responded to a residence in the 1000 Block of 10 Avenue South to
a report of a male with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival officers located the victim from the original shots
fired call, a 15 year old male visiting from Moorhead that had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the
lower leg. The male was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance for treatment of
the injury. Officers interviewed the victim and received limited cooperation with details regarding what led
up to the shooting.

At this point the shooting is not believed to be random in nature. The investigation is active and is being
conducted by Investigators with the St. Cloud Police Department CIU and CAPS units. It is not believed that
any other persons were injured during the incident.

UPDATE: 08/31/2017
A 13 year old juvenile male, from Chicago, IL, has been arrested in connection with this investigation. The
subject was apprehended at a bus depot in Chicago, IL by Chicago PD. Subject was in possession of the
firearm that was believed to have been used in the shooting. Subject is being held in a Chicago Juvenile
Detention Center pending extradition on charges of 2nd degree assault with a deadly weapon and reckless
discharge. Juvenile had been visiting St. Cloud during the summer.
Investigation is ongoing at this time.
