Overview
1Removing and Replacing Peripherals

This procedure contains instructions to remove and replace the BW printer, color printer,
VCR and DVR for the ACUSON X300, ACUSON X300 Premium edition, and SONOVISTA
X300 systems. The instructions included in this section share the warning and caution as
follows:

WARNING The system contains hazardous voltages that can range from
90 VAC to 264 VAC and cause serious injury or death.
Only authorized service personnel are permitted to
remove protective covers and access the energized
components of this system.

CAUTION Movement of the system during servicing can cause serious


injury.
Before any servicing, make sure that the system
wheels are securely locked in place, and that there is
more than one meter of working space around the sys-
tem.

Removing the BW Printer (P93W) 2.1

1. Power off the system and set the MAINS switch to off; leave the power cord connected
to the wall outlet.
2. Remove the air filter, see (US11-104.841.01 / Removing the Left Cover).
3. Remove the thumb screw with the slotted screwdriver or coin.

4. Pull the BW printer out.

5. Disconnect the cables from the storage bay.

6. Remove the BW printer from the system.
7. Disconnect the cables from the rear of the BW printer.

8. Remove the four PWH screws located on the bottom of the BW printer and remove the
bracket.

Removing the BW printer (P93DW/UP-D897) 2.2

The P93DW and UP-D897 are digital BW printers for 2.0 system and over. The images
below are of P93DW, but the procedure is the same for UP-D897.

1. Power off the system and set the MAINS switch to OFF. Leave the power cord con-
nected to the wall outlet.
2. Remove the air filter. See (US11-104.841.01 / Removing the Left Cover)
3. Remove the thumb screw using a slotted screwdriver or edge of a coin.

4. Pull the BW printer out of its bay.

5. Disconnect the cables from the storage bay.

8. Remove the four PWH screws located on the bottom of the BW printer and remove the

Replacing the BW Printer (P93W/P93DW/UP-D897) 2.3

Perform the instructions used for removing the printer in reverse sequence.

CAUTION Use fasteners of the correct length.


Failure to do so can cause damage to the system.

NOTE In case of P93D/P93DW BW printers, ensure that the DIP SW


1 control (on the back of the printer) is set to ON and that the
DIP SW 2 through 6 controls are set to OFF.

How to install the printer driver. (Using Plug and Play function) 0

1. Power on the system and the BW printer.


2. Before the booting is completed, the Found New Hardware Wizard will be displayed.
3. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) button, and then click the
Next button. The next screen will be displayed.
4. Insert the provided Printer driver CD into the DVD drive.
5. Select Search for the best driver in these locations and then check the Include this
location in the search box.
6. Click the Browse button, select the Driver folder on the CD-ROM, and then click the
Next button. The Hardware Installation pop-up window will be displayed.
7. Click the Continue Anyway button. The completing screen will be displayed.
8. Click the Finish button.

How to install the printer driver. (Using the Install function) 0

1. Press Presets key on the keyboard to display the Preset main screen.
2. Select Printer on the left side of the screen to display the Printer screen. Click Install.
A pop-up window will be displayed.

3. Plug in the USB printer, then click OK. The Add Printer Wizard will be displayed.

4. Click Next to advance to continue and advance to the next screen.

5. Select the option Local printer attached to this computer, and check the Automat-
ically detect and install my Plug and Play printer box. Click Next.

6. Windows will be searching for the new Plug and Play printers to install. When it has
detected the new printer, the Found New Hardware Wizard will be displayed.

How to set the configuration in the system 0

1. Press Presets key on the keyboard to display the Preset main screen.
2. Select Customize Keys on the left side of the screen to display the Customize Keys
screen.

3. Select B/W Print for Print/Store 1 Key or Print/Store 2 Key.
4. Select DIMAQ Utility on the left side of the screen to display the DIMAQ Utility screen.

5. Select the USB BW Printer radio button in the Printer box for Thumbnails.

6. Select Printer on the left side of the screen to display the Printer screen.

7. Select the USB BW Printer name from the drop down list. Press Save to store the new
settings and exit the system presets.

Verification (P93W/P93DW/UP-D897) 2.5

1. Connect the system power cable to a grounded outlet.


2. Connect a transducer to the system.
3. Set the MAINS switch to On.
4. Power on the system, and wait for it to boot up completely and without error message.
5. Confirm that an image format is displayed on the monitor.
6. Press Freeze.
7. Verify that the image format has been captured.
8. Press Print/Store 1 on the control panel.

9. Verify that the printer is operating and printing correct image format.

1. Power off the system and set the MAINS switch to off; leave the power cord connected

4. Move the color printer toward the left, and remove it from the system.

Removing the Color Printer (CP30DW/UP-D23MD) 3.2

CP30DW and UP-D23MD are digital color printers. The images that are used for the steps
below are of CP93DW, but the procedure is the same for UP-D23MD.

NOTE To use these color printers on 1.0 system, 1.0 system


requires the SW 2.0 upgrade kit for BIOS update. For more
information, refer to (US11-105.843.01 / Minimum Hardware
Requirements).

1. Power off the system and set the MAINS switch to off. Leave the power cord con-
nected to the wall outlet.
2. Disconnect the cables from the rear side of the color printer.

3. Remove the two thumb screws with a slotted screwdriver or the edge of a coin.

4. Move the color printer backward and remove it from the system.

5. Remove the four PWH screws located on the bottom of the color printer and remove the
bracket.

1. Attach the printer bracket to the bottom of the printer, and fasten the six FH screws.

2. Route the cables through the cable duct, and secure them with cable clamps.

3. Place the printer on the bottom bracket and move the printer to the right.

4. Fasten the two thumb screws, see (Fig. 21 / p. 26).

5. Connect the cables to the color printer.


- Connect the RS232c cable at the rear of the printer.
- Connect the RGB cable at the rear of the printer: Red connector to Input R, Green
Connector to Input G/G+Sync, Blue Connector to Input B, and Orange connector to
Input H+V-SYNC.
- At the rear of the color printer, set the RGB Impedance to 75 (ohms).
- At the rear of the color printer, set the SYNC impedance to HIGH.
- Connect the power cord to cable to the color printer.

Replacing the Color Printer (CP30DW UP-D23MD) 3.4

1. Attach the printer bracket to the bottom of the printer, and fasten the four FH screws.

2. Route the cables through the cable duct, and secure them with cable clamps.

3. Place the printer on the bottom bracket and move the printer forward.

4. Fasten the two thumb screws, see (Fig. 25 / p. 29).
5. Connect the cables to the color printer.

Follow the steps below to configure the Color Printer.

1. Connect the color printer Remote Control Unit at the front of the color printer.
2. Power on the ultrasound system and wait for the system to complete the boot
sequence.
3. Press POWER on the printer front panel.
4. Press the MENU button (Item A) on the Remote Control Unit to display it on the LCD
Character screen of the color printer.

5. Press the STOP buttons (Item B) simultaneously to display the Service menu.
6. Press the DOWN Arrow button (Item C) until you find RS232C. Then press the RIGHT
Arrow button (item D). Confirm the following information on the RS232C screen:
- BAUD Rate (9600)
- COMMAND TYPE (a)
- RESPONSE (on)
- NO DSR (on)
7. Press the SET button (item E) once to exit the RS232C settings.
8. Press the UP arrow button until the KEY SET screen displays.

NOTE This procedure assumes the DVD Recorder displays default


settings. If the setting has been changed, the DVD Recorder
will display the newest settings.

NOTE The following steps can be followed when no monitor is


attached to the DVD Recorder.

CAUTION Do not turn the power off using the MAIN POWER switch
when in OPERATE Mode (LED indicator is green).
The DVD Recorder can be damaged.
Press the OPERATE button until the LED indicator
turns orange, then switch the MAIN POWER switch to
OFF.

1. Power on the system; power on the DVD Recorder.


2. There is two ways to set up the configureation- Setting from the Menu screen on the
system or Setting from the LED display on the DVR.
To Set from the Menu Screen on the system:
- Press Video I/O on the CP.
- Rotate the page key and select SETUP using the softkey to display the Setup screen.
- Use the trackball and set button to display the setup submenus.
To Set from the LED display on the DVR:
- Press the SETUP button on the right side of the DVD recorder.
- Press the right/left/up/down arrow buttons to display the setup sub menus.
- The submenus will appear on the LED display.
- Press the green SET button and the up/down arrows to view the sub menu items.

5. If a menu item does not match, you can set from the Menu Screen on the system or Set
from the LED display on the DVR.
Set from the Menu screen on the system:
- Use the trackball on the CP to select the required screen / sub menu.
- Press the SET button on the CP to set the required value. Verify that the setting value
has been changed.
- Repeat steps for each parameter setting that needs changing.
- To return to the normal screen display, select EXIT from the sub menu.
