Match on action is known as cutting on action. It

is a commonly known and used editing technique
to show continuity editing in a production. One
shot cuts to another depicting the action shown
in the first shot. This avoids confusion and allows
the audience to see the movement smoothly as it
creates the impression of continuity of the scene.
