ABSTRAK

Batik merupakan salah satu bentuk identitas Bangsa Indonesia,bahkan telah dikukuhkan oleh
UNESCO pada tahun 2009 sebagai Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity dari
Indonesia. Perkembangan batik yang semakin pesat dan mendunia, membuat batik berpotensi untuk
banyak diaplikasikan pada berbagai produk, tidak terbatas hanya produk sandang. Pada uraian kali ini
akan dilakukan tinjauan mengenai potensi untuk mengaplikasikan desain batik pada payung, karena
produk payung saat ini berkembang banyak yang mengadopsi model desain negara asing seperti cina ,
korea dan jepang. Pada pembuatan payung, diperlukan kain yang memiliki ketahanan penolakan
terhadap air yang cukup baik. Pembuatan kain tolak air ini dilakukan dengan mereaksikan kain tersebut
dengan resin tolak air (Fluorokarbon). Teknik untuk mereaksikan resin pada kain cukup variatif. Pada
tinjauan kali ini akan ditinjau cara penempelan resin dengan menggunakan sistem resist, sehingga kain
akan bercorak ketika kain terkena percikan air. Paper ini akan mengangkat potensi batik untuk
diaplikasikan sebagai desain payung yang berciri khas Indonesia.

Creative Design Product for Umbrella with Batik Design and Water Resistant Finish

Batik is one of the identity of the Indonesian, in fact has been confirmed by UNESCO in
2009 as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity from Indonesia. The rapid
development of batik and worldwide, making batik has the potential to be applied to many
different products, not limited to just clothing products. At this time the description will be a
review on the potential to apply batik designs on umbrellas, because in recent time many
umbrellas design adopted models of foreign designs such as Chinese, Korean and Japanese. In
production of umbrellas, which have the resilience necessary adequate fabrics resistance to
water. Manufacture of water resistance material is done by treating the fabric with water
resistance resin (fluorocarbon). Techniques for reacting resin on the fabric is quite varied. In this
paper will be reviewed by way of attachment resin using resist usystem, so it will be patterned
fabric when the fabric splash water.
This paper focuses on the potential to be applied as a batik design distinctively
Indonesian umbrella. Creative design product for umbrella combine with batik design and water
resistant finish can be add the value of this product.
