o r f o r a n t i - C h r i s t i a n a n d radical s y m p a t h i e s b o u n d t o
r e s u l t in anti-Semitic opposition.

Opposing the Scriptures and Passion Play

P l a y in a c c o r d a n c e w i t h t h e S c r i p t u r e s . T h e Gospel
s a y s (see M a t t . 27:15-27 a n d other. G o s p e l s ) : " N o w at
t h a t feast the g o v e r n o r w a s w o n t to release u n t o t h e
people a p r i s o n e r , w h o m t h e y w o u l d " a n d P i l a t e said,
" W h o m will ye t h a t I release u n t o y o u ? B a r a b b a s , o r
J e s u s which is called C h r i s t ? " W e a r e told h o w P i l a t e

C o n t i n u i n g u n d e r t h e s u b - h e a d i n g , "Publisher Sees
the Light" is t h i s : " T y p i c a l of v e r y m a n y similar cases

 Opposing Christmas
Editorially, any observance whatever of the C h r i s t m a s
season is denounced by B'nai B'rith Magazine. T o quote
the Dec. '37 issue, p. 122: " W e k n o w J e w i s h ladies w h o
effuse secularly over C h r i s t m a s . . . 'O,' they say, ' I t ' s
not the religious implications of C h r i s t m a s t h a t appeal
to us. I t ' s the sentiment . . . kindness, justice, charity
and all t h a t . ' " T h e y are urged t o observe J e w i s h
Chanuka instead. T h e Dec. '32 editorial had similar
admonitions.
This Is Not a Christian Country?
I n an editorial advising the Jewish minority n o t to go
into politics f r a n k l y as J e w s ( M a r c h '34 issue, p. 226)
is this: " H o w we p r o t e s t when any public official so far
f o r g e t s himself as to call this 'a Christian c o u n t r y ! ' "
Jewish Kehillahs Oppose Christian Festivities
" I n Palestine, Babylon, E g y p t and Spain, and for cen-
turies in m o s t of the countries of Europe, there has
always been some sort of organized Kehillah" ( C o m -
m u n i t y Council of J e w s ) , says the article headed "20
E x p e r i m e n t s in U n i t y " ( J u n e '38 issue, p. 351) and sub-
headed, "Jewish Community Councils in a Score of Cities
Serve Local Jewries in Many Important Ways". A m o n g
the t w e n t y different "experiments in unity" of Jewish
Kehillahs in the United States described, is this ( J u n e
'38 issue, p. 351):
Eliminating Easter and Christmas Celebrations
"11. Elimination of Objectionable Religious Practices
in Schools: I n Bridgeport and Cleveland, the councils
persuaded" public school officials to stop E a s t e r and
Christmas practices which had been e m b a r r a s s i n g to t h e
-Jewish children and had found serious objection a m o n g
Jewish p a r e n t s w h o had hesitated to deal with the m a t t e r
individually."
Although there is a large body of law upholding the
view that the United States I S a Christian power** and
B'nai B'rith Magazine even admits this on page 151 of
the Feb. '33 issue, yet American gentile children must be
denied the pleasure of singing Christmas carols or enjoy-
ing E a s t e r festivities if B'nai B'rith has its way.
Hillel Foundations Against Christianity
An article in the J a n . '34 issue, entitled "Saving Stu-
dents from the Missionaries", is a plea to "the J e w s of
.America to aid B'nai B'rith morally and materially, not
only to m a k e it possible to continue this splendid serv-
ice" (of. establishing Jewish student centers at univer-
sities called B'nai B'rith Hillel F o u n d a t i o n s ) " b u t to
enlafge it . . . A f u r t h e r a n s w e r to this conference is
the continuous g r o w t h and development of Jewish Com-
munity Centers", etc.
T h e subject of the article was a report of a missionary
conference "on t h e Presentation of the Christian Mes-
sage to the J e w s " held at Budapest and W a r s a w at
which it was said t h a t now t h a t J e w r y was free and
out of the ghetto, they w e r e "gloriously reachable." T o
this the article replied, " I t is lamentable in the writer's
opinion t h a t Jews in America permit to go unchallenged
such statements".
" T h a t Christianty is a part of the Common Law of the
United States has been held in many cases. Following a r e a
few of t h e m : Vidal v. Philadelphia, 2 Howard ( U . S. S.) 127,
198; Shover v. State, 10 Arkansas 259; State v. Chandler,
2 H A R R (Del) 553; State v. Bott, 1 La. Ann. 663; State ex.
rel. Nevada Orphan Asylum v. Hallock, 16 Nevada 373;
Luedemuller v. People, 33 Barb. ( N . Y.) 548; People v.
Ruggles, 8 Johns. ( N . Y.) 290.
This subject is handled with vigor and with great clarity in
the case of Holy Trinity Church v. United States, 143 U . S.
457,468 (1891). The court in part said, on page 470: " W h i l e
because of general Recognition of this t r u t h , the question has
seldom been presented to the Courts, yet we find in Updi-
graph v. T h e Commonwealth, 11 S. & R. 394,400 ( P a . ) , it
was decided that 'Christianity is, and always has been, a part
of the Common Law of Pennsylvania.' "
I n the State v. Rosenstrausch, 5 N . J . L . J . 186, Woodruff,
Judge, said that a person guilty of blasphemy could be pun-
ished u n d e r the Common Law.
Jewish Radicalism Noted
But the writer goes on to say, " T h e Conference w a r n s
t h a t wise people will be chary of laying too much stress
on the fact t h a t many of the younger enfranchised Jews
have cast aside religious beliefs and sanctions, and have
embraced revolutionism in religion and politics . ^
now t u r n i n g to materialism, agnosticism or communism."
Hillel Director Red-Supporter
T h e Hillel Foundations of B'nai B'rith should be suc-
cessful in "Saving Students f r o m t h e Missionaries",
since the national director is A b r a h a m L. Sachar, an
official sponsor of the communist American League
Against W a r and Fascism congress held in P i t t s b u r g h ,
Nov. 1937. ( F o r the treasonable activities of the A m e r -
ican L e a g u e Against W a r and Fascism, now called
American L e a g u e f o r Peace and Democracy, its f o r m a -
tion by t h e C o m m u n i s t International, its C o m m u n i s t
officers, its promised role under C o m m u n i s t P a r t y leader-
ship of turning any war of this country into Red civil
war f o r the overthrow of the U . S. g o v e r n m e n t and the
establishing of a Soviet America, the appearance of Com-
munists within our a r m e d forces at one of their previous
Congresses pledging their aid to the Red revolution
and the overthrow of our government, see " T h e Red

Rabbi Mann Same Type
T h e acting national director of B'nai B'rith Hillel
Foundations in 1933 was Rabbi Louis L. M a n n * ( F e b .
'33 issue, p. 155) of the Communist-aiding American Civil
Liberties Union (which f r o m coast to coast springs to
the legal defense of all phases of C o m m u n i s m , atheism,
rioting, and obscenity), etc., etc.
Half Million for Anti-Defamation League
T h e fifteenth General Convention, 1938, authorized
"the raising of an e m e r g e n c y budget of $500,000 for B'nai
B'rith's Anti-Defamation L e a g u e and $100,000 for t h e
B'nai B'rith Hillel F o u n d a t i o n s " to carry on such work
as the above ( J u n e '38 issue, p. 340).
N o wonder, with such funds, t h a t t h e M a r c h '38 issue
could r e p o r t ( P a g e 238) that " O U R A N T I - D E F A M A -
T I O N W O R K IS B E I N G P R O S E C U T E D ON A
SCALE A N D IN A W A Y U N K N O W N IN T H E
PAST".
B'nai B'rith Praises Soviet Russia
and Jewish Communists
" I s J u d a i s m D o o m e d in Soviet Russia?" is the title
of companion feature articles in B'nai B'rith Magazine
( M a r . '33), one author saying " N O ! " and the other
" Y E S ! " , but both praising the Communist Soviet regime!
T o quote the " N O " m a n ( N o r m a n B e n t w i c h ) :
" I t is certain that the principal p r o p h e t of the prole-
tarian m o v e m e n t was the G e r m a n Jew, K a r l Marx, whose
picture hangs in every public institution and whose
book 'Kapital' is the gospel of the C o m m u n i s t creed;
that another German Jew, Ferdinand Lasalle, whose
heroic statue a d o r n s the Nevski Prospect of L e n i n g r a d ,
was one of the inspirers of the early revolutionary par-
ties; that J e w s have, f r o m the beginning to the present
day, played a part in t h e creation and the maintenance
of the Revolution; and that for no community has the
Revolution b r o u g h t about a greater change of status
than for the J e w s . " ( T h e y dominate Russia now.)
" T h e essential feature about their community is t h a t
the Jews, and particularly the younger generation, feel
at h o m e and p a r t and parcel of the new order. T h e y
are proud of their share in the councils of the Revolution
of T r o t s k y w h o organized the Red A r m y (though a m o n g
n o n - J e w s he is in disgrace and his n a m e is not m e n -
tioned) and of the J e w s holding high positions in the
Foreign Office and other ministries, in the A r m y and
the Navy, in the economic councils and academies.

" W h e n we landed in Leningrad, our interpreters and
guides f r o m the State T o u r i s t Organization were usually
J e w s and Jewesses. I t is t h e function of the J e w to be
the interpreter of Soviet Russia to t h e world and of the
world to Soviet Russia; for he f o r m s t h e principal ele-
m e n t in the proletarian society which has close touch
with the W e s t e r n European culture and languages. In
the trains a n d on the ships we continually m e t J e w s
proud of their people. T h e y hold up their heads and
say 'I a m a Jew', though they do not add, in the words
of the P r o p h e t Jonah, 'I fear the L o r d ' . . . I n the towns
such as Kiev, Odessa, Berdichev, w h e r e the J e w s a r e
-a quarter or more of the whole population, t h e r e are
Yiddish law courts and Yiddish codes of law, and
Yiddish is an official language. B u t t h e Rabbinical law
t h a t used to regulate Jewish family affairs m a y not be
applied. . . . M a n y of the younger J e w s are anxious
to get rid of the slender survival of separateness, the
Yiddish language. . . .
Jewish Racial Pride
"Yet Jewish pride of race is still strong, a n d ardent
C o m m u n i s t s talk proudly of the equality which has
been won f o r J e w s and of the achievement of the J e w s
in the political and economic movement. T h e y are con-
scious J e w s in spite of their C o m m u n i s m ; and if they
are opposed in theory to the Jewish national h o m e in
Palestine, they are eager to learn w h a t is happening
,there . . w e m a y expect that the Jewish m a s s of
R u s s i a will not die, nor will it be m e r g e d with the
Slav peoples. . . . T h e r e had to be destruction before
there could be new life, as well in the Jewish body as
in the body politic of Russia. T h e spiritual" motive of
the Revolution goes back to the principles of Socialism
in the teachings of the Hebrew prophets, even t h o u g h
the C o m m u n i s t denies t h e rock f r o m which he is dug."
"YES!" Man Praises Communism Also
T o quote t h e author, w h o says " Y E S ! " ( P i e r r e V a n
P a a s s e n ) : "Yes, it w a s true, I was told the n e w life
had a s t r o n g de-Judaizing tendency. N o t because anyone
forced t h e y o u t h into new channels. N o b o d y interferred
with a y o u n g m a n if he wanted to be a Talmudist
It w a s the new life itself t h a t w a s drawing J e w s ir-
resistibly into new channels. But were they happy,
these old ones? . . . 'You still feel yourself a J e w then?',
I asked.
'Still a J e w ? I a m m o r e of a J e w than ever! N o w ,
under the new regime, it is at last possible to be a real
Jew. M y f a t h e r can't . . . because his spirit is im-
prisoned by all t h e old traditions. B u t I a m free and my
sister is free and we g o the new way!' . . . Ninety
percent of the J e w s of Russia are h e a r t and soul in the
upbuilding of the new world."
More Praise of Godless Communism
An article praising^ the state of t h e J e w s in Soviet
Russia headed " J u d a i s m I s D e a d in Russia" ( M a y '34
issue of B'nai B'rith Magazine, p. 270), says: "Children
were forbidden formal religious instruction until they
reached the age of eighteen." A n d the a u t h o r wonders
if J e w s will get along without God, b u t reflects t h a t :
" J u d a i s m has always been concerned with m o r e than
God. J e w s have been held together not only by w h a t
is called religion, but also b y the bond of peoplehood
culminating in the hope of Zion restored. . . . Russia
was the very fountain head of Jewishness before the
revolution. . . . Accompanying the destruction of
J u d a i s m a n d Zionism has come a f r e e d o m J e w s have
never experienced a n y w h e r e else in the world. . . .
Stalin's second in c o m m a n d is L a z u r u s Kagonowich,
a humble Jewish leather worker, w h o t h r o u g h sheer
ability has placed himself in line to succeed Stalin as
the Communist leader of Russia. . . . Russia is the
only country in t h e world where anti-Semitism is a
crime. . . . If I were to sum up w h a t has happened to

the J e w s of Russia under the Communist regime, I
should saynew opportunities and an intensified social
idealism, but the destruction of all specifically Jewish
Spiritual values."
50,000 Jews Laud Soviet Russia
Bearing in mind that Biro B i d j a n is a Soviet territory,
purely Communist, and is represented and aided in the
U . S. A. by the C o m m u n i s t P a r t y ' s organization, "Icor",
t h e article in B'nai B'rith Magazine (May, '38 issue,
p. 309) is significant. T o q u o t e :
" M o r e t h a n 3,000 persons w h o filled M a n h a t t a n O p e r a
H o u s e in N e w York, heard Alexander T r o y a n o v s k y ,
Soviet A m b a s s a d o r to t h e United States, denounce 'inter-
national reaction and anti-Semitism.' " ( A n y opposition
to C o m m u n i s m is called "reaction", these days, or
"fascism".) " T h e occasion was the 10th anniversary of
the g r a n t i n g of Biro B i d j a n to the J e w s by the Soviet
Union. T h e meeting was sponsored by Icor. A golden
book of friendship, signed by 50,000 Jews, was pre-
sented to Mr. T r o y a n o v s k y , expressing appreciation for
the establishment of Biro Bidjan." (50,000, take note.)
B'nai B'rith Praises Radicals
An idea of the B'nai B'rith attitude t o w a r d Socialism-
C o m m u n i s m can be gleaned f r o m t h e pages of its own
organ. N o t e the following characteristic items.
A Jersey City Rabbi who had been denounced as a
Communist by certain J e w s is defended editorially 1 " and
t h e a n t i - C o m m u n i s t J e w s r e p r i m a n d e d and warned t h a t
they should have stood up for him i n s t e a d , / ' s i n c e our
safety is in saving democracy." (July '38 issue.) " D e m o c -
racy" is t h e camouflage w o r d n o w used for " C o m m u -
nism".
Deplores Burning Red Books
T h e burning, in Germany, of books by the following
Reds w a s denounced as " N a z i t e r r o r i s m " : Upton
Sinclair* (world Socialist-Communist leader w h o s e writ-
ings have been published by the Soviet G o v e r n m e n t ) ;
R o m a i n Rolland and H e n r i Barbusse, F r e n c h C o m m u n i s t
leaders; Heinrich and T h o m a s M a n n of the Communist
International W r i t e r s ' Association in Defense of Cul-
ture (see p. 61 of " T h e Roosevelt Red Record and Its
B a c k g r o u n d " ) ; K a r l Marx, "father of C o m m u n i s m " ;
Lion F e u c h t w a n g e r , of w h o m B'nai B'rith Magazine,

Justice Cardozo was praised for his "defense of t h e
r i g h t of Communists to hold and expound views he
believes to be erroneous" (the old Communist-defending

his teacher and they worked t o g e t h e r for socialistic social
insurance. Epstein's radical connections include being on
the board of directors of socialist-communist L e a g u e for
Industrial Democracy, etc. H e is best k n o w n as execu-

Recognition that Communism and J e w r y are linked
together is shown in the B'nai B'rith comment (Dec. '37

generosity to refugees" ( G e r m a n Jewish Reds) " f r o m
persecution when the Popular F r o n t won its electoral
victory last year."

Einstein Approves B'nai B'rith
Albert Einstein's endorsement of B'nai B'rith work
and his p h o t o a r e featured prominently. Einstein*t is
quoted as saying at a B'nai B'rith conference in N e w a r k ,
N. J.: " T h e m o s t effective influence is t h a t which is dorie
quietly. I do not k n o w a n o t h e r organization which can
do this work as well a s B'nai B'rith." Einstein's property
w a s confiscated im Germany because he is a Communist.
His Communist connections, with the communist W o r k -
ers International Relief, revolutionary W o r l d Congress
against W a r organized by the C o m m u n i s t International,

recently been supporting a student, Paul Beeck, at com-

W h i l e Christians are deploring the Red insistence on
sex talk and teachings, and the resultant trend t o w a r d
changed and loosened sex relations, t h e B'nai B'rith
article, " M a d e in Heaven?", says: " W h i l e the press of
the country is currently studded with articles a b o u t the
organized m o v e m e n t for changed attitudes t o w a r d m a r -

mented by radicals for his "liberal" views on sex. H e
was a protege of t h e Socialist Jewish capitalist E d w a r d
A. Filene*f w h o financed t h e N.R.A. and Socialist co-
operatives.
A long article (Dec. '37 issue, p. 132) praises Rosika
Schwimmer* and tells of the tributes paid her by Sylvia
Pankhurst*, (organizer of the British C o m m u n i s t P a r t y ) ,
C o m m u n i s t Einstein*, C o m m u n i s t R o m a i n Rolland*, and
M a r g a r e t Sanger* ( w h o started her Birth Control w o r k
with the Anarchists), and recounts also her revolutionary
activities in H u n g a r y , and how she was denied U . S.
citizenshipall in a tone of highest admiration.
B'nai B'rith Defends Communist Party
"Jewish L e a d e r D e f e n d s Boston C o m m u n i s t P a r t y at
H e a r i n g " is the heading of the account in the Com-
munist P a r t y ' s Daily W o r k e r ( N o v . 1, '37, p. 7). T o
one k n o w i n g that the principles of the Communist P a r t y
are the organization for bloody rvolution, m a s s murder,
mass theft, and enforced atheism under iron dictatorship,
with t h e Soviet Russia dictators as examples and leaders,
t h e account is revealing:
" B e f o r e recessing last week, t h e Committee inves-
tigating minority parties h e a r d J u d g e Rose, B'nai B'rith
leader i n Boston, testify t h a t his organization believes
the Communist Party has the right to agitate peaceably
for its principles. A n o t h e r Jewish leader, Maurice Gold-
smith, r e c o m m e n d e d a t h o r o u g h exposure of anti-
Semitic and Nazi organizations in Massachusetts.
Thus Jews Link Themselves with Communism
D e f e n d i n g the C o m m u n i s t P a r t y and fighting anti-
Semitism are habitually linked. J u d g e David A. Rose,
according t o his own " W h o ' s Who!', has been president
of A m o s Lodge of B'nai B'rith since 1936, and is a
Zionist and a m e m b e r of the Zionist administrative
board of the N e w E n g l a n d region.
B'nai B'rith Dissolved as Subversive
Some understanding of w h a t m a d e the anti-Semitic
Nazis in Germany " t h a t w a y " m a y be gleaned f r o m t h e
statement of B'nai B'rith that, before its G e r m a n lodges
were dissolved as subversive organizations, in 1933 in
Germany, B'nai B'rith, to quote, "constituted, with their
families and relatives, it is s a f e to say, not fewer than
100,000 of the less than 600,000 Jewish people in Ger-
many." ( J u n e '37 issue, p. 321.) Of course, Cordell Hull,
representing t h e p r o - C o m m u n i s t Roosevelt regime and
Samuel M c C r e a Cavert, General Secretary of the radical
clique controlling the Federal Council of Churches which
cooperates closely with B'nai B'rith and receives finan-
cial support f r o m it (see Federal Council Report for
1936, p. 212), protested the banning of B'nai B'rith fn
G e r m a n y (B'nai B'rith Magazine, May '37 issue, p. 252).

editorial page, M a r c h 8, 1938, the following:
"Jewish Liberal Religious O r g a n Assails T o r y Attack
on Gerson".
" T h e Reconstructionist, a Zionist and liberal J e w i s h
religious bi-weekly publication, in its c u r r e n t issue took
a s t r o n g stand against the present reactionary campaign
to remove Si Gerson f r o m the staff of Borough Presi-
dent Stanley M. Isaacs. Gerson is a m e m b e r of the
C o m m u n i s t P a r t y . " T h e Zionist editorial is then quoted
as saying, " T o d a y it is the C o m m u n i s t P a r t y t h a t m a n y
would o u t l a w ; t o m o r r o w it m a y be the Socialist P a r t y ,
and the day after t h e C.I.O." ( F o r , indeed, all three
have the sanre Marxist principles and objectives.)
B'nai B'rith for Spanish Reds
B'nai B'rith appealed for aid for the C o m m u n i s t -
controlled Loyalist forces of Spain through the American
Friends of Spanish D e m o c r a c y (May, '37 issue, p. 262).
T h e J u n e 1933 issue (p. 264) praised Inacio Bauer,
president of the J e w i s h Kehillah of Madrid, and berated
the fact t h a t "Spaniards everywhere still spoke of the
J e w as t h o u g h he were . . . a cancer in Spain."
But anti-Communists might also berate as cancerous
the h o n o r s paid to Jewish fighters for the c h u r c h -
burning, anti-Christian, Communist-controlled g o v e r n -
m e n t of Spain b y B'nai B'rith, editorially, Dec. '37 and
the B'nai B'rith account ( M a r . '38 issue, p. 234). T o
quote:

Jews Fighting in Spain for Communism
"Jewish Lifepublished m o n t h l y by N e w Y o r k State
Jewish Buro, C o m m u n i s t P a r t y " (Jan. 1938 issue, p. 16),
in an article entitled "Jewish F i g h t e r s in Spain", says.:
" J e w s f r o m practically every corner of the earth are
fighting in the Loyalist t r e n c h e s of Spain today. . . .
T h e American boys who came back were most impressed
by the broad distribution of Jews in practically every
International Brigade". T h e article goes on to describe
the Jews f r o m Germany, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Po-
land, etc., boasts that more than half of the Americans
in one battalion were Jewish and that Yiddish was the
common language and, to quote: " W e are beginning to
publish a bulletin of the International Brigade in the
Yiddish language."
Biblical Prophecy
Such rigorous Jewish efforts for racial solidarity as
are seen in every walk of Jewish life in every country,
the anti-Christian, atheistic Red revolutionary activities
of so many Jews abetted by their capitalistic Jewish
allies, are paving the way, even now, for the punish-
ments and fulfillment of prophecy. God's word will be
fulfilled.
A Christian's Duty to Jews
A Christian's duty is to try to have some part in con-
verting the "remnant of Israel" which God says will
be willing and worthy to be saved, but it is not to con-
done J e w i s h anti-Christian activities and cover over with
"good will" the Jewish race as such, for, racially, in
this age, the Jew is under God's curse, and, like the
Gentile, the Jew can, and can only, be saved by faith
as an individual. God's ultimate promises were not to
the whole Jewish race by any means but only to a
"remnant of Israel", who will look upon " H i m whom
they have pierced" and be finally restored to grace after
Armageddon (Zech. 12:10; Rev. 1:7).
"" Jews Still
A B'nai B'rith article telling how the Jews of Majorca
were forcibly Christianized (Mar. '34 issue, p. 189) says:
" W a n d e r up and down that tragic street, look in at the
shop windows. Linger not too long or you will be
urged, in the politest Spanish manner tinged with an
undefiled Semitic insistence, to enter the shops and buy.
Observe closely the faces which you see and there will
be no doubt that -they are Jews. . . . T h e y are Jews,
racial Jews,' however, even though they are the most
devout Catholics in all the island."
As the Bible Prophesied
This is so in keeping with the word of God in the
Bible, which states that the Jews would remain a sepa-
rate race, to be dealt with separately, exiled without a
King or scepter as they have been, punished, driven
back to. Palestine finally and that all but a third of
them would be destroyed for the sins denounced by
G o d ' through all Biblical Jewish prophets and Jesus
Christ. Anyone knowing the Bible prophecies knows
that, although the Arabs have the legal right to Pales-
tine, still the Jews will get it, and the beginning of their
most awful punishments will take place when they think
they are enjoying the greatest material felicity.
Amazing Power of Jewish Kehillahs
As previously quoted f r o m "20 Experiments in Unity"
(B'nai B'rith Magazine, June '38 issue, p. 351): " I n
Palestine, Babylon and Spain, and for centuries in most
of the countries of Europe there has always been some
sort of organized Kehillah".
Some idea of the political power and racial solidarity
and submission enforced by these Jewish Kehillahs can
be gained by this report (Dec. '37 issue, p. 138): "Three
Jewish-owned firms in New York City, charged with
violating the boycott against German goods, declared
their readiness to abide by the decision of an arbitration
committee. T h e committee was composed of repre-
sentatives of the firms and the Joint Boycott Council
and an impartial chairman. T h a t committee found the
firms guilty, and fined them $75,000, to be paid over to
charities. T h e y were accused of selling large shipments
of furs f r o m Germany." Can one picture any legal court
of law extracting such huge fines so readily?
Again, editorially (Mar. '38 issue, p. 227), B'nai B'rith
announced: " T h e 'excommunication' that has been de-
creed by the Budapest Kehillah bans all Jews engaged
in illegal financial transactions and in other business
activities that bring dishonor upon the Jewish com-
munity."
In all countries racial solidarity is encouraged. T h e
affiliation of the Seville Kehillah with the Barcelona
Kehillah was announced in the April '33 issue, p. 203.
Jewish Catholic Betrays Christianity for Jewry
Editorially (Jan. '38 issue), B'nai B'rith Magazine re-
joiced: " T h e happier news of the past month had to do
with one Archbishop Franz Cohen. . . . T h e Jews of
Kromeriz in Czechoslovakia were observing with spe-
cial exercises the 50th anniversary of the death of
Archbishop Cohen. . . . Archbishop Cohen was no con-
vert to Catholicism but was born a Catholic of Jewish
descent. Archbishop Cohen was a man renowned in
the church and, of course, was buried with all the dis-
tinction becoming a great leader of the hierarchy. Yet
his will brought the effect of a startling announcement.
. . . H e had left his entire estate including a Castle to
the Jews of Kromeriz. I t is not clear by w h a t inspira-
tion the archbishop was prompted at his death to con-
vert all his earthly estate to the religion of the people
of his descent. His castle became the Kromeriz syna-
gogue and to this day most of the Jewish undertakings
in Kromeriz are supported by the revenues f r o m his
estate." (Donated by Christian believers!)
Martin Luther's Opinion
Incidents like this of racial fidelity to J e w r y and be-
trayal of Christianity perhaps prompted Martin Luther
to say that if. he baptized a Jew he would want to hold
him under until he drowned, to be sure that he would
not recant.
Numerous Biblical prophecies, such as Zechariah 4:8,
tell us that after that long punishment and the final
reckoning at Armageddon only a third of J e w r y will
be allowed to survive by God. These prophecies are
interestingly paralleled by the Zionist report that two-
thirds of the Palestinian Jews vote for Socialist (athe-
istic) delegates.
Zionism Is Socialist
T h a t Zionism is Socialist is related in the "Jewish
Frontier", organ of the League for Labor Palestine
(June 1936 issue, published f r o m 1225 Broadway, N.^ Y.
City), in an article entitled " I s Palestine Socialist?":
" T h e discussion of the last Zionist Congress in Lu-
cerne left one with the impression that Palestine is now
altogether controlled by the socialists, that essentially,
Palestine is already a socialist state . . . a right-wing
speaker, pointing an accusing finger at the socialist dele-
gates to the Congress . . . concluded his speech with an
emphatic appeal to the Congress: 'Deliver us f r o m the
new bondage which the Histadrut has put upon u s ! ' "

truth is there in these words? Actually socialist influ-
ence in Palestine is unusually strong. One meets social-
ist institutions everywhere. Nearly all the bus lines of
Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem are operated by socialist
workers' cooperatives. T h e y also serve most of the inter-
city land-transportation. T h e socialist building-trade
guilds erect numerous houses. T h e beautiful modern
amphitheatre on Haifa's 'main street' belongs to the
Histadrut. Nearby, to the left, there is a modern build-
ing housing a magnificent restaurant, spacious meeting
hall and library, all of which is the property of the
Histadrut. Flanking its right is the sick-insurance build-
ing, also belonging to the Histadrut. Near the Bay of
Haifa a gigantic garden-settlement in construction will
accommodate seven thousand families. It, too, is a proj-
ect of the Histadrut. One comes across branches of the
W o r k e r s ' Bank, and is immediately informed that it is
the second largest Jewish bank in the country. T h e
stores of the 'Tnuva' offer for sale milk, butter, honey

and eggs which were produced b y socialist c o m m u n e s
and cooperative farms. T h e y a r e enterprises of the
H i s t a d r u t , the largest t r a d i n g organization of t h e coun-
try.
' " T h e same is true of Tel Aviv, J e r u s a l e m and the
smaller cities. T h e y all a r e h o n e y c o m b e d with work-
ers' clubs, cinemas and libraries, fine w o r k e r s ' settle-
m e n t s and schools . . . . T h e m o s t r e m a r k a b l e contribu-
tion of t h e Histadrut, however, consists of the socialist-
c o m m u n i s t f a r m i n g settlements, the kvutzot. . . . T h e y
are the real fulfillment of a socialist Utopia . . . M o r e
t h a n 80 per cent of the industrial workers, .'office w o r k -
ers and f a r m laborers belong to the H i s t a d r u t trade
unions. T w o - t h i r d s of t h e J e w i s h population voted f o r
socialist delegates to t h e last Congress. T h u s the
H i s t a d r u t has a specific influence on the Zionist execu-
tives. It is the bearer of the J e w i s h renaissance.
Jewish Revolutionary Heritage
" W h a t is the secret of the unusually p o w e r f u l pres-
sure exerted by t h e socialists in Palestine? . . . I t ' i s
the tradition which the early pioneers have established
in Palestine. T h e y were t h e turbulent restless revolu-
tionaries and socialists of the uprooted, capitulated R u s -
sian and Austrian dynasties. T h e y rebelled against the
old order and wished to realize in Palestine their na-
tional and social d r e a m s and aspirations. O u t of this
spirit arose the K v u t z a and the H i s t a d r u t . . . . If the
E u r o p e a n village is dominated by ultra conservative
mores and traditions, the Jewish Palestinian village, on
the contrary, breathes the air of a living socialist t r a -
dition. If the E u r o p e a n village is f u n d a m e n t a l l y counter-
revolutionary, the J e w i s h Palestinian village is revolu-
tionary.
Marxism Jewish
" P e r h a p s the origin of this unified thinking and feel-
ing m a y be traced to the deep-rooted social heritage of
the Jewish spirit. Bialik has r e m a r k e d that ' T h e finest
and m o s t exalted features of socialism are a product of
the Jewish spirit, t h e fruit of the all-embracing philos-
o p h y of life, of our prophets.' . . . W e i z m a n n came to
the very same conclusion at the Congress: ' P e r h a p s
t h e r e seems to be s o m e t h i n g in M a r x i s m which person-
ifies the teachings of t h e Jewish prophets. A n d in the
H i s t a d r u t I find the only h a r m o n i o u s synthesis of these
teachings, which were realized not in empty space b u t
on the ungrateful soil of P a l e s t i n e . ' " T h e article con-
cludes w i t h : " T h e socialists will administrate t h e cities
of the f u t u r e Palestine."
A m o n g regular contributors to this Zionist Socialist
magazine is Leon Blum, leader of the recent Socialist-
C o m m u n i s t Red F r o n t g o v e r n m e n t of France, w h o wrote
t h e filthy anti-religious book "Du Mariage" in which
he r e c o m m e n d s not only the typical Socialist principle
of free love, but r e c o m m e n d s t h a t middle aged men
seduce y o u n g girls so as to fit t h e m to take care of the
boys of their acquaintance in an experienced w a y ; he
sees n o t h i n g w r o n g in incest and thinks m a r r i a g e should
be deferred until late in life w h e n one is tired of pro-
miscuous sex adventures,, which he advocates. H e thinks
children could be cared for somehow by the families of
promiscuous couples until t h e state is ready to take care
of t h e m (as in Russia).
Blum a Zionist
Blum's article headed "Leon Blum Salutes. the His1-
t a d r u t " , a salutation and endorsement of t h e w o r k ' of
the H i s t a d r u t on its fifteenth anniversary, appears in
t h e same issue as the article above, and to quote the
magazine's c o m m e n t on h i m : " L e o n Blum . . . has
been associated with Zionism since a f t e r t h e W o r l d
W a r . . . . H e was one of t h e sponsors in the m a k i n g
of the L e a g u e for L a b o r Palestine. H e is a m e m b e r of
the P r o - P a l e s t i n e Committee of the Socialist I n t e r n a -
tional", etc.

B'nai B'rith Magazine, editorially, heads as " H o p e f u l
*News f r o m Palestine" the news t h a t "the L a b o r Maritime
Company has been organized by the H i s t a d r u t . Al-
ready $100,000 has been subscribed by t h e H i s t a d r u t
and $150,000 m o r e will be s o u g h t by sale of shares in
the United States." T h e encouraging w o r d s of Com-

Irreligious Zionism Deplored by Jew
A n article on Adolph O c h s as a J e w (Jan. '33
issue of B'nai B'rith Magazine, p. 220) shows a w a r e -
ness on his part of t h e n a t u r e of Zionism, its anti-
religious Socialist character. T o quote: " H i s chief ob-
jection to Zionism was not on the political .or economic
score. It w a s this: the Jewish religion had but a small
part in t h e Zionist p r o g r a m . A n u m b e r of leaders were
atheists, agnostics, irreligious. I t irked him t h a t the
proposed H e b r e w University did n o t include a depart-
m e n t of theology. 'A culture center', he called it, 'with-
out religion.' "
A p h o t o g r a p h of J u d a h L. M a g n e s as Chancellor of
t h e H e b r e w University in Palestine, with 14 m e m b e r s
of the faculty w h o had been exiled f r o m Germany,
appears in the M a r c h '34 (p. 193) issue of B'nai B'rith
Magazine. Magnes* w a s chairman of the executive com-
mittee of the Kehilla (Jewish C o m m u n i t y ) . o f N e w Y o r k
f r o m 1909-22, according to his own sketch in " W h o ' s
W h o in America" (1934-5). H e w a s a director of-'the
red Garland Fund*, which supplied the Communist-
Socialist-I. W . W.-atheist revolutionary m o v e m e n t with
sustaining f u n d s . H e was an organizer of t h e i n f a m o u s
"People's Council"* during the war, b a r r e d f r o m several
states, which, according to its own literature, w a s "mod-
eled a f t e r the Council of W o r k m e n ' s and Soldiers' Coun-
cils, the sovereign power of Russia today", and which
widely distributed the Soviets' proclamation appealing
for R e d revolution everywhere. H e was exposed in the
Congressional e x p o s u r e of radicals and has m o r e re-
cently been acting as Palestine correspondent of the
National Religion and L a b o r F o u n d a t i o n which dis-
tributes outright C o m m u n i s t revolutionary literature
and p r o p a g a n d a and atheist cartoons.
B'nai B'rith Supports Zionism
A t B'nai B'rith's S u p r e m e L o d g e Convention, Dr.
Israel Goldstein, president of the Jewish National F u n d
(see " T h e Red N e t w o r k " f o r his Communist-aiding
American Civil Liberties Union, National Religion and
L a b o r Foundation, and other Red connections), praised
B'nai B'rith f o r u n d e r t a k i n g "to make available t h r o u g h
his Jewish National F u n d a $100,000 tract in Palestine",
and to plant the memorial forest "to honor the memories
of two great secretaries of B'nai B'rith. the late Dr.
Boris D. B o g e n and the late Dr. I. M. Rubinow." ( J u n e
1938 issue, p. 359.) T h e donation is to purchase 4000
d u n a m s of land for a "B'nai B'rith Nachlath A l f r e d M.
Cohen" colony (Jewish Sentinel, 1/13/38, p. 31).
B'nai B'rith and the "Jewish Frontier"
B'nai B'rith Magazine- ( J u n e '38 issue, p. 365) carried
an advertisement with special blank for B'nai B'rith
m e m b e r s to subscribe to t h e " J e w i s h F r o n t i e r " (in which
t h e article quoted above " I s Palestine Socialist?" ap-
p e a r e d ) . P r a i s e f o r this radical Zionist magazine is
cited f r o m L u d w i g Lewisohn (a contributor himself),
Felix Frankfurter*")", whose 100 " H o t D o g " boys r) sta-
tioned in key places in the Roosevelt r e g i m e are said by
General H u g h J o h n s o n to wag their tails furiously at
the mention of "Moscow," and by radical Rabbi Stephen
S. Wise*, Zionist leader.
B'nai B'rith Claims Blum as Jew
On p. 367 of the same issue of B'nai B'rith Magazine
a p p e a r favorable reviews of t w o books. T o q u o t e the
one on " L e o n Blum, M a n and S t a t e s m a n " : " I n the w o r k
w e are considering now, w e have the first authorized
definitive biography of this unusual m a n and Jew, whose
work and influence are far f r o m w a n i n g in France. . . .
A c c o r d i n g to his biographers, 'as L e o n Blum's life un-
rolls itself before us, we see the Jewish strain in him
never faded. H e g r e w up in a Jewish household, he
w a s n u r t u r e d by a Jewish m o t h e r ; for years he ate Jew-
ish cuisine in the Jewish way. H e breathed a Jewish
atmosphere.' "

Roosevelt Sends Son to B'nai B'rith
On the next page is th account of J a m e s Roosevelt
bringing in person his father's greetings to t h e B'nai
B'rith convention, and on t h e n e x t page is reproduced
President Roosevelt's effusive letter greeting and praising
B'nai B'rith.
Communism and Zionism One
H o w supposedly hostile Socialist Zionism and Com-
m u n i s m intermesh, as Socialism and C o m m u n i s m always
do, for they have the same Marxist stem and aim, is
shown in a eulogistic article headed "Reuben Brainin at
75" (Aug.-Sept. '37 issue of B'nai B'rith Magazine).
H e worked for both Zionism and Communism. Brainin
is called a "pioneer Zionist whose interest in and activity
f o r the Jewish homeland antedates the first W o r l d
Zionist Congress, is one of the builders of H e b r e w
literature, and the courageous exponent of J e w i s h coloni-
zation of Soviet Russia". . . .
It relates how he, born in Russia in 1862, edited vari-
ous Zionist journals, advocated the H e b r e w University
in Palestine, which idea "bore f r u i t w h e n Chaim W e i z -
man took up the university idea and carried it to com-
pletion" (with ,Red J u d a h L. M a g n e s heading it), at
the fifth Zionist Congress; h o w he was h o n o r a r y vice-
president of t h e Zionist organization of America and
returned to N e w Y o r k in 1917, where he has lived ever
since, how he visited Palestine and Russia and toured
South Africa in 1929 in enthusiastic behalf of Jewish
colonization work in Soviet Russia.
As t h e r e is carried on a jealous brotherly dicker be-
tween J e w s over the degrees of importance between set-
tling Palestine and colonizing Biro Bidjan, Soviet R u s -
sia's Jewish state, Brainin was accused of "assisting
the Jewish section of the C o m m u n i s t Party">; and of
"failing to deny reports in the C o m m u n i s t press quoting
him as having m a d e anti-Zionist speeches". His accuser
was Bialik, w h o called him a traitor to the Zionist cause,
and finally there was a Jewish Zionist Congress all-night
trial held in Berlin in 1929. T o q u o t e : " T h e verdict of
the court w a s that Bialik was justified, b u t as a sop to
Brainin, Bialik was rebuked for using intemperate lan-
guage. Brainin forgot his personal differences w h e n
Bialik died, and hailed him as 'the personification of
m o d e r n H e b r e w culture'. . . .
Brainin Worked for Both
"Since then (Brainin) h a s championed the Biro
B i d j a n " (Soviet colony) "project in season and out
without renouncing one jot or title of his Zionism. A s
guest of h o n o r at a huge massmeeting in Madison Square
Garden in celebration of the proclamation of Biro Bidjan
as an a u t o n o m o u s Jewish territory, Brainin, t h e n 72,
received a tumultuous ovation . . . Brainin said . . . 'I
declare t h a t any J e w w h o ignores his duty to help in
t h e upbuilding of Biro B i d j a n is guilty of a sin against
his people'. . . .
" H i s contribution to Jewish life", concludes the B'nai
B'rith article, "is his adherence to the principle that t h e
fate of the Jewish people comes first, w h e t h e r partisan
slogans f o r the solution of the Jewish problem agree
or not."
B'nai B'rith for Jewish Solidarity
A n d this is the continual refrain of t h e B'nai B'rith-
racial solidarity policy. Regardless of religion, politics,
principle, nationalityalways t h e J e w is urged to keep
himself separate and in a solid f r o n t against everyone
else. B'nai B'rith Magazine (Jan. '33, p. 90) took the
sam attitude in an editorial headed "Certainly, H e W a s
O n e of U s " , concerning Baruch (Benedictus) Spinoza,
w h o was excommunicated f r o m the Jewish religion; yet
B'nai B'rith pointed out "he is one of us", and said,
" J e w r y m a y well acclaim his life", for it doesn't m a t t e r
t h a t J e w s "see the w o r l d " t h r o u g h different mental
"windows"all are J e w s .
B'nai B'rith Tries to Fool the Public
A g r o w i n g awakening on the p a r t of the public of
the extent of J e w i s h radicalism evinced the defensive an-
nouncement by t h e B'nai B'rith president at the 1938
convention, "that in every country there are very f e w
Jews in the Communist movement". Because the reverse
is true, the s t a t e m e n t in the same issue is pertinent,
t h a t $2,000,000 had been raised for B'nai B'rith's Anti-
D e f a m a t i o n League, Hillel Foundations, and the junior

B'nai B'rith "A.Z.A." in t h e 1927-29 " W i d e r Scope Cam-
p a i g n " of B'nai B'rith. Also ( J u n e '38 issue, p. 345)
"the convention endorsed B'nai B'rith's decade of co-
operation with the N a t i o n a l Conference of J e w s a n d
Christians for t h e promotion of good will." Millions
would not have to be spent for "good will" work if there
were not s o m e real cause for ill will.
Putting Christians to Sleep Through B'nai B'rith's
National Conference of Jews and Christians
E v e r e t t R . Clinchy, a u t h o r of a B'nai B'rith article
(Jan. '38 issue), entitled "A Decade of Good Will", has
been director of the National Conference of J e w s and
Christians since 1928, and w a s secretary of the Com-
mittee on Goodwill between J e w s and Christians of the
Federal Council of Churches, and secretary of the
Federal Council itself, 1928-33. T h e radically-controlled
Federal Council of Churches is financially supported by
B'nai B'rith and works closely with it, as may be seen
f r o m the following f r o m Clinchy's article:
B'nai B'rith and the Federal Council
" T e n years ago the National Conference of J e w s and
Christians was born. F o r f o u r years before t h a t the
Federal Council of Churches and B'nai B'rith had
pioneered, gingerly, yet bravely on the Committee on

are now being called "democracies", which t h o r o u g h l y
misleads unsuspecting Americans.)
"Since t h e beginning, B'nai B'rith has cooperated with
and advised with the" National Conference of J e w s and
Christians. In the days of the Federal Council's Com-
mittee on Goodwill between J e w s and Christians, D r .
Boris B o g e n " (National Secretary of B'nai B'rith) "was
an inspiration, guide and friend. A s years went on, the
scientific genius of Dr. I. M. R u b i n o w " (succeeding
National Secretary of B'nai B'rith) "influenced the prac-
tices of the National Conference of J e w s and Christians.
D r . R u b i n o w took an active p a r t ' in m a n y of the
seminars and institutes of the National Conference and
advised with Dr. Landis, our research secretary" ( w h o
helps issue the radical Federal Council p r o p a g a n d a that
has shocked all informed Christians w h o oppose the
modernistic, atheistic Red m o v e m e n t ) . T o continue

Read that over and reflect how your news is being
colored in the press. W i t h a f u n d of $500,000 f o r the
coming year, how m a n y Christian-front propagandists
can be purchased to do their bit to prevent opposition
to Jewish radicalism? Of course, one can c o u n t on all

the revolutionary L e a g u e for Industrial D e m o c r a c y ,
t w o of w h o s e sections, unemployed and student, are
a m a l g a m a t e d with the C o m m u n i s t Party, etc., etc.),
appears in the N o v . '37 issue.
" L o s Angeles L o d g e (B'nai B'rith) reaches an esti-
mated 10,000 persons each week in good will radio broad-
casts. T h e s e broadcasts are heard each week through-
out the Pacific Coast region f r o m the W a r n e r Bros.
Motion Picture Studio in Hollywood, and all are on
the general subject of good will. L o s Angeles L o d g e
has been doing this work for five years, with increas-

Hayes' Revolutionary Course
Carlton J. H . H a y e s * is a n o t h e r of the three. T h e
most illuminating bit about his work is to be found in
the autobiography of the Russian-born Jewish Com-
munist, Joseph F r e e m a n , " A n American T e s t a m e n t "
(pages 119-20). Describing H a y e s ' course at Columbia
University, which he took, C o m m u n i s t F r e e m a n s a y s :
"Half of it was devoted to the industrial revolution. Re-
quired reading included the Communist Manifesto,

students f r o m Riverside Drive, Flatbush, Chicago, D e s
Moines and points west c r a m m e d nights for e x a m s in
the agitation of Karl Marx and Friedrich E n g e l s . . .
W h i l e it lasted, most of the students, regardless of their
social origin, professed to be anarchists, socialists or
syndicalists. T h e r e were practically no apologists for
capitalism. S t u d e n t s f r o m t h e m o s t conservative families
found rational explanations of the war-shaken world in
the writings of the various revolutionary schools. Some
of t h e m talked openly of renouncing the money, factory
or estate they expected t o inherit. . . . I n m y o w n social-
ist circle, t h e C o m m u n i s t Manifesto w a s an old guide;
but now we r e a d certain passages with renewed atten-
tion, u n d e r s c o r i n g those which bore out our increasing
dislike of money culture and our g r o w i n g disappoint-
m e n t in the p r o - w a r attitude of the bourgeois intellec-

lief t h a t the w a r w a s the result of 'imperialism and mili-
tarism and nationalism, the struggle for markets, col-

Hayes Dismisses Class for Red Protest Meeting
C o m m u n i s t F r e e m a n tells (p. 107) how w h e n P r o f e s -
sors D a n a and Cattrell were expelled f r o m Columbia f o r
their Red agitation, to q u o t e : " D r . Beard protested
against the expulsion by resigning f r o m the University.
. . . T h e radical students on t h e campus called a demon-
stration to express s y m p a t h y for D r . Beard. . . . T h e
college authorities warned us t h a t any student cutting
classes to attend the meeting would be punished. P r o -
fessor Carleton H a y e s . . . circumvented this prohibi-
tion. O n the m o r n i n g of the demonstration he came
early to our class on the Causes and Origins of the Pres-
ent War,* then probably the largest in the college with
almost two hundred students. In a voice tense with
feeling, he said:
" 'Gentlemen, we have lost today in this university one
of the most intelligent, honest and courageous men w h o
ever lived. T h e r e is n o t h i n g I can say to you in my
course today as i m p o r t a n t as Dr. Beard's resignation.
T h e class is dismissed.' W e rushed to the library steps.
A m o n g the speakers w h o protested against the expulsion
of P r o f e s s o r s D a n a and Cattrell, approved Dr. Beard's
resignation was an anarchist lecturer on philosophy
named Will D u r a n t . "
H e then tells of the riotous meeting and the speeches
of the radicals, himself included, which followed.
Jews Foremost in Communist Party
T h e Congressional Committee investigating C o m m u -
nism, wfiich issued in 1931, H o u s e Report 2290, stated
(page 14): "A large percentage of all t h e C o m m u n i s t
district organizers are of J e w i s h origin." "Composition
of C o m m u n i s t membership of foreign origin in t h e United
States, estimated f r o m foreign language press and evi-
dence submitted before the committee, on membership
s t r e n g t h and not on percentage, is as follows: Jews,
Russians (Slavs)," etc.
"The largest daily Communist newspaper is t h e M o r n -
ing Freiheit, published in Yiddish, in N e w Y o r k City"
(page 20).
U. S. Chamber of Commerce Knuckles to Jewry
Evidently B'nai B'rith's A n t i - D e f a m a t i o n League
reached t h e U. S. C h a m b e r of Commerce, for the first
edition of their booklet about C o m m u n i s m was can-
celled, and re-issued, a f t e r being re-written so as to omit
mention of the J e w s and of the C o m m u n i s t Jewish
Freiheits f r o m quotations f r o m H o u s e Report 2290, leav-
ing, as a result, a lie.
B'nai B'rith Gives German Jews Away
T h e only difference between the Socialist and Com-
munist parties is one of leadership. Both a r e founded on
anti-religious, class-struggle Marxism. T h e Social D e m -
ocratic P a r t y in G e r m a n y w a s the Socialist P a r t y . T h e
"American H e b r e w " (June 3, 1938) quotes B'nai B'rith's
A n t i - D e f a m a t i o n League secretary as saying in his speech
" u n m a s k i n g the lie of Jewish Communism," that in Ger-
m a n y "most of the Jews were Social Democrats. Yet
Hitler has continuously labelled the G e r m a n Communist
as the Jewish Communist."
M e a n t to fool t h e ignorant, this is in reality a dam-
aging admission substantiating Hitler's label, for those
w h o k n o w the Red m o v e m e n t k n o w that the Marxist
Socialist principles of the Social D e m o c r a t i c P a r t y in
Germany, and of the C o m m u n i s t P a r t y , were identical,
both being Marxist. " M o s t of the J e w s w e r e Social
D e m o c r a t s " w a s letting the cat out of the b a g !
B'nai B'rith Fiction
A g r o w i n g knowledge about C o m m u n i s m , and conse-
quently about the prominence of Jewish participation,
drew f o r t h the defense at the 1938 B'nai B'rith conven-
tion that they were for "democracy" and opposed to
c o m m u n i s m as well as fascism and, to q u o t e : "Sigmund
Livingston, chairman of the A n t i - D e f a m a t i o n League of
B'nai B'rith, examined carefully t h e accusations t h a t a
disproportionately large number of J e w s are communists,
or vice versa. T h e facts and figures which he cites are
impressive and will carry conviction to the disinterested
observer. T h e r e is not, f o r example, a single Jew among
the leaders of Communism in the United States,** ac-
cording to Mr. Livingston." (B'nai B'rith Magazine, July
'38 issue, p. 391.)
Significantly, right above this is the heading " P r e s .
M o n s k y Makes U n i t y P l e a at No. 1 Conclave," saying,
" L e t there n o t be a division in Israel in times of crisis."
A n d on page 371 of t h e same issue appears this excerpt
f r o m the B'nai B'rith Constitution w r i t t e n in 1843: "B'nai
B'rith has taken upon itself the mission of uniting Israel-
ites in their own best interests and those of humanity."
Is Jewry Communistic?
L e t us see w h a t p r o p o r t i o n of J e w r y in the U . S. A. is
affiliated with some body f u r t h e r i n g the Socialist-Com-
munist movement, according to Jewish sources. "Jew-
ish L i f e " (April 1938 issue) states: " T h r e e federated
Jewish bodies e n c o m p a s s between t h e m the majority of
Jews; t h e American Jewish Congress, controlled by the
Zionists and representing the m a j o r i t y of Zionists; the
Jewish Labor Committee and the Jewish People's Com-
mittee, both of which have had national conventions in
the past months, at which their respective positions were
very clearly stated."
The American Jewish Congress (Zionist)
W e have seen that Zionist Palestine is 70% Socialist
(and besides has a Communist P a r t y ) , that Socialist-
C o m m u n i s t communes operate a large part of its indus-
try. Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, w h o heads the American
Jewish Congress, and Zionism, like m o s t Zionist leaders,
has a long Red record. H e has served on Socialist P a r t y
campaign committees, aided actively the C o m m u n i s t ' s
" L e s s o n in revolution", the Passaic Textile strike, served
on the executive committee of t h e notorious Red-aiding
Civil Liberties Bureau, now the American Civil Liber-
ties Union, right a r m of t h e Communist movement, and
m o r e recently has been on the executive committee of
the National Religion and L a b o r Foundation, which dis-
tributes C o m m u n i s t literature and atheist cartoons, etc.,
etc. H i s son, also a Zionist executive, is an out-and-out
C o m m u n i s t writer.

(hon. mem.), manager of t h e Jewish Daily F o r w a r d , So-
cialist paper printed in Yiddish, etc., etc. T h e convention
held by his g r o u p in 1934 w a s hailed by B'nai B'rith
Magazine a n d will be discussed later.
The Jewish People's Committee
T h e J e w i s h P e o p l e ' s C o m m i t t e e is headed by Com-
munist W m . W e i n e r , head of the C o m m u n i s t P a r t y ' s
f r a t e r n a l insurance society, International W o r k e r s ' O r -
der*. I t s convention held in W a s h i n g t o n Nov. 19-20,
1937, is of interest as reported in "Jewish L i f e " (Jan.
1938).
T o quote: "Close to 1000 delegates representing
H A L F - A - M I L L I O N American J e w s " (emphasis in orig-
inal) "participated in the National Conference and t h e
anti-Polish P o g r o m m a r c h on W a s h i n g t o n u n d e r the
auspices of the J e w i s h People's Committee. . . . P r a c -
tically every walk of J e w i s h life w a s represented. . . .
A spokesman for J e w i s h reaction, Dr. S. M a r g o s h e s tried
to pooh-pooh t h e whole conference by saying: ' A b o u t
a thousand delegates, representing m o s t l y L e f t and Com-
munist-controlled Jewish organizations, assembled in
W a s h i n g t o n over the week-end.' " But, the article goes
on to say, "Half a million J e w s constitute a significant
c r o s s section of American J e w r y . " Great praise of t h e
policies of President Roosevelt, the f o r m a t i o n of the Red
People's F r o n t and eulogy of the address of Rep. J o h n
M. Coffee of W a s h i n g t o n ( w h o was h o n o r e d by t h e
C o m m u n i s t P a r t y ' s " S u n d a y W o r k e r " ) follow.
S. Margoshes, r e f e r r e d to as "reactionary" above, is
vice president of Rabbi W i s e ' s American Jewish Con-
gress, and editor of the " D a y " .
Weiner Soothes Wise
H o w e v e r , C o m m u n i s t W m . W e i n e r , head of the J e w -
ish People's Committee, in another article, apologizes
to Rabbi Wise, saying that his purpose is " T o speed up
the unification .of the Jewish people so that they can take
their rightful place in the a r m y of d e m o c r a c y " (the new
n a m e for C o m m u n i s m ) , and that "if certain w o r d s and
expressions occurred in our discussions which offended
individuals we are p r o f o u n d l y sorry. L e a s t of all are we
desirous of conducting a personal campaign against
Rabbi Stephen W i s e w h o m a y have been offended by
certain of our expressions which occurred in the heat
of polemics. ' W e are aware of his courageous stand in
support of Spain and China, of his progressive position
against reaction in the United States." ( I n other words,
his radicalism is appreciated.) But he accuses the A m e r -
ican Jewish Congress of being "anxious not to antag-
onize the anti-Semites in the United S t a t e s " and so it
opposes the D i c k s t e i n - O ' T o o l e Resolution to admit J e w -
ish refugees to the extent of all unused quotas during the
past year about 125,000 J e w s to enter immediately.
W e i n e r ' s Jewish People's Committee is backing this res-
olution. W e i n e r points out t h a t his appeal in t h e n a m e
of the "hundreds of t h o u s a n d s of American J e w s affili-
ated with our Committee" had b e a r i n g on President
Roosevelt's proclamation concerning the "refugee p r o b -
lem a few days later". ( C o m m u n i s t Midwest Daily
Record, J u n e 20, '38.)
The Jewish Labor Committee
B'nai B'rith Magazine (April, '34) hailed the confer-
ence held by " t h e very large and i m p o r t a n t Jewish
Socialist or labor e l e m e n t " with r e g f e t t h a t it was not
a p a r t of the J o i n t Council f o r m e d by B'nai B'rith,
composed of the American Jewish Congress (Rabbi
W i s e ' s ) , American Jewish Committee, and B'nai B'rith,
b u t said, "it is comforting to k n o w t h a t labor is, under

whatever circumstances, ready to be of service to the
oppressed and harassed in Israel."
T o q u o t e f u r t h e r : " W i t h t h e leading Jewish Socialist
organizations, large t r a d e unions and other labor bodies
represented by over one t h o u s a n d delegates, this recent
conference equalled in size and resembled in character
the one t h a t w a s held at the outbreak of the war.** It
was estimated that the delegates acted and spoke for
m o r e than a half a million organized Jewish toilers, and
spoke for t h e m in behalf of specific JEWISH
I N T E R E S T S , but f r o m a distinctly labor point of
view. . . .
" T o show the w o r l d t h a t w e have great armies of
labor is a very good thing, but to have the same world
note that these hosts are largely of a radical f r a m e of
mind, is s o m e t h i n g about which w e have in t h e past
been somewhat s q u e a m i s h . . . . T h e radical labor view was,
at any rate, fully represented at this g a t h e r i n g w h e r e a
lengthy preamble to the main resolutions affirmed a
number of principles relating to the rule of labor in t h e
struggle for the maintenance of -full rights of Jews.
I s u m m a r i z e one or t w o of these points. ' I t is clear
to us . . . t h a t the attacks upon u s ' " ( J e w s ) . " ' o f the
present day are, a f t e r all, closely bound up with the
general social struggle, which is gradually encircling
the entire world as a conflict b e t w e e n capital and labor
. . . ' " (Communism-Socialism). " ' I t is n o t the inten-
tion of J e w i s h labor to interfere with the constructive
efforts in J e w i s h life carried o n b y other g r o u p s ' "
(Racial solidarity). ' " O n the c o n t r a r y it is our aim, to
strengthen and enforce every important general step
through energetic and planned s u p p o r t . . .' Repre-
sented at this conference was also a group "of other
labor organizations espousing a n o t h e r view of Jewish
life, a philosophy which is a composite of both Socialism
and Zionism."

f o r Jewish Affairs f o r m e d there, w e r e : B. C. Vladeck*,
P r e s i d e n t ; I. Baskin; David Dubinsky*f, w h o was exiled
to Siberia f o r Russian revolutionary activities; Joseph

Yes, Jewry Admits It Is Radical
American Gentiles are as innocent as kittens of the
large n u m b e r of Red organizations that have been
functioning f o r years a m o n g the Jews, carried on in
Yiddish, which Gentiles can neither read nor under-
stand.
If the three federated Jewish bodies just described
(American Jewish Congress, Jewish L a b o r Committee,
and Jewish People's Committee) "encompass", as W m .
W e i n e r said, "the m a j o r i t y of J e w s " in the United States,
the extent of Jewish radicalism and the need of B'nai
B'rith's A n t i - D e f a m a t i o n L e a g u e to prevent awareness
of this is apparent. T h e Jews, being so largely radical,
with good cause habitually fight a n t i - C o m m u n i s m as
anti-Semitism. T h e C o m m u n i s t P a r t y ' s Daily W o r k e r ,
Apr. 27, '38, p. 6, column 4, under the sub-heading,
"Stalin's Statement", says, in an article on J e w s in
America:

British Paper Denounces B'nai B'rith
T h e F r e e Press, issued by the Militant Christian
P a t r i o t s (93 Chancery Lane, London, W . C 2 ) , heads
its article on B'nai B'rith (July 1938 issue) "An Inter-
national J e w i s h Secret Society". T o quote:
" O n e of the m o s t powerful Jewish societies in the
world is the 'Independent O r d e r of B'nai B'rith'. B'nai
B'rith m e a n s literally (in H e b r e w ) Sons of the Cove-
nant, t h e Covenant being circumcision. F o u n d e d in
N e w York in 1843, the order was not established in
E n g l a n d until 1910, but since that t i m e it has succeeded
in gaining a controlling influence over all Jewish organi-
zations in Great Britain. A m o n g the m e m b e r s today
are Cljaim W e i z m a n n (the Zionist leader), Dr. J. H .
H e r t z (the Chief Rabbi), M r . Neville Laski (President
of the Jewish Board of Deputies), and Mr. Israel Moses
Sieff (well known Zionist and communal worker, and
chairman of P . E . P . ) " . ( P . E . P . is a socialistic scheme
that has been likened and peculiarly linked to the N e w
Deal.)
Pressure on World Governments
"A short history of the B'nai B'rith in E n g l a n d writ-
ten* b y Paul Goodman, a P a s t President, for private
circulation a m o n g members, gives a clear insight into
the w a y - i n which pressure is put upon g o v e r n m e n t s
throughout the world in Jewish interests . . . " "B'nai
B'rith is Zionist'In Palestine, the B'nai B'rith played an
unique part before Zionism laid there tKe foundations
of the Jewish National H o m e ' " , says Goodman, and
" I n the United States, the order is clearly 'the power
behind the President' ".
Alliance Israelite U n i v e r s e l l e
G o o d m a n writes, (p. IS) " 'In political cooperation
with the A L L I A N C E I S R A E L I T E U N I V E R S E L L E
and other national and international Jewish bodies,
the B'nai B'rith has for many decades been recog-
nized as representative of American J e w r y and as
specially enjoying the confidence of -the American
Government in t h e protection of Jewish interests
abroad. . . . B'nai B'rith was instrumental in ulti-
mately securing the abrogation by t h e United States of
t h e commercial treaty with Russia owing to its refusal
to visa the passports of American J e w s visiting that
c o u n t r y . ' " T h e article states: " I n view of the part
played by Jewish organizations abroad in t h e a r m i n g
of Russian J e w s to fight against the Russian m o n a r c h y
this refusal was not surprising." T h e intrigue and pres-
sure exerted within the British Government by B'nai
B'rith is pointed out."
Schiff Financed Soviet Revolution
In connection with the above statement about J e w s
abroad a r m i n g the Russian Jews t o fight the Russian
m o n a r c h y is the revealing account concerning J a c o b
Schiff in t h e "Jewish Communal R e g i s t e r " issued by the
N e w Y o r k City Kehillah in 1918 ( f r o m 3S6 Second
Avenue). O n p. 1018, under the " W h o ' s W h o " of Jacob
H e n r y Schiff, is this: " M r . Schiff has always used his
wealth and his influence in the best interests of his
people. H e financed the enemies of autocratic Russia"
(the Bolsheviks) "and used his financial influence to
keep Russia f r o m the money m a r k e t in t h e United
States." I t also relates that he w a s b o r n in G e r m a n y
in 1847, came to America in 186S, "where he joined the
staff of a banking house. I n 1873, he returned to E u r o p e
where he m a d e connections witth some of the chief
German banking houses. U p o n r e t u r n i n g to the United
States, he entered the banking firm' of K u h n , L o e b and
Company, N e w York, of which he later became the
head. . . . T h e firm of K u h n , L o e b and Co. floated the
large Japanese War Loans of 1904-5, thus making pos-
sible the Japanese victory over Russia. . . . W h e n last
year M r . Schiff celebrated his seventieth birthday, all
t h e factions of J e w r y in the United States and elsewhere
united in paying tribute to him."
Schiff's Son-in-Law
"A P R I N C E W H O C H O S E T O B E A S E R V A N T
O F I S R A E L " is the title of the eulogy of Felix M.
W a r b u r g , son-in-law of Jacob Schiff, after his death
(Nov. '37 issue, B'nai B'rith Magazine, p. 83). T o q u o t e :
"Felix W a r b u r g was always, par excellence, the J e w
. . . he married the d a u g h t e r of J a c o b Schiff w h o in his
time w a s the great figure in Jewish life that later Felix
W a r b u r g was to become. Indeed, it m a y be said t h a t
Felix W a r b u r g became the spiritual heir of Jacob Schiff.
. . . I n the year 1896 he joined the banking house of
K u h n , L o e b and Co. and quickly rose to eminence in
the field of finance . . . " (so he had a part in the
financing of Russian Reds and the Japanese war loans).
" H e m i g h t not believe in Zionist ideology but he could
go with Zionists to help build a good homeland for
J e w s ; and he w e n t with them. His heart was as eager
as W e i z m a n n ' s . H e t h o u g h t of himself not as a servant
of one portion of Israel but he was of the whole
house and wherever J e w r y needed to be served he
served."
T h o s e w h o are mystified at Jewish financiers sup-
porting the C o m m u n i s t m o v e m e n t may well read that
over again.
B'nai B'rith and the Alliance Israelite Universelle
T h e "Jewish Communal Register" of the N e w Y o r k
City Kehillah, just referred to, says (p. 886): " A s one
of t h e few g r e a t Jewish international organizations, the
O r d e r B'nai B'rith w a s in a position to exercise con-
siderable influence in favor of J e w s the world over. . . .
T h e order has close affiliation with all great Jewish
bodies, such as t h e A L L I A N C E I S R A E L I T E U N I -
V E R S E L L E , the Jewish Colonization Association, the
American Jewish Committee, etc. . . . "
Jewish Messianic World Power
B'nai B'rith, in an article praising radical L u d w i g
Lewisohn, reveals that racial solidarity and striving f o r
Messianic world power, instinctively Jewish ( M a y '33
issue, p. 245), when it c o m m e n d s his books as "Messianic
therefore characteristically Jewish in their motivating
force." Again, Mike Gold, Russian Jewish columnist for
the Communist P a r t y ' s Daily W o r k e r , is referred to
( M a y '32 issue, p. 233) as one in the revolutionary move-
m e n t symbolic of the Jewish literary renaissance and of
"the Jew, not solely as a theological entity but as a
national, international and esthetic selfhood." T h a t capi-
talist O t t o K a h n financed Mike Gold ( K a h n admitted
this in a personal letter seen by the a u t h o r ) , fits in with
t h e following analysis.
Adolph Cremieux
The A L L I A N C E I S R A E L I T E U N I V E R S E L L E ,
with which B'nai B'rith is affiliated, was founded by
Adolph Cremieux. " T h e life of Adolph Cremieux
and the activities of his Jewish contemporaries,
belonging to widely divergent social spheres, illus-
trate forcibly the concerted plan of Judaism to reach
its secret Messianic hope of world domination," says
L a d y Q u e e n b o r o u g h ( E d i t h S t a r r Miller) on page 415,
volume 2, of "Occult T h e o c r a c y " (printed in F r a n c e ) .
T o continue: " W h e r e a s in Gentile life, there is an un-
bridgeable abyss between Conservatism and Anarchy,
Religion and Atheism, there is no such chasm in the
Jewish mentality. There, all currents, no m a t t e r in w h a t
direction they m a y seem to flow, are finally united and
channelled in one unique direction. . . . Adolph Cremieux

Cremieux's Communist Activities
T h e r e are a n u m b e r of pages on his activities, includ-
ing t h e following items: " H e had been one of the fore-
m o s t speakers-in an association k n o w n as t h e C a m p a g n e
des B a n q u e t s which had done so m u c h to p r o m o t e the
revolution of F e b . 1848. . . . Cremieux had had hopes
of being m a d e Chief Executive u n d e r Louis Napoleon
and t h u s play in F r a n c e t h e same role t h a t Disraeli
played in E n g l a n d , that is ruling the country f r o m behind
the scenes. Both Disraeli and Cremieux had t h e same
financial backing, namely the wealth of t h e Rothschilds
and Montefiores, w h o in L o n d o n were friends of Disraeli
and, in Paris, friends of Cremieux. Cremieux was there-
f o r e keenly disappointed w h e n General Cavignac w a s
appointed P r i m e Minister in the Republican G o v e r n m e n t
of Louis Napoleon, and as revenge, he directed his
activities against t h e Prince President, his f o r m e r friend.
Cremieux was imprisoned at Yincennes and^ Mazas.
After his release, he m a d e himself t h e champion and
defender of the Communist associates of Karl Marx, the
revolutionaries Louis Blanc, L e d r u Rollin, P i e r r e L e r o u x
and others. . . . F r o m 1871 until his death, it can safely
be asserted that Cremieux as President of the A L L I -
A N C E I S R A E L I T E U N I V E R S E L L E . . . exercised
a tremendous influence u p o n the anti-religious campaign
which followed the F r a n c o - P r u s s i a n W a r . In this as in
all his lifelong activities, Cremieux w a s only obeying
the teachings of the T a l m u d a n d trying to destroy every
religion b u t t h a t contained in J u d a i s m . H i s favorite
t h e m e w a s t h a t there should be only one cultand that
cult should be Jewish."
Penetrating All Religions to Level Them
"At a general assembly of the A L L I A N C E I S R A E L -
I T E U N I V E R S E L L E , on May 31, 1864, C r e m i e u x h a d
said: ' T h e Alliance is not limited t o our cult, it voices
its appeal t o all cults and w a n t s to penetrate into all
t h e religions as it has penetrated into all countries. L e t
us endeavor boldly to bring about the union of all cults
u n d e r one flag of U n i o n and P r o g r e s s ' ( U n i o n and P r o g -
ress w a s the n a m e given to several revolutionary asso-
ciations)".

leveling all religions to n o religion.
The Protocols

Cremieux? H i s activities are one of the clearest exam-
ples of Jewish internationalism and Jewish efforts for

ternational Finance, would spell the doom of Christian
civilization, the destruction of nationalism, the death of
nations upon whose ruin has been erected a new T e m -
ple of Solomon, containing the treasures a n d material
wealth of the whole world, and over which is placed the
six pointed star of Zionism. T h e m e a n s for the attain-
ment of Cremieux's ambition are set f o r t h in a book

B'nai B'rith and the New Deal
As t h e English Jewish past president of B'nai B'rith,
Paul Goodman, w r o t e : " I n the United States the order
is clearly 'the power behind the President' ".
B'nai B'rith most enthusiastically hails the N e w Deal
(nicknamed the "Jew D e a l " ) , which is also so openly
backed by the C o m m u n i s t P a r t y . As E a r l B r o w d e r ,

Secretary of the Communist Party, etc., in his book, " T h e
People's F r o n t , " page 13, says: " T o d a y we are e m p h a -
sizing t h a t Roosevelt's p r o g r a m m a t i c utterances of 1937,
when combined with the legislative p r o g r a m of t h e
C.I.O. (his main labor s u p p o r t ) , provides a People's
F r o n t p r o g r a m of an advanced type, that the organiza-
tion of the m a j o r i t y of t h e people for struggle to realize
this p r o g r a m is t h e main road today to the creation of

Roosevelt Gets Jewish Medal
" F o r distinguished service to J e w r y d u r i n g 1936, Presi-
dent Franklin D. Roosevelt was awarded the Rich-
ard J. H . Gottheil medal by Zeta Beta T a u fraternity",
says the B'nai B'rith Magazine J u n e '37 issue (p. 308).
Roosevelt sent his son J a m e s to deliver in person his
message of congratulation to B'nai B'rith at its conven-
tion.
A whole article, with large photo, praising Mrs. Roose-
velt and her speech as "first speaker in a lecturfe series
sponsored by the B'nai B'rith. Hillel Foundation at the
University of Illinois", w h e r e she was presented by the
national director, A b r a h a m L. Sachar, appears in the
Dec. 1937 issue. O t h e r speakers listed for the series
included: J a m e s W a t e r m a n W i s e of the c o m m u n i s t
People's P r e s s ; A n n a Louise Strong, editor of Soviet
Russia's Moscow Daily N e w s ; Julien Bryan, leader of"
Soviet Government Intourist t o u r s ; A. L. Sachar, national
director of the Hillel Foundations and sponsor of t h e
Congress of t h e communist American L e a g u e against
W a r and Fascism (1937).
Mrs. Roosevelt and B'nai B'rith
Mrs. Roosevelt received in person T h e r e s a Mayer
Durlach*, founder and president of radical W o r l d Peace-
ways, and Estelle Sternberger*+, a m e m b e r of its execu-
tive committee and editor of the W o m a n ' s P a g e of B'nai
B'rith Magazine, endorsed their p r o g r a m and urged t h e m
to visit her in W a s h i n g t o n , according to the April '33
issue (p. 204). Estelle Sternberger later was one of the
three executive directors of Roosevelt's Good Neighbor
League.
Roosevelt Congratulates Wise
W h e n radical " D r . Stephen S. W i s e was honored at
a testimonial dinner in N e w Y o r k " says the J u n e '37 issue
(p. 308), " a m o n g those w h o sent messages of congratula-
tion were President Roosevelt, D r . Albert Einstein*,
M a y o r L a Guardia*. President Alfred M. Coh<;n of B'nai
B'rith."
Roosevelt Congratulates Silver
"President Roosevelt was a m o n g the notables all over
the country who congratulated R a b b i Hillel Silver* upon
his 20th anniversary as spiritual leader of the T e m p l e
in Cleveland." ( J u n e '37 issue, p. 309.)
Rabbi Silver* is a national c o m m i t t e e m a n of the notori-
ous Communist-aiding American Civil Liberties Union,
battle-ax for all phases of C o m m u n i s m everywhere in
the U.S.A., etc., etc.
B'nai B'rith Gushes Over "Miss" Perkins
Hailing the appointment of Frances Perkins, f o r m e r
m e m b e r of the Socialist P a r t y , and co-worker with Mrs.
Roosevelt in the c o m m u n i s t - G a r l a n d - F u n d - s u p p o r t e d N a -
tional Consumers' League, etc. (see p. 84 of " T h e Red
N e t w o r k " ) , B'nai B'rith Magazine heads its editorial,
"Hope of N e w Deal for I m m i g r a n t s " (Jan. '33 issue,
p. 195) and s a y s : " W e m a y look for a juster, kindlier
interpretation of immigration laws in the gentle and
enlightened new Secretary of Labor, Miss Frances P e r -
kins. . . . In Miss Perkins is an illuminated social
worker. . . . In the past ten years the attitude has been
based on the spirit of a r r o g a n t nationalism. . . ." T h e r e
is much more g u s h i n g praise of Miss Perkins, who, it is
to be noted, insists on following the custom of the Reds
w h o regard marriage ties as "capitalism" or private o w n -
ership and keep their own maiden names regardless of
the men they live with. "Miss" Perkins is the m o t h e r of
Paul W i l s o n ' s daughter.
Roosevelt-B'nai B'rith Aims Akin
W h e n seven B'nai B'rith lodges celebrated and sent
$600 to Roosevelt's W a r m Springs Foundation, Governor
H o r n e r (whose real name is " L e v y " ) wired "as a brother
B'nai B'rith", saying: " I t seems to m e that it is partic-
ularly fitting for B'nai B'rith to take part in celebrating
the birthday and achievement of President Roosevelt.
A kinship is to be found between the aims which he ex-
emplifies and the purposes for which B'nai B'rith carries
on." (April '34 issue, p. 261.)
Mordecai Ezekiel
T h e appointment of Mordecai Ezekiel to the A.A.A.
as economic advisor to H e n r y Wallace* was hailed by
B'nai B'rith. Ezekiel "literally borrowed f r o m the pres-
ent economic plan of the Soviets" and, with radical
Tugwell*, they "are t o be properly regarded as the brain
cells and spark plugs of the N e w Deal" (Chicago Tribune,
2/28/36).
J. David Stern
T h e Feb, '34 issue carries a full cover photo of J. David
Stern entitled " T h e fearless, progressive editor w h o has
bought the New York Post and is continuing its liberal
tradition." President Roosevelt's letter to Stern starting
" M y dear D a v e " and congratulating Stern on his acqui-
sition of t,he Post, is reproduced. T h e article tells how
Stern founded and edited "the organ of the Philadelphia.
Y.M.H.A.", how his Philadelphia Record was "liberal"
and "some even called it radical", and that in it "Stern
showed that he was as good a Jew as he was an editor.
. . . F r o n t page editorials denouncing the Nazi policies
revealed Stern's latent Jewishness. H e w a s also one of
the earliest advocates of the anti-Nazi boycott. H e be-
came treasurer of the American League for Defense of
Jewish Rights. . ; . T h s Record spokse out fearlessly
for u n e m p l o y m e n t insurance, federal relief of the unem-
ployed, and the use of federal credit to create jobs by a
v^ist p r o g r a m of public works. In this progressive stand
Stern looked about for a leader and his glance turned to
Albany, New York, where F . D. Roosevelt was serving
his first term as Governor. Long before observers
thought that Roosevelt had a chance for the presidency,
the Record was urging his nomination by the Democratic
P a r t y . Stern who was a New Dealer before the Roose-
velt administration came into power, has been one of the
N e w Deal's most consistent champions."
Stern a Red Mouthpiece
T h e claim by the H u d s o n News that Soviet funds p u r -
chased the P o s t has neither been proved nor denied.
Sternf received a Federal Reserve Board Bank post f r o m
Roosevelt.
Said the " H u d s o n N e w s " : "Today, Stern's papers are
the unofficial o r g a n s in t h e 'sneak communist' field for
defense and praise of Soviet Russia."
T h e Communist-aiding American Civil Liberties
Union's annual report (1936) said gratefully regarding
two pet Communist propaganda cases: " O u r friends
and member's contributed $3,663 for the T o m Mooney
and Scottsboro cases. Of this a m o u n t $762 came f r o m
appeals for the Mooney case in the N. Y. E v e n i n g P o s t
and Philadelphia Record through the cooperation of
J. David Stern, publisher."
" W h e n David Stern, Philadelphia publisher, bought
the P o s t last December, he received a letter f r o m his old
friend President Roosevelt, which said in p a r t : 'My dear
D a v e : I am delighted to hear of your purchase. T h e r e
is a place for the right kind of newspaper in N e w York'.
And the right kind it turned out to be. In editorial and
news columns it has flayed W a l l Street, upbraided radical
M a y o r La Guardia for not being radical enough and con-
centrated on campaigns about police brutality to strikers
and picketers." (Chicago Tribune, 8/20/34.)
Dickstein ServesWhom?
Of Russian-born Samuel Dickstein, a B'nai B'rith
m e m b e r , as Chairman of the I m m i g r a t i o n and N a t u r a l -
ization Committee of Congress, a B'nai B'rith article s a y s :
" I t is particularly significant t h a t a J e w should hold this
committee chairmanship, f o r his predecessor was very
hostile to all immigration, a subject close to the hearts
of many Jews. In his capacity as chairman of this com-
mittee Congressman Dickstein has well served his coun-
try." ( O r B'nai B'rith J e w s ? )
Steinhardt and Strauss
Roosevelt's appointment of L a u r e n c e Steinhardt, a
Jew, as Minister to Sweden, and of Jesse Strauss, a
Jew, as A m b a s s a d o r to F r a n c e , w a s greeted editorially
( J u n e 1933) as a delightful slap at Germany's attitude
toward Jews. Steinhardt (a m e m b e r of the firm of Gug-
genheimer and U n t e r m y e r , and a relative of radical S a m -
uel U n t e r m y e r * f , head of the German boycott move-
m e n t ) had, according to B'nai B'rith Magazine (p. 266)
"served m a n y Jewish causes, including t h e American
Federation of Zionists, American Zionist C o m m o n -
wealth, Y o u n g Men's Zionist, Y o u n g J u d e a and the
Federation Settlement."
But "American" for Jews to Attack Christianity
Typical of B'nai B'rith's attitude t o w a r d radical J e w s
is the following concerning three Jews, two of them
being Roosevelt appointees:
"In Ohio is pending a bill for unemployment insur-
ance which w a s d r a w n by a commission of which Dr.
I. M. Rubinow*t, Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver*, and P r o f .
W m . M. L e i s e r s o n * t were members. W e do not speak
for or against u n e m p l o y m e n t insurance; b u t we a b h o r
as un-American a plan of attack t h a t a t t e m p t s t o dis-
credit unemployment insurance on the g r o u n d that these
three Jewish commissioners were born in Russia. . . .
T h e i r being born in Russia ( f r o m which they emigrated
years ago) is a circumstance that is m a d e to appear to
unfit them f o r a public service in the United States."
And Morgenthau Controls U. S. Gold!
Editorially (Feb. 1934) B'nai B'rith Magazine rejoiced
in the appointment by Roosevelt of H e n r y M o r g e n t h a u ,
Jr., "who has attained the second highest place in the
Cabinet" and (p. 159) says, as Secretary of the Treasury,
M o r g e n t h a u "is the second J e w to occupy a place in
Presidential Cabinets in American history."
La Guardia's Jewish Ancestry
Below this the details concerning N e w Dealer M a y o r
L a Guardia's Jewish ancestry are given. His m o t h e r who
was "born and died a J e w e s s " being " I r e n e Coen of the
Israelitish religion", his father, Achille, being of "no
religion", his sister Gemma Glick, "of Jewish religion,
being active in Jewish life in Budapest today."
Mrs. H e n r y M o r g e n t h a u , Jr., is h o n o r a r y president
of the W a s h i n g t o n B'nai B'rith A r g o L o d g e auxiliary
of 600 members. (July, 1938, p. 390.)
Jewish Congressmen
T h e large number of Jewish appointees have given the
N e w Deal the nickname " J e w Deal". Concerning elected
representatives, however, B'nai B'rith in an article,
" J e w s in the N e w Deal" said, "Privileged to be officially
in on President Roosevelt's sensational 'new deal' are ten
Jewish m e m b e r s of the H o u s e of Representatives", with
the r e m a r k that there should be m o r e Jewish members.

Samuel Dickstein: Russian born B'nai B'rith m e m b e r ,
listed as a defender of the foreign born in Congress by
the communist American Committee for Protection of
Foreign B o r n (3/4j/38). Private papers seized by
his Committee f r o m a n t i - C o m m u n i s t H a r r y J u n g were
photostatically reproduced p r o m p t l y in the communist
N e w Masses and Daily W o r k e r .
William I. Sirovich: T o quote the N e w Y o r k Tele-
g r a m 10/17/33: "Representative William I. Sirovich
(D., N. Y.), w h o just returned f r o m Soviet Russia and
r e p o r t e d his observations to President Roosevelt, today
declared t h a t he expected recognition within a m o n t h .
H e said that t h e President's n a m e h a d been cheered in
L e n i n g r a d when he mentioned it in a speech."
T h e Chicago T r i b u n e 7/14/33 s t a t e d : "Representative
William I. Sirovich (Dem., N. Y.), doctor, playwright,
and congressman, and Sam G. L a m p o r t , textile expert
w o r k i n g with f o r m e r Senator Smith B r o o k h a r t * f , w h o
is n o w the d e p a r t m e n t of agriculture's Russian specialist,
are going to Russia on an unofficial visit, looking t o w a r d
recognition. A l r e a d y convinced themselves that Russia
should be recognized immediately, they said today that
they were sure their 'study' would win over the presi-
dent."
H e was listed by the; c o m m u n i s t American Committee
for Protection of Foreign B o r n as a defender of the
foreign born in Congress. (3/4/38.) H e introduced the
Communist and C. I. O.-backed bill to establish per-
m a n e n t l y a government- supported Bureau of Fine Arts,
under the D e p a r t m e n t of Interior (Daily W o r k e r ,
5/27/38, p. 3), and endorsed the Communist P a r t y ' s
U n e m p l o y m e n t and I n s u r a n c e Bill, H . R. 2827 (Daily
W o r k e r , 2/15/35). H e supported t h e Communist-backed
Schwellenboch-Allen Resolution.
Sol Bloom: Accused of capitalizing on the Sesqui-
centennial celebration of t h e U . S. Constitution; sup-
p o r t e r of the Communist-backed Schwellenbach-Allen
Resolution ( W a s h i n g t o n P o s t , 8 / 1 8 / 3 7 ) .
Adolph J. Sabath: B o r n in Czechoslovakia; pledged
his s u p p o r t of the C o m m u n i s t P a r t y ' s U n e m p l o y m e n t
and I n s u r a n c e Bill ( H . R. 2827), (Communist Daily
W o r k e r , 2/16/35).
Herman Paul Koppleman: B o r n in Odessa, Russia;
m e m b e r of the American Jewish Congress and of the
Zionist Organization of America. H e was one of the
60 Congressmen greeting the Red Spanish P a r l i a m e n t
(Daily W o r k e r , 1/31/38). H e supported the Red-backed
Schwellenbach-Allen Resolution; is a committee m e m -
ber of radical W o r l d Peaceways* of which B'nai B'rith
editor, Estelle Sternberger, is a leader, and w a s one of
the H o u s e m e m b e r s to ask aid of Roosevelt for Com-

W h e n Ellenbogen w a s elected in 1932 he had been a
citizen only six years and five months-, b u t the H o u s e
Elections Committee allowed h i m to be seated holding
that he h a d been a citizen the required seven, years w h e n
s w o r n in. ( P i t t s b u r g h Sun Telegram, 5/2/34.)
N o t e the activities of 7 out of 10 of these Jewish

B'nai B'rith for AliensJews
W h e n t h e Michigan alien registration law, backed by
patriots, w a s enjoined or barred, B'nai B'rith ( F e b .
issue), editorially called this "an act in behalf of civil
liberty" and c o m m e n d e d radical P a t r i c k H . O'Brien*
f o r his opposition to this law before his election and,
afterwards, his going before the F e d e r a l Court at Detroit
with attorney T h e o . Levin seeking a p e r m a n e n t injunc-
tion against it.
Filene "Carried Prophets' Mantle"
Editorially, of the radical Jewish capitalist, E d w a r d A.
Filene*f, w h o gave a million dollars to Socialist co-1
operatives t o undermine private business, and w a s hon-
ored by the Kremlin itself in Moscow, B'nai B'rith says
(Nov. 1937):
" T h e r e are w a y s of being Jewish. O n e *Jew serves,
lite faith in tfie s y n a g o g u e , ' a n o t h e r gives his Jewish
devotion to Palestine, or he conceives a J u d a i s m t h a t
has to do with social service.
. " E d w a r d A. Filene carried our prophets' mantle in the
world. H e w a s t h e type of ideal Jew conceived by those
who believe in the prophetic mission of J e w s as bearers
of a teaching of justice, righteousness and peace to m a n -
kind. . . . H e founded the $2,000,000 T w e n t i e t h Century
F u n d f . . . to chart the w a y to social j u j t i c e . " ( T o

Filene financed the unconstitutional N R A , accprding
to press reports, until Congress appropriated funds. T h e
board of his T w e n t i e t h Century F u n d is composed of
o u t s t a n d i n g radicals, seven of the eleven having records
in " T h e Red N e t w o r k " (see page 9, " T h e Roosevelt Red
R e c o r d and Its B a c k g r o u n d " ) .
F a t h e r Coughlin, in Social Justice (7/18/38), says the
Protocols of Zion, for which J e w r y denies responsibility
are "preeminently a Communistic p r o g r a m to destroy
Christian civilization. T h e best rebuttal which the m o d -
ern leaders of Zion can offer to t h e authenticity of the
Protocols is to institute a vigorous campaign against
C o m m u n i s m . J e w s as a whole oppose Nazism and
Fascism.
