Summary: New flashfile format (FL2) and improvements are being implemented April 1, 2014
Actions: Caterpillar recommends upgrading to the 2014A version of Cat ET in order to take full advantage of
all flashfile improvements. An upgrade to a minimum version of 2013B Cat ET is required in order to flash
new FL2 files.
Overview
Description: A new flashfile format will be used beginning April 1, 2014. This new file format will have a

".FL2" extension and will require a minimum of Cat ET 2013B to flash these new files. To coincide with the
Forums new file format, several other flashfile improvements are being implemented including the "SIS Name" which
will allow Cat ET to display the ECM name that matches the ECM name displayed in SIS web allowing for

easier matching of flashfiles to ECMs. A flashfile content file will also be created for new files. This content
Files file will display in SIS next to the flashfile, and will also be available for viewing from within Cat ET. This
file will detail the changes included in the flashfile, as well as any dependencies that may or may not exist.
Please be sure to have Cat ET upgraded prior to April 1 to avoid potential downtime in the field.
