Online Portfolio Module 2: Exploring American Culture

Module Overview
When students study abroad in a foreign country, they will not only be challenged by their
courses, but they will also be challenged by the new culture in the country where they live.
Even after many years living in a new culture, there are still some behaviors/habits that remain
a mystery for international students. As international students in the USA, it is certain that you
still have many questions about life in this country. First, you need to think about some
interesting or confusing behavior you have witnessed and possible explanations for this
behavior. Then the next step will give you the opportunity to interview your American peers
about some cultural habits here that are still a mystery to you. Finally, you will analyze the
results and draw conclusions about what you have learned.

Content Focus
To successfully complete this assignment, you will submit three parts: 1) A pre-interview writing
assignment 2) A recording of an interview with an American and 3) a written summary of your
interview and the responses you collected along with a written response analyzing the results
and your opinion about the results.

Grading/Submitting
Parts 1 and 2 above (pre-interview and interview recording) are minor assignments and do not
