Organisation of semester project new students
DMS1 (without AAU M&P B.Sc.)

For new (non AAU M&P B.Sc.) students a tailored DMS1 semester project and
INTRO Course are provided in order to give you the best start on your new study.
The INTRO Course (5 ECTS) consists of 10 lectures, which will be given in the next
two weeks before other courses start. This includes:
Study work at AAU (1 lecture) Lecturer: Brian Bak (Primo October)
Theory of Elasticity and tensor notation (4 lectures) Lecturer: Sergey Sorokin
Theory of the Finite Element Method (4 lectures) Lecturer: Esben Lindgaard
Basic Programming with Matlab (1 lecture) Lecturer: Erik Lund
The taught material in the INTRO Course is a prerequisite to follow the courses
given on this and upcoming semesters at DMS.
To fulfill the requirement of a total of 30 ECTS for the semester, the project
content is tailored and reduced (10 ECTS) for the new AAU student groups look for
* on next slide.
Thus, for the DMS1 semester new students (without an AAU M&P B.Sc.) will be in
separate groups.

DMS1 Project work
A status seminar is scheduled during the semester with the purpose of
networking, peer-to-peer evaluation, and feedback.
It is strongly suggested to make a project plan for the work. The work load
for the courses may vary from week to week. Thus, try to make a project
plan together with a time schedule for the different weeks in the semester.
It is very important that all group members are involved in all topics
treated in the project. Thus, it is suggested that a rotation principle is
applied!
For example, when dividing into sub groups, then each week (or perhaps
every second week in the beginning) one person is exchanged between the
groups.
Note that study work at AAU requires that all students are present from
8.00-16.30 all work days during the week. When not attending courses you
are expected to work on your semester project in the group rooms.
