"I'm willing to sacrifice everything just to live one perfect day."

Maddie Whitter. Olly Bright. Pauline Whitter.

Love, a four letter word, knows no boundaries and beauty. Love encompasses
distance. Love is complex. Love is unique. Love can radiate between glass windows. Love cannot
be read in books and defined in the stories that shape novels and literature. Love can put people
into exile to a world they are supposed to know. Love can make you lie about a sickness. Love is
not pure white but dark. Love has many types, but which one is yours?

If you are wondering why I put these definitions of love in the first paragraph?
Wellit just shows the many meanings about love that this wonderful movie has radiated to us.
It just puts out that Love has a lot of definitions and also types. It is a great example of the
kinds of love we once wrote on paper but now seen by our own eyes and observed through a
screen that puts different wavelengths upon us.

So what are these kinds of love?

First is CONSUMMATE LOVE, or should I say the Ideal Love based on the
Triangular Theory of Love by Robert Sternberg. In the movie, Maddie Whitter showed all the
three (Intimacy, Passion and Commitment) in the whole story line. She exhibited her love in such
a way that us, the audience, feels like Olly and her will stay a long period of time. They are both
very committed to each other on a sexual level as shown in the scene that they kissed each
other in the 4th of July. Most of all, they showed intense connectedness, and strong emotional
bonds as they understand each other on a deeper level; well she needs him, and he needs her.
He knew when something was wrong and understood that what they were going to do was for
her need.

Second is AGAPE. This kind is very sacrificial. Maddie sacrificed everything just to
be with Olly and to explore the world that she hasnt even seen.
She immolated her home, her security, her relationship with her mom but most importantly her
health. She did not care if she gets sick or whatever. She just wanted to be with the man that
she loved. She did not want anything in return.

Third and last is STORGE. It is the love for the family that was showed by Maddies
Mom, Pauline to her. She kept her in the house for more than 18 years. This is what STORGE can
do for a person. She loves her daughter and would be devastated if she left. Thus, she made
Maddie believe that she has SCID which sent her to exile her whole teenage life. She did not
want to lose her daughter because she had already lost her husband and son due to a car
accident. She wanted to protect her daughter from the cruelties of the world outside their
home.

The movie shows us what love really is; its beauty and rawness. It shows the
unrequited love that occurs between two distinct lovers separated by distance but broke
boundaries just to find themselves. Love encompasses sicknesses and safety. Love is just
speechless. Maddie and Olly are the opposites; whites and blacks (quite literally as all he wears
is black). However, they completed each other in such a way that everything. Everything became
perfect with her and Olly.
