CANTARES # 2
2. Encountering Jesus in the Greatest Prophetic Song (Song 1:1)

3. THE GREATEST SONG

4. There will be a great interest in the Song of Solomon in the generation in
which the Lord returns.
5. The Spirit is raising up many, young and old, who proclaim it, sing it, write
about it, and pray it.
6. Arise, prophetic singers of Gods new song. Arise, songwriters to take your
place before the Lord
7. In Revelation 15:2-3, the end-time saints are standing before the sea of glass,
and they are pictured as being victorious in love, as they are victorious over
the Antichrist.
8. Now some of them will face martyrdom. Their bodies will be struck down, but
their love will not fail, they will overcome in love, and they will be victorious
in love.
9. Others, their bodies will be protected; but either way, the end- time church
will be victorious in love.
10. Jesus has a song that the saints sing on the sea of glass like Crystal, it is
called the Lambs Song.
11. Now nobody knows that song as Moses song was recorded in the Bible. Jesus
song is surely the greatest song.

12. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS KINDLING GLOBAL INTEREST IN THIS

SONG
13. PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR SONGWRITERS
14.This is the longest song in the Bible. It is in concentrated form, I mean it is
really
15. concentrated togetherit is very dense. It is intense.

16. THE SONG OF MOSES AND THE SONG OF THE LAMB

17. When they stand before the Lord in victory, over the Antichrist, and over all
the schemes of darkness, they sing two songs: the song of Moses, and the
song of the Lambthe song of Jesus.
18. Now the song of Moses is clearly in the Bible, in Exodus 15, and
Deuteronomy 32, that is the two places where we have the song of Moses

19. FOUR DISTINCTIVES OF THE SONG OF SOLOMON

20. We seek to love God with all our heart and strength because God loves us
with all His heart and strength.

21. REVELATION OF HIS HEART AND HOLY PASSION FOR US IS

LIKE A DIAMOND
22. Our whole heart has a vast and mysterious capacity. It islike a diamond
with many facets.
23. The reason we have deep and diverse emotionsis because God does. We are
made in Hisimage.
24. There are aspects of our heart that are best and most touched by Gods holy,
poetic affection.

25. THE WHY BEHIND THE WHAT

26. The Song of Solomon gives us the why behind the what.
27. The book of Romans tells us what God did, what Jesus did on the cross, and
it certainly tells us why as well.
28. The book of Romans is filled with the revelation of the love of God.
29. When you think of the book of Romans in just a general sense, it tells us the
legal practical side of our salvation. It tells us what God did
30. He was burning with desire for human beings, that is why He created us,
and that is why He accomplished redemption.
31. The Song of Solomon gives us the why behind the what, as do other portions
of scripture as well.
32. We have very deep and diverse emotions, why? Because God does.
33. We have deep emotions, because God has deep emotions, we are made in
His image

34. EMOTIONAL SIDE OF JESUS ACTIVITY

35. The Song emphasizes the emotional side of Jesus activity. Why did Jesus
create in Genesis 1 and why did He go to the cross for us?
36. C. These four distinctives are found in many places in Scripture.
37. The uniqueness of the Song is not the fact that it contains these truths.
38. Rather, it is in the focused concentration of them.
39. 1. First, the revelation of Jesus passionate affections and enjoyment of His
people.
40. 2. Second, the revelation of the beauty of Jesus, especially as the
Bridegroom King.
41.3. Third, the revelation of the beauty of the individual believer to Jesus, even
in our weakness. If you want to know what you look like to God, study the
Song.
42. 4. Fourth, the principles needed to grow in love and mature partnership
with Jesus.

43. FIRST: REVELATION OF JESUS PASSION AND ENJOYMENT OF

HIS PEOPLE
44. Number one: Jesus affectionHis enjoyment of His peopleHe is declaring
His enjoyment.
45. It is a significant shout from Heaven to the human heart.
46. I enjoy you, I enjoy you, I long for you, I want you, I enjoy you. Line after
line God is shouting from Heaven this truth to our spirit. I need my spirit
filled with this revelation.
47. SECOND: REVELATION OF THE BEAUTY OF JESUS AS
BRIDEGROOM KING
48. The second is the beauty of Jesus. The maiden or the Bride on a number of
occasions is awestruck and overwhelmed by His beauty. You are handsome,
she says, You are beautiful, she declares out of her experience with Jesus
that her heart is fascinated with His beauty.
49. Now, we find the beauty of Jesus throughout the whole Bible, but there is a
focus on it in the Song of Solomon

50. THREE: REVELATION OF THE BEAUTY OF THE INDIVIDUAL

TO JESUS
51. If you want to know what you look like to God, not just your legal standing, if
your want you legal standing, which you do, read Romans study it, Colossians,
Ephesians, Galatians.
52. Get a real firm foundation on who we are in Christ, and the legal side of our
redemption.
53. The innocent one became guilty so that the guilty ones could become
innocent before God, and nothing could uproot this or disturb this.
54. We have security forever before Him. Satan cannot come in and disrupt this.
55. To the person who loves the Lord, no power can get in-between them and
God.
56. That is the legal dimension of our salvation, but if you want to know what
you look like to God emotionally and what He feels, study the Song of
Solomon.
57. Of coarse the whole Bible, I am a Bible guy, not just into the Song of
Solomon. I want us to be loyal from Genesis to Revelation. We are people of
the Bible.

58. FOURTH: GROW IN LOVE AND MATURE PARTNERSHIP WITH

JESUS
59. The fourth, distinctive is the call for partnership, the emotional side of the
partnership
60. how God feels, and how we feel when we are laboring with Him
61.not just the work itself, the feeling behind the work.
62. In the book of Acts, we find the partnership of the Bride, the Church, with
the Holy Spirit.
63.
64. The Church needs to be equipped with this revelation because of the
significant increase of emotional wounding and sexual brokenness.
65. The Church needs to be equipped in this book, because of the significant
increase of the rise of emotional brokenness and sexual brokenness that is
emerging in the earth.
66. Brokenness has been around from the beginning, from the days of Adam
and Eve, there has been emotional brokenness all the way through.
67. There is an increased; there is an acceleration of emotional wounding,
sexual perversion or brokenness.
68. I believe the revelation of Gods heart will touch the human sprit in these
areas like nothing else can
69. The Song of Solomon is like a Holy laser beam shining down upon the
human heart revealing the passion of God.
70. It is like a bright Holy laser beam, it is just this concentrated unrelenting
message of how God feels touching the human Spirit
71. Jesus wants to fascinate us with His beauty and to enthrall our heart with the
beauty that He has given to us.
72. The Song of Solomon is one of Gods holy laser beams of revelation of Jesus
heart and desire

73. THE THREEFOLD INHERITANCE: PS. 2:11-12

74. David is eavesdropping into a conversation within the Godhead, within the Trinity,
between the Father and the Son.
75. The Father says, Ask of me, to Jesus, I will give you the nations, I will
give you the inheritancethe inheritance is the nations.
76. Now the inheritance of Jesus is not just the real estate of the nations, it is
not that He owns the property;
77. He owns the people and the property. Mostly it is the people, but He owns
the property to fully
78. King David described Gods threefold inheritance as being a people who
tremble, rejoice, and
79. kiss the Son of God.
80. This is one of most excellent descriptions of the mature Bride. (Ps. 2:8-12)

81. DAVID SHOWED US THREE SIDES OF REDEMPTION

82. B. David showed us the three sides of our redemption.
83. 1. Trembling: We tremble in the fear of God by seeing the eternal majesty of
Jesus.
84. 2. Rejoicing: We rejoice by seeing who we are in Christ and the legal
benefits of the cross.
85. 3. Kissing: We figuratively kiss the Son, or love Him with all our heart, as
expressed by holy affections. In this, we touch the emotional and passionate
side of our redemption
86.
87. THREE BOOKS WHICH FOCUS ON THE THREE SIDES OF
REDEMPTION
88. C. There are three books of the Bible that focus on these three sides of our
redemption.
89. 1. Revelation: The majestic, eternal side that causes us to tremble before
God
90. 2. Romans: The legal, practical side that causes us to rejoice in the benefits
of the cross
91.3. Song of Solomon: The passionate, emotional side that empowers us to love
God
92. D. Luther wrote of the legal side of our redemption, yet avoided the
passionate, emotional side.

93. WE NEED ALL THREE OF A HEART WHICH TREMBLES,

REJOICES AND KISSES
94. Beloved, our walk with God is too glorious, too dynamic and you only have
one time on the earth, so you want to experience trembling, rejoicing and
kissing.
95. You want all three dimensions of Jesus inheritance.
96. You want to give yourself to Him in that way because His inheritance is not
just a trembling Bride, it is not just a rejoicing Bride.
97.
98. Other groups that is all they have, and they are not rooted and grounded in
the legal realities of Christ redemption, of what he did on the cross.
99. We do not have to pick trembling, rejoicing, or kissing, we want all three of
them.
100. We want the fear of God,
101. we want a heart of rejoicing,
102. we want a heart filled with affection and love for God. That is what we
want.
103. He has forgiven us so we get right back up in the pursuit of trying to seek to
obey him with all of our heart.
104. The person who is casual about their sin, and then they claim, Oh, I love
God and I got all these holy affections,
105. I have no confidence in that kind of Christianity.
106. This kissing of the Son is talking about Holy affections.
107. It is this, it the emotional giving of our self to God, and receiving His heart
for us leads us into the pursuit of holiness and obeying the Lord.
108. As we touch this dimension of kissing we touch the passionate side of our
redemption, the emotional side. In fact we have deep stirring and longings for
God

109. LOVE HAS TO TRANSLATE INTO OBEDIENCE TO BE LOVE

110. Love has to translate into obedience for it to be love. Now it may take
awhile before it matures to full obedience, but it is longing and fighting for
obedience each step of the way.
111. I do not have, I do not accept the definition of love that is emotional that is
not grounded and rooted in people trying to obey God and walk in purity.
112. We failyescome up shortyesbut get right back up declaring war on
that sin and pushing delete.
113. HOLY KISS OF OBEDIENCE AND THE PURSUIT OF HOLINESS

114.WE WANT THE FULL INHERITENCE JESUS DIED FOR

115. The inheritance Jesus died for has all three dimensions in it:
116. It has the affection,
117. it has the fear of God, and
118. it has the rejoicing of faith.
119. So now we say in our heart, We are going to go after this. We want this
Lord. How are we going to do it? This is really important
120. we have to go actually do something at the heart level.
121. The water has to but turned into wine, so to speak, on the inside of our
spirit.
122. There has to be a supernatural transformation of the Word of God touching
our emotions on the inside.
123. We must engage in long and loving meditation on the Song of Solomon with
a hungry and honest heart before God.
124. If you buy that sentence, it will change you life.
125. If you determine that you are going to engage in long and loving meditation
on the Word of Godthe whole Word of God

126. TURNING THE SONG INTO AN AFFECTIONATE PRAYER

DIALOGUE WITH JESUS
127. We must engage in long and loving meditation on the Song with a hungry,
honest heart before God.
128. One of the Spirits purposes in the Song is to fill us with the Fathers love
for Jesus. (Jn. 17:26)
129. If we are to receive the full benefit of the Song, we must turn it into an
ongoing, affectionate, prayerful dialogue with Jesus.
130. It is not enough to only study the Song without going to the next step of
turning it into a prayer dialogue.
131. The language of the Song must get into our prayer life and thought life
before it will transform our emotions.
132. We approach the Song as more than an academic exercise in Bible research.
Informing our intellect is significant, but it is only a starting point.
133. No one would go to a famous restaurant to merely study the menu. The
menu is there to help them obtain a good meal.
134. It is not enough to be a connoisseur of the Song of Solomon; we must allow
this book to fill our heart.
135. I have about ten phrases that have become deeply personal to me. In my
early days, I wrote them on postcards to use when I drove or took a walk. I
slowly whispered them to Jesus.
136. For example, Father, let Him kiss me with His Word or Spirit, sustain
me, refresh me (Song 1:2; 2:5).
137. As you read through these study notes, pray specific phrases from the Song
back to God. In this way, we use the Song as a springboard to launch into the
depths of Gods love

138. ENCOUNTERING JESUS: PRAY-READING THE SONG OF

SOLOMON
139. I define two general categories of truth related to meditating on the Word.
140. The first category is related to truths that exhort us to believe something
about God, ourselves, or the kingdom.
141. The second category is related to truths that exhort us to obey Gods Word.
142. I define two general categories of truth when I think of meditating on the
Bible.
143. This is so general, but I think it will help get your thoughts organized.
144. The first categories of truth, very general, are the Bible verses that exhort
us to believe something.
145. God says, I love you, He wants us to believe it. You are the righteousness
of God in Christ Jesuswe are supposed to believe it. The Kingdom is
eternalwe are supposed to believe itthings about ourselves, about God,
about the Kingdom.
146. There is also a second category of exhortations that we are supposed to
obey
147. Bridle your tongue. Guard your tongue. Guard your eyes. Give your money.
148. Serve in the last place. Do not complain. I mean those are really specific
guidelines of obedience.
149. So some tell us to believe things, some truths, and some truths exhort us to
obey. Let us break it down.
150. Below are two ways to pray-read the Scriptures that exhort us to believe
Gods Word.

151. PRACTICAL EXAMPLE OF HOW TO RECEIVE FULL BENEFIT OF

SONG
152. WE THANK GOD FOR A PARTICULAR TRUTH IN A
PASSAGE

153. 1. First, we thank God for the particular truth set forth in the passage.
154. We turn the truth into a dialogue that includes taking time to say thank
You, Jesus in a specific way.
155. a. For example, when reading you have ravished my heart (Song 4:9), we
respond by thanking God for this truth by praying, Thank you, Jesus, that I
ravish Your heart.
156. b. For example, when Jesus says to the Bride, your love is better than
wine (Song 4:10), we respond by praying, I thank You, Jesus, that You
esteem my love for You as better than the wine (the glory and pleasure) of
this world.
157. 10How fair is your loveHow much better than wine is your love (Song
4:10)

158. WE ASK FOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE TRUTH AS WE

BELIEVE MORE
159. Second, we ask for understanding of the truth as we seek to believe more.
160. Ask God to release revelation that causes us to know and feel the power of
specific truths (Eph. 1:17).
161. Give me the Spirit of Revelation because I want to know this, I want to feel
the power of this in my spirit. I want to know more.
162. So when I thank Him for it, and then ask Him for more revelation,
163. a. For example, when reading, you have ravished my heart, my bride, ask
Jesus for heart revelation by praying, Jesus, show me more how I have
ravished Your heart.
164. b. For example, when reading that Jesus says to the Bride, Your love is
better than wine, respond by asking for understanding by praying, Jesus,
show me more about the truth that my love for You is better to You than all
the wine of this world

165. COMMIT TO OBEY JESUS

166. Below are two ways to pray-read the Scriptures with truths that exhort us
to obey Gods Word.
167. 1. First, we commit to obey Jesus in the specific way described in the
passage. We turn a particular truth into a simple dialogue with God that
includes declaring our intention
168. (commitment) to obey Him according to the particular exhortation in that
passage.
169. a. For example, when Jesus exhorts the Bride to rise up in obedience to
leave the comfort zone to follow Him (costly obedience; Song 2:10), we
respond by simply committing to obey this truth by praying, Jesus, I will rise
from the comfort zone to meet You on the mountains of costly obedience
(Song 4:6).
170. My belovedsaid to me: Rise up, my loveand come away. (Song 2:10)
171. For example, Jesus honors the Brides heart for being like an enclosed
garden whose springs of water are undefiled (a kings garden was enclosed or
locked, in contrast to public garden.
172. This points to having a pure heart that is as an enclosed garden, or fully
reserved, for Jesus).
173. We respond by committing to obey this truth by praying, Jesus, my heart is
locked to all compromise. I am fully Yours.
174. A garden enclosed ismy spouse, a spring shut up (Song 4:12)

175. ASK FOR HELP AND GODS MANIFIEST POWER TO OBEY

176. 2. Second, we ask for Gods manifest power to obey a particular truth in a
passage.
177. Ask the Spirit for help to obey specific exhortations in a passage.
178. a. For example, when the Lord exhorts the Bride to arise in obedience to
follow Him to the mountains, we ask the Spirit to help us obey by praying,
179. Jesus, empower me to obey You as I arise from the comfort zone to meet
you in costly obedience.
180. b. For example, when the Lord honors the Brides heart for being like an
enclosed garden, we respond by asking God for help to obey this truth by
praying,
181. Jesus, empower me to live with a locked heart that resists all compromise
for You.

182. LANGUAGE OF THE SONG MUST GET INTO OUR PRAYER

AND THOUGHT LIFE
183. It will not transform my emotions unless the language of this Song gets into
the language of my prayer life and the language of my thought life.

184. MORE THEN HEAD KNOWLEDGE, HEART

TRANSFORMATION
185. Informing our intellect is very important, but it is only a starting point.
186. If I can tell you concepts about the Song of Songs does not mean that it is
alive in my heart.
187. A menu is only helpful if it helps us get you the meal.
188. The Bible is the menuit is not the mealand you have to ingest it into your
heart.
189. It has to be a dialogue in your heart with God or it does not change us.
190. It is like food, you can have that, you can even order it, if that food sits on
the table you will die of starvation and weakness
191.YOU HAVE TO ORDER FROM THE MENU AND INGEST THE
WORD OF GOD

192. THE NECESSITY OF JOURNALING

193. Take time to journal by writing down your thoughts, prayers, and
meditations as you pray-read through the Song. This will help you to
capture the truths that the Lord puts on your heart.
194. The simple exercise of writing your ideas will help you take this
magnificent Song and turn it into a glorious prayer dialogue between your
heart and Jesus.
195. Be patient, speak slowly and softly, then journal your thoughts. You may be
surprised how the Spirit will give you more revelation, strengthen your
obedience, and tenderize your heart by this.
