A. Write a text of 150 words describing a celebration in your country regarding the
following aspects:

What it is celebrated

What people wear

What people do

Why it is a special celebration

The Festival Folclrico, National Reign of Bambuco and International Folklore

Show, is one of the most important festivals in southern Colombia, especially in
the department of Huila, whose capital, Neiva, is the venue of the festival.

It is celebrated in the middle of the month of June until the first week of July of
each year and attracts a considerable number of Colombian and foreign
tourists. Music, dancing, comparsas, roast, mistela, aguardiente, are enriching
elements of the festivities that have acquired their own identity in the territory
that today corresponds to the department of Huila

The National Bambuco Festival began in honor of San Juan Bautista. A saint of
ancient Christian Europe, whom the Spaniards brought to America.

In 1790 the governor of this province, Don Lucas de Herazo ordered the
celebration of a special feast as an act of obedience to the King of Spain. It
was a celebration that lasted for 10 days in the month of June ordering a series
of activities in which the town intervened. One of these activities was a
bullfight. There was also participation of Mojigangas who come to correspond
today to the groups that should have the participation of the people. These
festivities were born in order to celebrate "La Jura".

Thus it was called to the activity of obedience and respect to the King of Spain.
Participated all the towns of the department governed by the parish of each
one. The tradition was extended to the point that San Juan was a rural party
and San Pedro an urban party; but both were united by several days of
continuous rejoicing.

The festivities lasted for eight days, distributed as follows: on June 24 San
Juan, 25 San Eloy, 26 San Eloicito, 27 San Churumbelo, 29 San Pedro, 30
San Pablo and the first of July, San Pablito, San Churumbelo and San
Churumbelito. The San Juan, June 24, the peasants dawned in the waters of
flowery stalks, colorful collars of peonies spaced with jet-laces, necklines with
trimmings and many lace and perendengues.

That is why today is celebrated these holidays to maintain a beautiful tradition

that meets the family is danced, drinks are taken and they eat special foods:
asado huilense, chicha, guarapo, sweet and aguardiente.Otra wealth of the city
is the popular imagination to explain some natural or everyday phenomena.
This is summarized in the large number of stories and legends that have a
place within the oral tradition that covers the Upper Magdalena. La Llorona, La
Madremonte, El Mohn, La Muelona, La Patasola, El Duende and El
Sombrern are some fantastic stories that inhabit the collective imagination of
the neivanos.

During the San Pedro, the Huilenses and their visitors listen to folkloric musical
groups that appeared in the different official acts and competitions of rajaleas
that are part of the program that softens the events.
