The understanding of Grunig and Hunts models, as well as the term public

relations, follows the clarification from the book: Managing public


relations by Grunig and Hunt from 1984. However, throughout this thesis,
the term public relations is in general understood as defined by Public
Relations Society of Americas and that is: Public relations is a strategic
communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships
between organizations and their publics (PRSA, n.d.).

Since the publication of Grunig and Hunts Four Models of Public Relations
(1984), the Excellence Theory has dominated discussion of the theory and
practice of public relations
