RESOLUTION SUPPORTING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION WHEREAS, one of Riverside's founding ideals is to create a beautiful environment that encourages civic interaction and social discourse among residents and visitors alike; and WHEREAS, the residents who live in the Village of Riverside, and the visitors who come to enjoy the village's history, architecture, and natural beauty, and to shop in its businesses, and participate in its public events, have diverse backgrounds, perspectives, ideas, and cultures; and WHEREAS, creating an attractive place where people want to visit and live is essential to the village's overall betterment and vibrancy, including supporting its schools, sustaining its businesses, and enhancing its property values; and WHEREAS, people of varying backgrounds, perspectives, ideas, and cultures have made and will continue to make countless contributions to our village, state, and nation; and WHEREAS, one of America’s greatest strengths is its commitment to embracing and protecting people's differences through a shared dedication to freedom, equality, and justice for all; and WHEREAS, the Village of Riverside seeks to advance these principles and is committed to treating all people with respect and dignity; and WHEREAS, the Village of Riverside has always been dedicated to creating a diverse, inclusive, and neighborly community where people with varying backgrounds, perspectives, ideas, and cultures can come together in a beautiful, safe, and harmonious environment that promotes mutual respect and understanding; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village of Riverside celebrates and ‘encourages diversity and a spirit of inclusion among its residents and visitors, and will continue to advance the principles of freedom, equality, and justice for al DATED this _ day of __, 2017.
