Almost 20 years of working experience with various private and public organisations in international
environment in the fields of business development, humanitarian and aid development, business
coaching, business training, consulting, leadership development, change management, business process
re-engineering and new business development.

Below and outline of my expertise and motivation to continue working in the humanitarian sector:
Experience leading and managing projects. These were projects that were based within
organisation that I was employed or consulting for either in in international field, non-profit
organisations, Non-Government Organisations and academic settings. Project examples:
Leading the upgrade of CRM and software systems
Managing Government initiatives such as Postgraduate for International Trade with
Universities in the North East region
Overhauling policies and procedures and setting Standard Operating Procedures
Introducing new support system to facilitating large-scale humanitarian responses
especially in current years as a response to the conflict in Iraq and Syria and impact on
neighbouring countries.
Some of the challenges faced ranged from lack of funding in certain instances to adverse and
dangerous environments that I had to operate and manage staff under. In some instances
specifically working after the gulf war in Iraq we were faced with huge distrust among the
Iraqis and it required a lot of effort to build bridges and trust before being able to start and
successfully deliver the projects. A passion for the project, a methodical approach, promising
what one can deliver truthfully, keeping calm under pressure and building realistic mile stones
were few ways of addressing these challenges.
Experience in training a wide range of individuals specifically in international trade and export,
micro- economy, business developments, business culture and etiquettes in the Middle East and
Asia as areas of expertise, training which lead to job development for local people which
directly contributed to the improvement of the regional economy in addition to contributing to
national economic figures. In addition, I have extensive expertise in training the trainer,
humanitarian aid development training programs, designing and delivering courses and
workshops to raise aid workers, local people, displaced individuals and refugee communities
on how to raise their professional skills and or how to deal with certain challenges. Extensive
experience in making presentations and conducting workshops, particularly to diverse or non-
traditional audiences.
Experience working with people who are traditionally socially-excluded, such as immigrants,
displaced individuals, people with disabilities, other specific populations who have special
needs, such as women involved in domestic violence and/or human trafficking and
unaccompanied minors.
Experience managing and facilitating capacity-building program, such as income-generating
program or training of trainers program.
Experience in high stress, crisis situations, such as disaster and/or conflict zones, for instance
serving recently as a Lead International Cultural Mediator assisting the Greek Authorities and
European Asylum Support Services with the influx of the Syrian and Iraqi refugees. Previous
experiences included serving as a Senior Civil Cultural Adviser for the Defence and Military
Sector (Specifically United States Department of Defence/ Intelligence Unit Iraq Emergency
Combat Operations, second Gulf War), for which I was deployed as a Middle East subject
matter expert on Iraqi and Arab culture. I provided cultural awareness guidance to army
commanders and soldiers in order to have a better understanding of the Iraqi culture and how to
respect and interact with the Local Government and Civil Services authorities. On a weekly
basis I engaged several senior military and government officials both from Iraqi and US Forces.
Experience working in 3 language including several dialects (English, Arabic and Kurdish).
Most recently acted as a lead linguist with the relocation program in the Balkan for the Iraqi
and Syrian migrants following the conflict in Syria and the Yazidis displacements in Iraq. Have
previously worked as lead linguist for the military in Iraq. I am fully qualified in the use of
languages professionally.
In my previous roles I have gained extensive expertise in creating access and delivery of
humanitarian services to communal settings specifically in Camps that were set up to
accommodate the needs of refugees and displaced individuals. Part of my duties and role was
the effective coordination of humanitarian services in line with security and protection policies,
identifying gaps and needs and providing partners and stakeholders with relevant information,
reports and data collection as necessary.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a highly political environment. I understand
the responsibilities of respecting individuals privacy and adhering to policies involving
confidentiality of personal and business details. In all the positions that I have held, I dealt with
highly sensitive materials and I was required to maintain confidentiality, not only for protocol
but also to develop trust with the people I was providing assistance to.
Ability to navigate and work with large bureaucracies.
Strong interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity. I possess a high degree of
professionalism, maturity, loyalty, confidentiality and the ability to communicate effectively at
all levels. I pride myself on my ability to deal with pressure and multi-task with a positive and

systems and procedures.
