Editor
The Right Job Newsletter

Dear Ms. Dietrich:

I am very honoured to be chosen as one of your respondents in your noble effort to guide
student choose the right job.

As one of the Account Officers of Land Bank assigned to handle loan accounts of cooperatives,
my typical day is spent doing the following:

Marketing of new loan clients

Packaging of loan proposals for viable projects
Preparing loan documents for approved proposals and facilitating loan releases
Servicing the day to day transaction of loan clients
Monitoring the business operation of loan clients and the trend of the industry they
belong
Preparing bank required reports, as needed

A good Account Officer for me is one who has developed a passion for learning new things,
since dealing with different kinds of businesses is expected. Flexibility is also required, to adapt
to various personalities with varied cultural backgrounds. Another special trait needed for
Account Officers dealing with cooperatives is strong commitment for service to act as catalyst of
change particularly in the countryside.

Seeing the improvement in the quality of life of small farmers who are members of the
cooperatives is the most rewarding part and what I really love about my job. The deep sense
of fulfilment usually far surfaces the difficulties and challenges I encountered along the way.
However, not all cooperatives that were given financial assistance have success stories.
Witnessing the failure in any of my assisted cooperative is the sad part. However, this I
consider as another challenge that will surely bring in a more profound sense of achievement.

I hope this simple narrative will make a meaningful contribution to your worthy cause.

With much admiration,

Evelyn A. Abad
