IBM SVC
Overview
This scan gathers configuration and performance data from v7000, SVC and v9000 systems.

Turning on Performance Stat Collection


1. On the SVC system, check if stat collection is turned by executing the following command: svcinfo
lssyste m
2. If the following lines are present, stat collection is on:

statistics_status on statistics_frequency {number}

3. If the aforementioned lines are not present, then stat collection can be enabled with the following
command:

svctask startstats -interval {number}

Mitrend Scanner - Windows Graphical Interface


By default, this scan will run over a 24 hour period, aggregating system performance metrics onto the target
configuration node and downloading them to the client machine aproximately every 90 minutes.

Requirements
The system running Mitrend Scanner requires:

Windows Vista / Windows Server 2008 or later.


Microsoft .NET 4.5 Download Installer Here.

Targeted System Requirements:

Any IBM StorWize or SVC platforms, including the IBM V7000

Instructions
1. Download the latest version of the Mitrend Scanner application.
2. Rename it from MitrendScanner.renameToExe to MitrendScanner.exe and open the executable.
3. Select the SVC scan type.
4. Enter the hostname or IP of the SVC configuration node
5. Enter credentials associated with the target sysem.
6. Click ADD to add the server to the scan target list.
7. Ensure your added server is checked in the target list, and click BEGIN SCAN.
Manual Script Instructions
UNIX Instructions
1. Download the ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.sh script by clicking on the Download Unix Script
button.
2. Copy the script to the /tmp directory on a Unix system.
3. Navigate to the directory containing the ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.sh file: cd /tmp
4. Make the script executable: chmod + x /tmp/ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.sh
5. Execute the script: /tmp/ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.sh -s SERVER [-u USER]
The -u (user) parameter is optional. If not provided the default user is "admin"

6. When the script completes, navigate to the system temp directory: cd /tmp and retrieve the
.tar.gz file. The last output from the script will give the exact filename.
7. Submit the archive file to Mitrend.

Windows Instructions
1. Download the ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.re name tobat script by clicking on the Download
Windows Script button.
2. Copy the script to a directory on a Windows system.
3. Rename the script to ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.bat
4. Open a command prompt .
5. Navigate to the directory containing the ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.bat script.
6. Run the script by typing: ibmv70 0 0 _pe rfcolle ct.bat -s SERVER [-u USER][-sshv1]
The -u (user) parameter is optional. If not provided the default user is "admin"
The -sshv1 parameter is optional; it may be needed for older IBM systems that use SSH-1.
This parameter passes the '-unsafe' flag to pscp, which enable the collection of files with
nondeterministic names. Click here fror more details.

7. When the script completes, it will print the results output directory. By default this should be within:
%TEMP%\mitre nd-v70 0 0 #####
8. Compress/zip the entire mitre nd-v70 0 0 ##### directory.
9. Submit the archive file to Mitrend.

Expected Warnings
CMMVC6098E The copy failed as the specified node is the configuration node.

This warning may occour during your scan and does not warrant concern.
