COURSE SYNOPSIS :

This course introduces the principles and theory of separation techniques includes
distillation, filtration, evaporation, chromatography, solvent extraction, centrifugation,
fractional distillation, crystallization and solid phase extraction.
(Kursus ini memperkenalkan prinsip dan teori teknik pemisahan termasuk penyulingan,
penapisan, penyejatan, kromatografi, pengekstrakan pelarut, emparan, penyulingan
berperingkat, penghabluran dan pengekstrakan fasa pepejal)

RATIONALE OF THE COURSE:

This course provides principals and theories of knowledge of separation techniques such as
distillation, filtration, evaporation, chromatograph, solvent extraction, centrifugation,
fractional distillation, crystallization and solid phase extraction.
Kursus ini menyediakan pengetahuan prinsip dan teori teknik pemisahan seperti
penyulingan, penapisan, penyejatan, kromatografi, pengekstrakan pelarut, emparan,
penyulingan berperingkat, penghabluran dan pengekstrakan fasa pepejal.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Recognized the common techniques for separation of materials. (C4, A3).


2. Carry out procedures for common separation experiments. (C3, P3).
3. Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis of separation for various samples. (C3, P4)
4. Work in teams to carry out laboratory procedures. (P4, TS)

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS:

Skills in this course are developed through individual, group assignments and practical skills.
Skills are assessed through coursework including report, presentation and group
participation.
