1 Introduction
This manual is intended for persons responsible for using the Video Recording Manager eXport
Wizard.
Notice!
You can only export video data from a VRM Server as of version 2.21.
Notice!
You need the application NetBackup by Symantec and a tape device to perform tape exports.
For further information on installing and configuring the tape export software see the docu-
mentation from Symantec.
Install VRM eXport Wizard on the computer where NetBackup is installed.
For tape export, Microsoft iSCSI Initiator must be installed and running on the computer
where you execute VRM eXport Wizard. We recommend starting the iSCSI Initiator service.
For Windows 7 and Windows 2008, the iSCSI Initiator usually is preinstalled. For Windows XP
and Windows 2003, you may have to install it manually.
Notice!
During export the recording is continued. If the time period of the export exceeds the config-
ured retention time, blocks can be overwritten during the export process. These blocks are
no longer available in the export.
Notice!
If you have an unexpectedly low bit rate when performing the export, update the network
card driver. and Check your network settings (jumbo frames disabled).
2 System overview
You use Video Recording ManagereXport Wizard to export video data recorded with Video
Recording Manager to other storage media.
3 Installation
Download the zip file for Video Recording Manager in the Online Product Catalog on http://

9 User interface
Select Bosch VRM and Optimize Data Traffic page
IP address/URL Type in or select the appropriate IP address of the VRM system that you
want to export.
User name Type in the user name for authenticating on the VRM system that you want to
export.
Password Type in the password for authenticating on the VRM system that you want to
export.
Check Now Click for checking the connection to the VRM system that you want to export.
Maximum sources in parallel Does not affect tape export.
Enter the maximum number of source Targets the data is copied from in parallel. This can be
useful if the data can be written faster on the destination Target as it can be read from a
source Target.
Example: Data can be written with 430 Mbps to the destination Target. There are 10 source
Targets and the bit rate per source is limited to 100 Mbps to ensure that cameras can record
on the source Targets while the export is running. In this case set the parameter to at least 5
(5* 100 Mbps > 430 Mbps) to use the complete bandwidth of the destination Target.
You can use this parameter in the same way if the source Target is slower than the destination
Target. In this case the Maximum bit rate per source parameter should be also used to avoid
an overload of the source drive.
The combination of these two parameters can be used to limit the data rate written on the
destination Target. The maximum data rate written on the destination Target is Maximum
sources in parallel multiplied with Maximum bit rate per source.
Maximum bit rate per source Does not affect tape export.
Enter the maximum bit rate (in megabit per second) that the software can read from the
source. Enter 0 to configure unlimited when no limitation is necessary. That means that VRM
eXport Wizard uses all the available bandwidth of the export source. This is for example useful
when during the time of the export no recording is performed.
Select Cameras and Time Period page
Select All Click to select all cameras.
Deselect All Click to deselect all selected cameras.
Export name Type in a name or leave the default entry.
Time period Enter the time period to be exported.
Comment Type in a comment for the export.

CIFS export Enter UNC path (syntax: \\ip-address\sharename), user name and password for
accessing a CIFS Share used for export.
iSCSI export Enter IP address and number of the appropriate LUN of the iSCSI device used
for export. Target number is always 0 due to technical reasons.
Export to file system Type in a drive letter and path of your local file system used for
export.
Tape export Click to perform a tape export.
Monitor the Export page
Status Click to display the status information for the running export.
Details Click to display further information on the running export.
