UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP TERMS, CONDITIONS,
AND REGULATIONS GUIDELINES

Please note that any scholarship offer is subject to official confirmation of your test scores, GPA and high
school graduation, as well as all transfer course work.
The University of New Orleans Merit Awards vary in the form of tuition, nonresident fee credit, to housing,
meals and book awards. These awards are available for the Fall and/or Spring semesters only. If you accept
the award, your award will be posted to your account. However, to receive the benefit of your award, you must
enroll and maintain full-time status as of the 14th class day of the semester. (Full-time is 12 or more hours).
Our merit scholarships that cover tuition cannot be awarded in conjunction with other Louisiana state tuition-
based scholarships, exemptions, or waivers. For example, if you are awarded Tuition Opportunity Program for
Students, your award may be not used for tuition, but can be used for other expenses.
The scholarships may be renewed for up to 4 years (2 years for transfer or graduate students) or 120 cumulative
credit hours, whichever comes first. (Each semester the Scholarship will automatically renew if the student
meets all rule and regulations of the Scholarship.) The rules and regulations are as follows:
• The student must enroll and maintain full time hours every semester as of the 14th class day of the semester.
• At the end of the FALL semester, the student must have a minimum UNO cumulative GPA of 2.0.
• At the end of the first academic year (Spring Semester), the student must have a minimum UNO cumulative
GPA of 2.75, and 3.0 thereafter.
• The student must earn a minimum of 24 hours at the end of each academic year (Spring semester). (If the
student was admitted and awarded in the Spring semester, the fulltime hours and UNO cumulative GPA of 2.75
will apply.)
• If your first semester of enrollment is the Spring semester, you must earn 12 hours at the end of the Spring
semester and a 2.75 cumulative GPA. (Please see the specific cumulative GPA requirements for the Homer Hitt
Award).
The academic year consists of Fall and Spring, not the Summer sessions.
All coursework accepted by the university will count toward your cumulative hours. All coursework taken and
accepted as credit and not paid by the scholarship is also included in the calculation of the 120 cumulative credit
hours earned. Audit courses and Advanced Placement (AP) do not count toward the requirement to earn 24
credit hours per academic year. The AP credits are not counted toward your cumulative hours if under the 30
hour credit maximum.
In order to expedite the processing of scholarship offers you have to submit your decision no later than 30 days
from receipt of this award letter. If you need more time to make your decision, please send a written request
