Criterion 2 Highly Visible Community Outreach Program

2.4 PARTICIPATION OF NON-TEACHING PERSONNEL AND FACULTY MEMBERS IN THE COMMUNITY


DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES WAS LIMITED. A program that could inspire and give enough
motivation for non-teaching staff and faculty members may be designed to ensure more active
participation among them in community development activities.

Compliance:

Faculty members and the support staff are highly encouraged to participate (and participated) in
the community development activities.

Supporting documents:

The schedule of upcoming community development activities was posted to invite the
support staff and faculty members.
The Faculty Development Committee held activities that aimed to motivate the faculty
members to participate in community service programs.

b. The Project Proposal for the Faculty Development Activity indicated the purpose to promote
community service.
c. The evaluation sheet showed that the participants were motivated to join community
development activities.
The support staff were motivated and joined the community development activities as
evidenced by the attendance sheets for the LABS Program of the Department of Medical
Technology.
Photo-documentations are the best evidence to show the participation of the faculty
members and support staff in community development activities.

2.5 AS OBSERVED DURING THE COMMUNITY VISIT, THE POLICY ON STUDENT PARTICIPATION FOR
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT WAS NOT CLEAR. Thus, a policy for students involvement in the
community outreach program should be prepared, including the budgetary requirements, before the
students visit to the community.

Compliance:

The organizational chart of the UST-Simbahayan shows its components that include the
Community Development Office (OCD) and the National Service Training Program (NSTP). There is also a
set of policies and guidelines on how the student organizations are supposed to prepare their
community development project proposals, which include their roles as participants, the beneficiaries,
the budgetary requirements, project implementation, etc.

There is a process map issued by the UST-Simbahayan to be followed by the
Faculty/College-based student organizations when preparing their project proposals.
The UST-Simbahayan Community Development Office issued policies and guidelines for
community development project proposals.
There are policies and guidelines on preparing expense, terminal and annual reports to be
followed by student organizations.
The project proposal to be prepared by the student organizations must include the role of
the students, the number of beneficiaries, the budgetary requirements, project
implementation plan, and program management.
The student organizations must be able to accomplish a check list before their project
proposals can be approved.
The activity or community development project of the student organization has to be
approved by the faculty adviser and the director of the UST-Simbahayan.
An expense report is prepared and submitted by the students after the activity has been
done to account for the budget that was given to them.
