g. Organizational Structure

A structure depends on the organization's objectives and strategy. In a centralized structure, the
top layer of management has most of the decision making power and has tight control over
departments and divisions. In a decentralized structure, the decision making power is distributed
and the departments and divisions may have different degrees of independence. A company such
as Proctor & Gamble that sells multiple products may organize their structure so that groups are
divided according to each product and depending on geographical area as well.

An organizational chart illustrates the organizational structure.

The general objective of the internship program is to make students familiar with the working
environment in business or non-business organizations in order to impart practical knowledge of
what they study in the campus, enhance interpersonal skills and build up self-confidence in
students.

The specific objectives

To explore how market research activities are carried on and dealt with the different
companys personnel in order to get information.
To identify the products and services offered by the Sipradi Trading Organization to its
different customers.
To acquire knowledge on activities are performed in the company and different projects
are prepared and are operated.

10. Methodology

Various surveys were carry out during the internship , in order to gain knowing about the

product and market, the study is conducted by collecting the primary data , data were taken by
using sample which is non-probability sampling based on convenience. There is need of

collecting detailed information that describes the prospects, either opportunities or challenges in

market. Hence the research design is basically exploratory and descriptive in nature.

11. Observations

I was asked to join Naikap Head office of Sipradi Trading Company from April 03, 2014.
Under the guidance of the staff I was placed in Business Development Department.

a. Function of the concerned department

In this department different projects are run in order to know which business to be started in
the market. Market based research and survey based information are collected in order to
analyze and summarize what the market condition and whether the business will be
successful or not in future. Business department is indispensable which formulates policy for
market, similarly it measures products performance in market and makes plans and policies
to expand and maintain existing market of the products

b. Detail of assigned work responsibilities

I was assigned different project regarding Exide battery which includes ,different segment of
the battery , ATB, Express, Exide inverter (invaplus) and then , I was asked to prepare the
questionnaires related to Exide batteries dealer. Preparing questionnaire for the company was
little bit tough than preparing questionnaire for college project. Every question related to the
company project has to be very properly made. Main and needed information related
questionnaires were needed to be prepared for the project. While preparing the questionnaire
intern need to be very thoughtful and focus towards preparing questionnaires for the project.
Prepared questionnaires should be in such way that it covers the required questions of the
project.
Fixing Appointment:

I was asked to make appointment with the key person, various dealers, and buyers of the battery.
Fixing appointment is done to let the key person use his free time in some useful work. This
responsibility was given in order to get the information about the performance of the batteries
within the local market and also find out about competitors. Fixing appointment is not so easy
task. Generally appointment is fixed by making the phone calls and visit to the office, work
place, home. While making phone calls to fix the appointment intern need to be patient, polite
and good listener. Intern should clear about the purpose of fixing appointment so that appropriate
time is fixed in order to not let the key person important time wasted. Appointment is fixed as
per the comfort and desire of the key person. Sometimes key person try to avoid the appointment
thinking as wastage of time, in such case intern need to convenience and let the key person feel
about the importance of the appointment. Intern need to follow the key person advice of meeting
time and place. Follow up even should be done in some cases in order to let the key person
remember about the fixed appointment. This follow up activity helps to feel the key person that
the appointment is really some value of importance.

Field visit for the Exide project:

After fixing appointment, the responsibility was to make a field visit to the different automobile
companies, business houses, repair centers (service centers), battery dealers, and individuals who
are involved in Exide battery business. For every companies and stakeholders different day and
time was fixed with appropriate places to visit. As per the fixed schedule for the appointment in
different show room and service centers of car e.g. Mitsubishi, Skoda, Suzuki, Toyota, Honda,
Hyundai, ford and Nissan, Volkswagen etc. During this visit I had to be very patient and calm in
order to make the fixed appointment valid and successful. An intern need to be calm and patient
because sometimes fixed time jus get change and vary and even long waiting hours have to be
made. Intern need not to be worried while searching the places but should be focus to make the
fixed appointment successful by searching the places in time.
After visiting the all dealers and service centers, I found that not every key person are convinced
easily and give information so flexibly. Some give information in details and some give exterior
and by making assumptions. Intern need to be very capable of using various techniques in order
to let the key person to give the needed information. Intern need to focus the important and
needed information while talking with the key person. Intern need to very careful about the time
and order to use the given time very wisely and accomplish the task in time. While visiting the
different parties, I found that many of the consumers and dealers they want to purchase Exide
because of its brand, and they are loyal to the brand and Exide acquires very strong position in
market .

I came to know that Sipradi trading , hulas group, Amco, chloride, asian batteries are in
battery business . Exide is the major players in this battery Business. They were the leading
brand in capturing the market share of different Battery segments. Even the different features and
different brands related to batteries were known. Branded and durable are maximally preferred
by the users. Main target market of battery business are industries, business farms , households,
vehicle owners, individuals, authorized service centers etc. in inverter segment demand for the
tublar battery is higher than flat plate battery in the present time. Generally tublar batteries are
mostly used in department store and hotels. Inverter batteries are expensive and, the participants
added that the customers who are aware of quality and value for money opt for dearer brands and
the market has a decent number of quality conscious customers at present. There is favorable
market for the batteries business in Nepal as it is developing country. Use of batteries is
becoming necessity for every purpose i.e. (household, business).

Recording Information:

Recording information is to keep and store the collected information properly for the further
uses. Recording information is very important and compulsory task for the employees and
interns working in the organization. Recording information helps to keep the important and
needed information so that in need it can be retrieved and be helpful in performing major tasks
and taking decisions. Information are generally recorded in the computer, file etc. Computer
based recording is very useful as it can hold and store information for a longer period of time and
even can be retrieved in time.
I was assigned to record all the collected information related to the elevators. While recording
the information I was asked to keep the important and needed information by highlighting it.
Recording the information plays a very crucial role in this department in order to prepare the
report and to evaluate whether the needed information had been collected or not. Recorded
information plays a very effective role n completion of report and makes conclusions.

While recording intern need to be very careful so that all the needed information and important
information are recorded. Even while recording intern need to follow the advice what supervisor
and manager have told him. Intern need to record the information very properly and effective.

Evaluation:

After recording the information I was asked to print the recorded the informational and evaluate
it in order to find whether there are any mistake or any information had been left out to cover. If
any information was left out to record that need to be marked and informed to the supervisor.
Evaluation cannot be done just in assumption basis but need to be very carefully and known what
had been required. Intern need to be capable of clearly know about all the needed content of the
information. Intern need to be thinkable nature and try to clearly find the mistake and left out
information.

Updating the records:

Updating the records mean to add the new collected information in the record. Sometimes some
important and necessary information just gets miss to collect or record. Such information is
collected again by visiting to the related persons business (When new information related to
same projects are required then also we need to collect and update our records. I was asked to
visit once again to the few of the elevators companies to collect some few more necessary and
required information. After collecting the necessary information that has to be recorded in the
previous related record file. While updating the extra collected information need to be kept in the
same file where previous information were recorded. Intern need not to feel hesitate to visit when
supervisor had asked him to visit the same companies for few new information. Intern had to
deal very properly as he/she had already met with the key person.

Checking the Datasheet Information:

7 years datasheet information related to the two wheelers was given to check whether the entry
had been correctly entered or not. I was asked to find the different errors, missing entry and to
correct it. Different brands name of the various two wheelers doing business companies were
listed in the datasheet. I was asked by the headmanager to enter in the missing sheet as per the
available information. I had to correct the mistakes and errors in the 7 years datasheet file
searching in the internet. I had to report to my head manager once this 7 years datasheet work
was finished. As intern one should not feel bore to analyze and find mistake. Intern has to be just
ready for every challenge and tasks which his supervisor and manager assigned him/her to
perform. Intern need to be very alert and active while checking this type of long sheet of
information. Each and every entry had to be very clearly viewed and correction need to be made
as per the mistake had been found. Intern has to carefully analyse and consult with the head
manager and hi supervisor if any problem arise.

Handling Machines:

While working in the organization employees need to have idea of handling the different
machines available in the organization.Machines can be photocopy machine, printer,
computer,Air cooler etc.Working in the business development generally need to handle the
printer and photocopy machine.

Handling Printer:

A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human-readable representation of graphics or

text on paper or similar physical media.Printer are generally used to print a large number and
required number of copies of the various documents.Printer is necessary in the organization so
that various hard copies of the documents can be printed in the needed period and required
amount.Intern need to be learn how to use the printer.Intern had to print the various documents
as per advised by the supervisor.Handling printer let the intern to handle the responsibility
without making any disturbance to the supervisor work. I was asked to handle the printer in order
to print various hard copies of the various documents.I was asked to print the every hard copied
of recorded documents in order to study and evaluate to find the various mistakes and highlight
the important information.I had to know whether the printer is on or not and while printing it was
to see whether the showing printer name to print is connected or not.

Handling Photocopy machine:

A photocopier (also known as a copier or copy machine) is a machine that makes paper copies of
documents and other visual images quickly and cheaply. Photocopy machine is used to copy
various documents copies as per the required amount and given time. This machine is used to get
the large number of documents in order to conduct various research and market survey. Intern
need to handle ths photocopy machine in this trading company. For different projects various
reasearch and market survey have to be done.To conduct market survey and research large and
alots of different questionnaires and different number of copies have to be get for which
photocopy machine play a vital role.Photocopy machine handling helps intern to get the copies
and perform the task of photocopying documents assigned by the supervisor.I was asked to copy
various and lots of copies of the various documents so that market survey for the projects can be
done.I came to know that a special code is required to unlock the photocpy machine in order to
let the responsive and only organization staff can copy the documents.Even a proper amount of
papers have to be kept in the photocopy machine so that copy can be done in sequential manner.I
came to learn that while handling the photocopy machine every stepshave to be followed very
carefully and should be very aware that no any malfunction happen to the machine.
Field Visit for the two Wheelers:

As it was clear that in business development department different projects are run and different
projects are carried on, so intern need to work in various projects carried on this department.
Sometime another project is carried on by keeping other projects in incompletion mode. This is
done in order of importance. First Important projects are carried on as per the head manager
order. I was asked to visit the various companies that are doing the business of Two wheelers.
The different companies that I was asked to visit was NGM, Golchha Organization etc. I even
visited to the various bikes showrooms. This visit main aim was to get the more information as
required and needed.

Intern need to be ready and very positive in order to perform the various tasks for the different
projects conducted in the department and organization. Intern had just be very much focus to
his/her work what his/her supervisor said to him/her. As intern I was asked to prepare the various
questionnaires in order to collect the needed information and no any information just get missed.
I had to visit and meet the key person of these various companies to make the query in order to
find the various information related to bikes available in the company.

I had to do the market survey for collecting the various information related with the bikes
available in Nepal. Market survey was done with the idea of my supervisor so that customers
view and wants can be known. Market survey was carried by preparing the various questionnaire
and even by google docs application. I had to visit to the various customers carrying the
questionnaires hard copy in my bag and filled the form asking with the various customers. This
process was playing a very great role in getting to know the customers changing view and want
related with the bike. Market Survey was done in order to for the hero bikes so that hero bike
present and future market can be analysed. This survey even can help in getting to have the
various customers in hand by making the changes as customer want while purchasing the bikes.
Various strengths and weakness was also find out by comparing the various companys bikes
information as collected in the market visit. Comparison was made on the available basis of
information.

As an intern I was able to know what the importance of market survey and to find the strengths
and weakness of different companies. I even get knowledge to use the google docs which play a
every vital role in getting the customer view and opinions. Intern should know that may be task
of getting the consumer information is hard to get but very vital clue and information can be got
in this process so let focus to work not be troublesome by the physical pain and mental stress in
getting the customers view by carrying alots of forms for getting information.

Data Entry:

Data entry is to enter the various hard copy data into soft copy. Data entry helps to get all the
information entry properly and effectively. Data entry helps to keep records of different files
information. Data entry should be done in such a way that it matches with the file information. I
had to make the various data entry as per asked by my supervisor and manager. The collected
and other crucial information was asked to make entry so that it will be helpful for my supervisor
and manager to perform the task in very effective and continuous way. I came to know the
importance of making data entry as it can be useful when any of work demands to make checks.
Data entry should be very properly done so that when it is used for any reference doesnt create
any problem. Data entry helps to maintain records of different information. Intern need to be pay
attention while making data entry. He/She should check it time to time doing the data entry show
that no any mistake and error commit. Intern need to make any type of data entry as per the given
time.

Collecting and recording the information related to Solar:

The third project in which I was assigned was the solar project. I was assigned to collect the
various prices and of different solar panels and other vital information. Solar panel prices are
different with their brands and as per their watt. In order to collect the solar related information I
was assigned to visit to the 5 to 6 companies that imports Chinese solar panels. Visiting to these
solar companies and to get the key person for interacting and know the prices of solar panels
information was not so easy. Maximumly key person are outside of the organization for
installing the different solar into various loacal hilly areas. But having patience for few days I
was able to get the information of solar panel from 4 to 5 companies meeting the key person. I
came to know about the various solar panels and different solar other components. I even learn
that maximumly Chinese panels were priced as per their watt.I even came to knew that solar
companies demand is more in hilly areas than the developed and modern cities area. Even

b. General comments and suggestion for the company

Sipradi trading pvt ltd is pioneer business organization leading the trading business,

undoubtfullly a leading trading corporation of the nation. STPL does not only fulfilling its sole

purpose, from decades it is also serving nation. In this survey I find that, there is a need of up to

date knowledge of, ongoing attack sources (rivals), their scenario and techniques and ability to

show rapid reaction to newly discovered vulnerabilities for the expansion of market.

Organization should also improve technology, communication controls, and dual controls

facilities for the customers to enhance the business.

Through this study various new findings are made. Still few customers they are not using exide

batteries. Stpl do not have basic communication means tools that helps in getting customer

feedback, existing customer care center is not sufficient and not functioning properly. But it is

found that some other brands are in lack of market achievement, regular flow of information is

not there, it is using communication for their own convenience and for the purpose of retaining

exiting customers.

No significant correlation was found between dealers dealers and workshops, However, Use of

Exide signification association was found with customers.

The market is still rising. Product is it is limited only to Kathmandu valley as well as some big

cities; still approximately 10% of the users are not satisfied by Exide.

Likewise the services provided by STPL are limited. Being prudent will be no harm for the
organization.
