ESTIMATRION OF PERSONS WITH


DISABILITIES
- Dr. E. Healander of working for
WHO estimates 10 % of population
is disabled
- In 1990 on certain assumptions it is
estimated that ore valance of
moderate, severs, disability needs
rehabilitation is 5.21%
- No standard definition is available.
The estimates vary

- No provision exist for lo vision
people, epileptics, hyper active etc.,
- The disable are grouped into 5 main
categories

- (e) Neurologically handicapped as
C.P. which is included in loco motor
category
- NSSO made attempts to collect data
on DAPS since 1861
- Data on totally blind dumb crippled
was collected

SUGGESSIONS FOR FUTURE


INCLUSION
- Enumerators / supervisors to be
sensitized
- Parents/disable groups must well in
advance to be sensitized by NGOs /
Assns./ Activists
- Disabled. / Parents must come
forward voluntarily for inclusion.
- Parivaar parents must take lead in
future
- Mass media to be sensitized.

INCLUSION
- Govt / Community / NGOs / Dpos
must do everything, they can do to
include every P.W.D in Rehb.
