Mining Is a promising industry in anyones country but its also one of the riskiest
investment in a country who value the richness of its natural resources just like our country.

Mining in the Philippines has been a controversial issue, as the former DENR secretary
Gina Lopez advocates the total ban of mining for responsible and sustainable mining in the
country. Some of her arguments are the irreversible negative effect of mining in our environment,
specifically in our Air, Water, land, ecosystem, and local communities. According to her heavy
metals like sulfur dioxide is polluted into the air by unsafe smelter operations with insufficient
safeguards and Gold mining industry is considered as one of the most destructive industry in the
world because of the toxins release into the air. Mining activities might as well lead to erosion
which is very dangerous for the land and destroys animal habitats and ecosystem.

These is just a 3% of the overall reasons why Gina Lopez strongly advocates the banning
of mining industry in the Philippines but these reasons are confronted by the 800billion dollar that
mining can produce for our country 800 billion dollar that our government cant let go.

So, my stand bears on the question does it worth the risk?. And my answer is no.
