4. PREPARATION OF THE TESTS

4.1 DESCRIPTION OF THE SPECIMENS STRUCTURE
Test specimens are made of Aluminium Composite Panel, 4 mm thick which consists of following layer:
- aluminium sheet 0,5 mm thick, on both side coated P.V.D.F. coating
(PCS = (7,829 0,110) MJ.kg-1), thickness 25 m;
- fire resistant core based polyethylene with mineral fillers: (Al(OH)3 90 %, PE 5 % and
5 % additives CaO, SiO4, Al2O3 (PCS = (0,632 0,132)MJ.kg-1), with density 1615 kg.m-3,
thickness 3 mm;
- aluminium sheet 0,5 mm thick chromate finished;
Each specimen consists of five parts with edges bent at a right angle towards to substrate. Width of the
folded edge is 24 mm. Edges are reinforced with aluminium profiles attached to panels with aluminium
blind rivets ( 3 x 8) mm.
Dimension of specimens parts: (500 x 1500) mm (width x height);
(230 x 500) mm (width x height);
(230 x 1000) mm (width x height);
(800 x 500) mm (width x height);
(800 x 1000) mm (width x height).
Specimens are mounted on standard non-combustible substrate (acc. to STN EN 13238: 2010 made of
plasterboards of reaction to fire A2-s1, d0, thickness (12 1) mm, bulk density 800 kg/m3) via spacers
(55 x 55 x 40) mm and drywall screws ( 3,5 x 35) mm. Gaps created by joining of specimens parts are
sealed by fire barrier sealant 3M Fire Barrier Sealant CP 25WB+ (latex-based, intumescent sealant)
(manufacturer: 3M Industrial Adhesives and Tape Division, USA).
Back boards were placed in compliance with STN EN 13823: 2003.
Three test specimens were used for the test results.
All the information about technical specifications of used materials, information about their type
designation and their producers were delivered by sponsor and was not subject of the specimens
inspection. Parameters which were checked are quoted in paragraph 4.2 INSPECTION OF SPECIMENS.

4.2 INSPECTION OF SPECIMENS

Specimens inspection was carried out before commencement of tests, which consisted of visual
observation of specimens and verification of specimens size.

4.3 CLIMATIC CONDITIONING OF SPECIMENS

Test specimens were stored in the hall of testing laboratory and were conditioned according to EN 13238:
2010 under the following climatic conditions:
Ambient air temperature [C]
mean 19,6
standard deviation 1,0
Relative air humidity [%]
mean 42,6
standard deviation 3,1
The humidity equilibrium state of test specimens was determined by repetitive balancing of specimens.
The humidity equilibrium state of test specimen was achieved.
