RO Resource Parameter Optimization

The sub-frame number that an RA request can be sent is indicated by the random
access configuration index (prachConfigIndex). The configuration of
prachConfigIndex involves two parameters: Preamble Format and DRA (RA sub-
frame number in each radio frame, which indicates the number of RA channels
in each radio frame (10 ms)).

The Preamble Format parameter is related to the cell coverage radius. Based on
the cell coverage radius from 0 to 100 km, the preamble format is set to 0 to 3 for
LTE FDD, and 0 to 4 for LTE TDD.

The number of RA resources (DRA) in each radio frame, namely, the RA channel
density, is related to the cell RACH load, contention-based preamble number
(Nsig1), non-contention-based preamble number (Nsig2), and contention-based RA
Collision Probability (CP). The DRA configuration needs to meet the requirement
of contention-based RA requests, namely, to carry the contention-based RACH
load with the expected CP. In addition, the DRA configuration needs to meet the
requirement of non-contention-based RA requests, namely, to carry the non-
contention-based RACH load.
