After the briefing, the caretakers directed us to the dining hall. We had a hearty breakfast. We
were served nasi lemak, roti canai, and fried noodles. The food was scrumptious. We were also served
with a special teh tarik. It was prepared by one of the caretakers. It was really flavourful. After breakfast,
all of us returned to the hall. All of us were hyped up for the next activity. The activity was gotong-royong.
All of the students were divided into a few groups. The children from the orphanage home were also
divided and assigned into the groups. Everyone joined forces to carry out the duties given. This was
because, our teacher said many hands make light work. It is true indeed. We cleaned the drains. They
were clogged. The stagnant water emitted terrible stench. We also helped to paint the walls. The brick-
built walls were dull and faded. The worn-out paint began to peel off. So, we used good quality paint in
various vibrant colours to paint the walls. We wanted to make the home look spectacular and lively. That
way, the children there will feel cheerful and peaceful. After three long and tiring hours, the home finally
looked spick and span. All of us were on top of the world. We managed to change the look of the dull
home to become this remarkable. We were as proud as a peacock. It was a job well done.
