Mechanics of the game

The Grand Lotto is a lottery conducted by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office
(PCSO). To be part of the game, the player must go to a lottery ticketing station and choose six
numbers from 1 to 55 in any order. Each ticket costs 20 pesos. Everyday the PCSO randomly
chooses six numbers to determine a winner. In a box, there are 55 balls and on each ball the
numbers 1 to 55 are written. They pick six random balls one by one and arrange them by which
ball was picked first. If a player gets all six numbers right on his/her ticket, s/he gets a minimum
of 30 million pesos as a prize; 200 thousand pesos if only five numbers, three thousand pesos if
only four numbers are right, and twenty pesos if only three are right. Each ticket is only valid
once and only for the date that it is issued for.

2. Identify if it is combination or permutation.

The Grand Lotto is considered a permutation since winning the lottery involves and
requires the arrangement of the six numbers that have been bet by the player and the six numbers
that have been randomly selected to be exactly the same; unlike in combination, where in the
arrangement wouldnt matter.

A = 15,694,895,552,337 * 20
= 313,897,911,046,740
In conclusion, if all the lottery tickets will be sold, the PCSO will earn PHP
