READING/ OBJECTIVES (TOPIC; WHAT I WANT THEM TO LEARN): I want them to improve their reading composition skills.
WRITING I dont want them to just be able to read it, but to understand what theyre reading.
WHAT IM GOING TO DO: I will choose or create a reading thats on their level (not their grade, theyre reading
level) I will probably need to make two. One for the more advanced, and one for the beginners or less
advanced. Before we read, I will go over vocabulary they dont know and/or vocabulary thats important to the
reading. I will write and explain it on the board, so that when they encounter it in the reading I can point to
what we already talked about.
ACTIVITIES AND COMPREHENSION CHECK: We will read the story together slowly. We (they) will stop
frequently ensuring that they understand. If they do not, I will explain and we will read it again. They will
highlight important words, colors, numbers, digraphs as they read. (Ex: If the word yellow is in the reading,
they should take a crayon and color the word yellow. If it has the number four in the reading, they should write
a 4 above the word.) When we finish, we will review what they read- the important points. There will be a
space left for them to draw something related to what they read to see if they understood.
RELIGION OBJECTIVES (TOPIC; WHAT I WANT THEM TO LEARN): I want them to learn about the story of Jesus feeding
the 5,000. I want them to able to at least answer questions correctly about the story. For the more advanced,
Id like for them to be able to tell me the story in English. I also want them all to be able to say the Bible verse
in English and Spanish (Philippians 4:13).
WHAT IM GOING TO DO: Im going to tell them the story. If theyre beginners, with pictures and less detail. If
theyre advanced, also with pictures and more detail. Im going to show them a video of the Holy Tales or
Veggie Tales talking about the story. We will also sing one or two songs.
ACTIVITIES AND COMPREHENSION CHECK: I will check to see if they understood me by asking them questions.
Im going to try to find rewards for the kids that can answer. For the more advanced, we will talk about the
meaning or moral of the story- how it relates to our lives. I want them to make a book of Bible verses they
learn, so they can see how many they learned at the end of the year. Also I will plan to do an art project (or
color from a Bible coloring book) with them that is related to the story. (I teach this class twice a week)

P.E. OBJECTIVES (TOPIC; WHAT I WANT THEM TO LEARN):
My goal is for them to get the required physical activity (controlled activity-not them running around doing
whatever they want) and also to strengthen vocabulary theyve been learning in class. Examples: colors,
shapes, animals.
WHAT WERE GOING TO DO: (Out in the patio)
Colors: Theyre going to compete. First I call a number and they have to run and touch that color. (Not things
that can be damaged by the kids) The last one to touch is out. The winner gets to say the colors for the next
completion. Hide blocks and tell them to bring you a specific color- and if you want, a specific amount. (EX:
Bring me 4 blue blocks) The last one is out. Make sure you have enough blocks depending on the size of the
class. You could do it only two at a time if you dont have a lot of blocks
Shapes: Take four shapes and tape them to the columns (or somewhere else). Tell them a shape and they must
run and show you where it is. Be careful with the noise. Also, you could have two at a time race. You say for
example triangle, and they have to run and take the rocks, bring them back and make that shape with the
rocks on the floor. The first one done, or with the best looking shape wins.
Animals: Divide them into two groups and have the race. You say an animal and they have to pretend to be an
animal. They go to the other side and then come back to tag the next person in line. Then you say a new
animal. You can also do this with basic actions : (run, jump, skip, crawl, kick, sing, dance, etc.)
