Introduction to Migration LogiK

Migration LogiK is a GUI application that acts as a front end for the Oracle FNDLOAD
utility. Migration LogiK is the solution for technical and functional professionals that allows
quickly download or upload/migrate custom AOL objects.
Customers can use Migration LogiK to quickly save the definitions of the custom and
seeded AOL objects - while performing configuration management or development migration
activities.
Migration LogiK uses an innovative approach to effectively access and to build a list of
AOL objects. Migration LogiK is then used again during the implementation step of the
customization activity or for the initial setup integration.
The list of the objects organized into the project can be easily transferred from one EBS
instance to another due to its portable content and structure.
Migration LogiK works with Oracle EBS in fact, its server listener resides in the same
environment and utilizes the power of FNDLOAD (Generic Loader) utility to speed up and
ease the migration process.

1. Overview

MigrationLogiK is a GUI application that serves as a front end for the Oracle Generic Loader
(FNDLOAD) utility.

This tool provides an advanced approach to the Oracle Foundation objects migration process. The
tool also allows easy collection, analysis and object storage.

A rich graphical interface features intuitive browsing through the Oracle EBS foundation objects. The
application contains an internal knowledge base that provides a syntax and parameters list for
potential migrated objects. Consequently, users can stay completely focused on development, setup
and customization efforts.

All objects are organized into projects using the OS directory based repository - this feature makes
the application light and portable.

Setup repository structure on the client machine.

Prior to using Migration LogiK - create a projects repository, using Windows Explorer.
This repository is a custom directory and users are free to create the repository in any
convenient location. Moreover, there are no naming restrictions on the directory. For the
software and hardware requirements please refer to the System Requirements document.

4. DATABASE Menu

Connect to Database instance:

When being loaded initially, Migration LogiK recognizes Oracle Homes installed on the client
machine and retrieves TNSNAMES.ora entries to populate its internal repository (with the available
Oracle instances connection information). Any changes to the TNSNAMES.ora will require users to
open the projects affected by the change, refresh the connection information, and save any updated
projects.
To connect to the source database:

Choose Database > Oracle Homes.

Then select Oracle Home.

Choose Database > Oracle Homes > Source Instance.

Select database instance. If the TNSNAMES.ora file contains more than 20 entries, the application builds an
alphabetically organized additional menu layer.

7. ACTIONS menu.
* Not available in (G) releases.

Currently, there are two options available: Download or Upload.

Initially, both options are disabled. However, after the connection to the Source database is
established, the DOWNLOAD feature is activated.

After the connection to the Target database is established, the UPLOAD action is
activated.

When the Download or Upload option is chosen, the client establishes a connection to the
server listener. If the server listener is not up and running, the following message is
displayed at the bottom of the application window: Server listener is not running! Contact
System Administrator.
Users can continue the object selection without the server listener running, but the Download
or Upload actions cannot be performed. Both of these options are also disabled if the user is
running an unlicensed version of the application. To correct the issue, contact iTerra
