Smt. Krishna Raj, after assuming the charge of the Office of Minister of State, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare reviewed the Schemes being implemented by Department
of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries. A presentation was made regarding the schemes for development of increasing cattle productivity through Rashtriya Gokul
Mission, Dairy Development for more income to Dairy farmers, Fisheries and small Livestock like Goat/Sheep and also the poultry sector. Action Plan for doubling
farmers income by 2022 through the livestock sector were discussed in detail. Minister emphasized the importance of monitoring and evaluation of the schemes and
mentioned that schemes officers should be made aware about their responsibilities for efficient and optimum utilization of allocated resources. He said enhancing
production and productivity of Countrys Livestock wealth by actively promoting traditional methods is also important. Emphasis should also be made on ensuring that
the benefit of Government Schemes flows to the poorest.

Ministry of Steel to take lead role in transforming & turning around Steel PSUs and bringing accountability and 2017

Union Minister of Steel Shri Birender Singh, tasked the Ministry officials to play active role in transforming and turning around Steel PSUs in his weekly review meeting
with senior officials of Ministry of Steel in New Delhi. Senior Ministry officials will be responsible for monitoring the performance of individual steel plants by on-ground
visits and reviews. They will check the progress of each plant in terms of achievements of the targets set out for them. Minister remarked that no laxity will be
tolerated and there has to be accountability and a result-oriented approach built into the work culture of the Ministry. Plant of Excellence will be awarded for the
best performing Plant among Steel PSUs, so that other Plants can get inspired to excel. Target of 300 million tonnes set in the National Steel Policy-2017 will be broken
down year-wise and exponential annual increase will have to be ensured for realistic achievement, the Minister added. He appreciated the accomplishments in the
past and stated that steel sector has much more potential which needs to be harnessed for the vision of Make in Steel for Make in India.
