ABOUT TNSWAN

TamilNadu State Wide Area Network has been identified as one of the core e-
Governance backbone Infrastructure by National e- Governance Action Plan (NeGP ). TN State
WAN covers the State Secretariat & five Government complexes (Metro Centers) and seven
Special Offices at Chennai. 30 District Collect orates, 73 revenue divisions, 206 Taluk offices
and385 block offices. Hence the total number of Point of Presence (POP) of the network is
708. TamilNadu State Wide Area Network will link all the Government departments’ to Provide
Voice, Data and Video connectivity for improving the delivery of services to the Citizens and for
improving the response-time and transparency.

Roles and Responsibilities:

(1)As a Network Engineer:

As a Network Engineer, Planning & scheduling preventive maintenance
of WAN network services and device, Implementation and infrastructure design, Hardware trouble
shooting,Maintaining OFC systems at zone locations.

• Installed and configured CISCO 7912 IP phone with call manager.

• Installed and configured SUSE-LINUX in each and every .system.
• Coordinated for the 15KV Gen set and AC installation.
Monitoring the Network:

Monitoring the Network in ERODE District, And Co-coordinating with BSNL vendor
and state Center team to solve the Link down and Link error issues and Co-coordinating with
vendors to solve all equipments related issues. Updating the status of project implementation on
daily basis and weekly basis to Project manager and ELCOT BM.

 Monitoring Serial, DSL links and switch ports through HP Open View Console.
 Raising Ticket through HP Open view Console
 Coordinating with RELIANCE, TATA INDICOM, AIRTEL and BSNL for Leased Line
Links.
 Assigning, Escalating, Closing and resolving the calls through HP Open View
Console and following the case till the closure.
  Responsible for storing the data on the tape drive.
