Projects Undertaken
Freelance Consultant International Cultural Mediator
May 2016-May 2017
The influx of the Syrian and Iraqi refugees to Greece has triggered a human drama of
staggering proportions. Thousands of vulnerable asylum applicants with different customs,
different cultures and a jumble of languages intermingle in the chaos of a shared tragedy. A
major achievement of my role was the successful alleviation of the serious communication
problems among the various groups and stakeholders. I was part of a successful team that
delivered the European Relocation Programme Project, this was a project building bridges
between different cultures and enabling a better understanding between refugees and their
host countries.
With a proven record of success in international mediation and negotiation I was able to gain
the trust, acceptance and co-operation of conflicting parties. With clear thinking in identifying
the real problems I offered practical solutions. Participated in over 20000 interviews of cases
for Syrian and Iraqi families, worked on information, pre-registration and registration
processes in camps across Greece, Ministry buildings and Consulates/ Embassies.
Tactful and diplomatic with the necessary powers of persuasion and strong character to
nudge the participants progressively towards an agreement in international cooperation. My
work as a lead cultural mediator was serving as one of the key successes in the process of
resolving major social and international conflicts.
Major Responsibilities:
Assist in communication with European Asylum Support Services, Greece Ministry of
Immigration, UNHCR, IOM, beneficiaries and/ or any other relevant parties
Assist in communications, collection of information, data and case identifications during the
