Packaging Material Specification

Introduction
This document contains information on packaging material, which is the main constituent in Tetra Pak
packages. For information on other package constituents such LS strip, ReCap etc.; see
separate documentation about additional material.

The information contained is related to functional properties and dimensions which are important for
the forming and filling of packages, and for the requirements on the packages.

The packaging material is of multi-layer structure, delivered in reel format. Material components and
grammage of layers are continuously developed for optimal performance at minimum resource utilisation,
following technical developments with our suppliers and in our factories. The customer shall be informed
about any relevant changes.

This information is disclosed in a faith of trust between Tetra Pak and the customer and must not be
disclosed to a third party without consensus of the two parties.

This specification is valid when completed customer name, Tetra Pak Market Company and Factory, and
with the person respectively.
The supplying converting factory stores quality documents for 5 years to ensure possibility to trace production
data for the material.

Reel wrapping Each reel is covered with a shrink film (PE), for protection against dust and water.
On request, the reels can be delivered without the protection film.

Pallet material The pallets are made of untreated wood, free from chemicals.
A protection sheet should be used between the pallet and the materials.

Pallet wrapping Each pallet is protected with hood of shrink or stretch film.

Pallet stacking Pallets can be stacked on top of each other, maximum 4 pallets with a maximum total

height of 5.3m. A protection sheet is strongly advised to be used between the pallets.

Storage & Handling


Storage time is limited to twelve (12) months after production date. Functional properties are guaranteed,
when packaging material is stored under conditions recommended by Tetra Pak.
The recommendation is storage temperature between 10 C and + 40C and relative humidity between
40 % and 65 %.

The specified conditions represent only food contact compliance and not technical suitability.
