ITS MY DAY
In school and in college, Independence Day was very, very special
for me. Most of my happiest memories and proud moments of
professional achievement are somehow tied up with Independence
Day. I was either the torch bearer or Id be running up to the
podium to pick up a prize on I-Days over the years. A couple of
years back I was asked to be the chief guest at my college (St
Anns College, Mehdipatnam). Since I hardly go to college, I was
surprised and touched by the honour ! When I was much younger
I would look forward to August 15 because its a holiday and we
were given sweets at school. Last year I was playing at the Beijing
Olympics and I had beaten Wang Chen on this day. It was also
around this time that Abhinav Bindra had won the gold at the
Olympics. It was such a proud moment for all Indians.
Independence Day to me was always the happiest day.
